This slug orgy I came across while hiking …
I found this on a trail … there was another one about a hundred feet away from it. At first I thought it was feces or vomit, but on further inspection I was thoroughly creeped out.

I’ve had this TV for 4 years - we love it. My daughter is home from college and we planned on having homemade popcorn and movie night. I went downstairs and powered everything up and set the Hue lights. Everything was working absolutely fine. I saw the notification that there was an update, so I powered down to let that happen while I made the popcorn and we all got settled. When I powered up, there was no audio … couldn’t get it going so we moved upstairs and watched the movie there instead.
Since then I tried all of the basic troubleshooting steps on my own, including a factory reset. Through testing, I found that Bluetooth works, but I get nothing from the tv speakers or through the optical audio cable.
I called Sony support and they dialed in to my TV and checked settings, ran an audio test and installed new firmware. They told me to call back if it didn’t work.
It didn’t.
I called them and the rep I got was a joke - he was audibly yawning while I was talking. I explained that the TV worked fine before the update. He said, too bad so sad, so I asked for a manager - who was nicer, but he still basically told me to pound sand. “Your TV is 4 years old. There’s nothing we can do.”
This 4-year-old TV was $4000 … and, from what I can tell, Sony’s firmware bricked the audio. There’s nothing they can do? Really?
So - is it possible? Does this sound like a hardware issue? To me, it seems incredibly coincidental that the audio was working before the update but not after - but maybe my rage is clouding my judgement. Haha
Anyway - any help, advice or words of encouragement are appreciated. Even if it’s to tell me I am expecting too much for a 4 year old TV.
Thank you …
We had a minor technical issue during our gig on Friday night and our singer improvised a little sing-a-long to keep everyone engaged, pass the time and lighten spirits. Amazing moment.
If you saw this commercial when it aired, you might be old.
I bought this first edition (1943) book on trench combat fighting techniques that was used during WWII called “Kill or Get Killed” by Major Rex Applegate. The backstory of why I wanted it is a little long and not very interesting, but I bought the book online and, to my surprise, this post card was inside.
I can’t make it all out, but this is what I could decipher …
“Dear Walter,
Was at the USO but missed you. Of course it was after 2 o’clock but that couldn’t be helped the bus ____ is terrible out in North Camp.
We also work a lot harder and ____ ____ that we are ____ ____ work.
Drop me a line as I would like to see you again.
Florence Huston”
Postcard was addressed to Staff Sargent Walter Wayland of the 614th (?) Ordnance Company in Camp Hood, Texas.
Were Walter and Florence ever able to meet again? I sure hope so. I tried googling and came up flat.
Finding this inside the book brought a whole extra level to the weight of the contents of the book, which are pretty grim. I have no idea if the person who sold it knew it was in there, but it really made it feel like I acquired something priceless.
Hope you all enjoy.
Interesting. Not affiliated with either brand and the link goes to some marketing site to sign up for more info. Guessing the Fender/Godzilla thing at the Godzilla store in Japan was pretty successful.
