Follow up regarding Summer Care Suspension

So we decided not to send our 6 year old (6f, dx, medicated) daughter back to the school's child care program after her suspension because there is a woman that clearly doesn't like her.

The more I thought about it the more mad I got. Other child care workers there have said our kid quickly recovers from incidents, she's a great kid, etc, but this other woman has made comments about how they can't accommodate her because she's too much and I realized that they are in fact discriminating against her.

I wrote an email to the director of the program Monday night, it shows that ot was recieved, but no response as of yet.

I'm not sure what the next step would be. It is a State Licensed chold care program that runs via the achool for before school/after school care, and the employees are District employees.

Would the next step be ly daughter's principal and her DSP/SPED program director?

We need to utilize before school care dur9ng the school year, and this awful woman runs it and is a supervisor at my daughter's elementary, the director runs it at the other elementary school.

It's a small down so I don't want to cause too much chaos akd I truly do want to work together. I have a great relationship with her DSP program staff and principal and her school is amazing. But I don't know how to not let this go. Especially since I've already started!

2 day suspension from summer program (not camp)

So our school district has before car/after care that also provides summer care. There are 2 main providers we'll call them A and B. My daughter goes to Eagle School, but Summer Care is at Beaver School.

Both Miss A and B seem to have a serious disliking toward my child due to her... sometimes rigid behaviors. When my daughter (6, medicated, 20mg methylphenidate ER, afternoon booster 2.5) has a change in schedule, her brain goes haywire for a minute.

They know this, they have been aware from the beginning.

Eagle School is a school that all the higher special needs go to because the Beaver school gets zero funding for Special Education, so my daughter was evaluated at the Beaver school and incorrectly deemed too high of Special seeds to go there, she's since been reevaluate, and thankfully can stay at the Eagle School. She literally only has a tough time after periods of change.

We recently went on vacation so she didn't go to summer care, was on a whole different schedule. When we got back, she got sick, so we kept her home a few days. When we took her back, within 20 minutes of dropping her off, Miss A called and said we had to pick her up, then summer care was closed for a day, thst brings us to today, again, within 20 minutes of dropping her off, Miss A calls and says we have to pick her up.

Miss A says that my child is "mean" to her, but everyone else the works there says her behavior is fine, with minor blips. Today, Miss A said that my child threw a tantrum and then when she tried to tell her to go sit and calm down, my child kicked bark chips at her, so she's suspended for the week. If similar happens, she'll be suspended for 2 weeks.

Before we went on our trip, we had no issues, they know she takes a while to readjust.

I feel like we work so hard to have her not feel like a bad kid, none of her behavior is out of line according to other people at Sunmer Care, I truly feel like Miss A is exaggerating her behavior. The problem is that Miss B also dislikes my child, and she's the director of the program, Miss As supervisor.

I'm at a loss of what to do. When school starts, we were hoping to utilize before school care 2 hrs a week. I'm going to talk to her Special Ed program to see if we can get her Para Assistance in the AM for it, but i dont know if a 504 or IEP would cover accommodations for before school/after school care?

I'm so frustrated and mad and sad. She doesnt have these behaviors with anyone else. And we can work to change things but they're unwilling to work with her or show any empathy or willingness.

Idk what I'm looking for here. When her behavior gets like this I feel like it skyrocket my anxiety. She's not a bad kid. She's so sweet. Her medication has been great. So idk what to do.

Little Peter's dipping sauce dupe?

I miss Little Peter's (Peter's Oriental Food i think it was also called?).

Someone has.to know how to make a dupe of that dipping sauce. Something close. I don't need to know the family secret recipe... it's been years obviously since ove had it so I only need something close it doesn't have to be an exact dupe, just somethingclose to that sweet tangy yet savory goodness.

God those were the best spring rolls and sauce and nothing ever compares. I'd give anything to go back in time for one more sample.

Silly Juneau nostalgia.

Hoard Cleanout Next Week

I'm doing a hoard cleanout and my uncle had some whale bones he picked up in Thorne Bay or Ketchikan a few years ago, they're not cleaned, honestly I thought they were drift wood when I first saw them. I've already checked with Fish and Game and a few other resources, they aren't protected, does anyone want them? Gifting them to the museum wasn't an option.

This is the best picture I could get of them as there was no other light available and I wasn't touching that pillow.

If anyone is looking for anything fun from the 60s-90s, let me know. Lots of fishing stuff, yarn, crafting supplies, and old lady vintage clothing.

Before I go down ky own rabbit hole, I thought I'd ask opinions here?

We're finally at the point where we're done with tent camping. I just can't do it anymore, and rqther than only going once a year, we'd like to boondock as well as glamp and go more frequently than we have been. An RV would make this so much easier.

We have a 2001 Suburban 3/4 ton and 92 Dodge Cummins available for towing. We plan on boondocking and going to State parks, akd possibly Thousand Trails (inheriting a grandfathered plan). And we'd like to stay around 14-16 foot for the trailer.

Things we need:

Toilet and shower with knee room for my 6'2 husband while on the toilet.

An actually functional kitchen

A/C - I'd imagine this is fairly standard

A queen or preferably king sized bed (if that's a thing?) along with a secondary sleeping area. *But not bunks* as we have a child and plan on allowing her to bring a friend as she gets older.

We want something that's good quality and I've read there's a few manufacturers to stay away from, any pointers there would be so helpful too!

Any suggestions, tips, and points to lead me on my hunt to the perfect RV would be greatly appreciated!!

We all missed the "planning" phase and need the "administration" phase help

My grandparents and uncle passed away intestate in Alaska. My grandfather died first, leaving everything to my grandmother. My uncle moved into their home and managed utilities and taxes, but failed to open probate or update deeds before he passed away five years after my grandmother. There are unsigned, unfiled draft wills for both grandparents, not that it really matters, and my uncle died without a will or named beneficiaries on his accounts that I could tell when going through his documents.

My mother (NOT in Alaska, and unable to travel) is the next of kin. She retained an attorney in Alaska, she just just received the Letters of Administration for both estates so i helped her obtained EINs, and the attorney has started with with Informal Probate (since it's been long enough my grandmother's is faster, and I believe hers is smaller, classic Old Crazy Rich Uncle story I suppose).

We are currently stuck on the logistics of managing the estate assets, which include bank accounts and unclaimed property escheated to the state. Since my mother and I live in different states and have I limited capacity, I am trying to handle the administrative steps for her as she's a full time caregiver for my father

Could someone clarify the process for opening estate accounts? Specifically any guidance on the next steps for an estate executor in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea where to go for opening an Estate Account - can my mom just contact her Financial Advisor and open an Estate Account with her for these accounts or do we need to go to a regular Financial Institution? My uncle has absolutely no debts, no creditors, nothing, where he lived doesn't even have property taxes on the land he owns.

Do Estate Attorneys assist in changing the property over or do we need to get a Real estate attorney?

Is there Estate Administration For Dummies?

Unhinged Sleep Hack ideas that actually worked for you for an almost 6 year old

Not Tart Cherry Juice or magnesium. I kean. Like, supr original.

Like, UNHINGED, that won't result on CPS being called on us. Give me any ideas. I'm desperate.

My daughter is a week shy of 6. Dx ADHD non specific (likely combined type), takes .1 of 12 clonodine and 20mg Concerta in the AM and 2.5mg booster around 1pm, .1mg of clonodine at bedtime

Prior to adding the 12 clonodine, my kid stopped sleeping through the night. It doesn't matter if we skip her afternoon booster, if she skips all meds, has meds, clonodine later, etc, she will not sleep through the night. Lately she's been waking up around 1-2, then she's up for the day around 5:30-6am

I haven't gotten now then 2 hrs of sleep at a time because of this.

Magnesium doesn't do anything, she has an awful reaction to melatonin.

We have an appointment on Monday, I just need ideas to survive until Monday.

Day 3 of Summer Care!

I swear my kid loves watching my sweat.

She woke up excited about going. Her dad bought her a new stuffy yesterday and she picked it to take to Summer Care. Picked out her outfit, we talked about expectations today, she told me when she got scared or missed me she'd take deep breaths and hug her stuffy. I told her when I missed her I'd hug one of her stuffies too. I told her I would pick her up at 1:30 today.

Her dad dropped her off, talked to the women, they again expressed their concerns, said how it's just 2 of them and thry have a lot of kids, and our kid is a lot. It jist breaks my heart. Everyone at her other school only ever talks about how "enchanting" she is and how lovely she is so this is really jolting to me.

At 1:30 I went and asked how her day was and a woman i didn't see yesterday acted like I had a 3rd head. She said she was great. I asked to speak to the main woman, and the woman said my daughter was like an entirely different child, she also said that they did manage to give her medication on time where previously they gave it to her a little late, so "maybe it is her medication" when yesterday they said twice "it seems like it's more than a medication thing".

She's only 5 and I feel like i have so many more battles ahead of me.

I had promised her a new unicorn if she made it through the day acting like a brave unicorn. Instead, she picked a Fur-Real Biscuit Making Kitty which is the worlds most annoying and useless toy.

But, I think it's going to work with less hours spent there, my friend is going to watch her 1 day a week, and we're just going to make it work.

She just needed a stuffy with her I guess?

I appreciate all the kindness and reassurance. I was spiraling yesterday because of stress from work and thinking we wouldnt have childcare was sending me over the edge. My kid actually loves it there and she's super upset they're closed tomorrow.

We made it.

Day 2 Of Summer Care and they think it might not be a good fit

I honestly don't know what to do. My husband and I both work full time from home (well, he's hybrid), I work 6:30-3 and he works 8-5, he's in office as needed and always on Wednesdays.

We signed our daughter (will be 6 next week, medicated 20mg concerta am with 2.5mg booster in the afternoon, clonodine for sleep) up for summer care through the school district, and planned to onoy have her there 4-5 hrs a day, except Wednesday mostly all (drop off at 7:30, I would pick up at 1, but something happened at work and she had to stay all day)

She never did day care, she did 3 day a week half day preschool and then went to kindergarten.

The Child Care is great, and it's only $5/hr.

The first day they called and had us pick her up because they said she was upset but when my husband got there she was fine.

Today when I got there they said she had a really bad day, but when i got there she was participating and calm. They claimed she was crying and weepy all day and saying she missed me and hard to re-direct and they don't have time to do one on one because they have so many kids.

They kept asking if she had special needs, and I explained she has ADHD and she's sensitive to sounds, but nothing else, they acted like she wasn't able to communicate or something. It was super weird. I had a bad experience with this particular school when she was evaluated, and she was placed at a school because they felt her needs were too high, but her current school doesn't feel that way. I really don't understand what's happening.

We don't live in a place with a lot of options, I don't even know what I'm asking for help with. I guess i don't know how to explain to this woman what ADHD is and how it affects her? Like, she gets overstimulated, they think she's miserable but my kod actually loves it there. If she hated it she'd tell me. But she's excited about going tomorrow.

We are going to send her with some comfort items tomorrow and send her with headphones as well and see of that helps. We're going to send her for a shorter time period, I just dont understand how parents handle summer time when they have to work?

We couldnt find any camps that would medicate her. And she absolutely needs a mid day dose or she gets super angry and will get disregulated.

I can't quit my job, having her be a tablet/TV zombie isn't an option. What do people doo???

Creating Systems while fighting executive dysfunction and object permanence issues - Bags/Totes with A Purpose!

My husband and I both have different flavors of ADHD, his is more chaotic than mine, or I've just masked more heavily and his has been babied more. Then we went and created an offspring that shares a sprinking of each of our flavors of ADHD, so our house is pure chaos, all the time. Especially when tryong to go somewhere.

I'm trying to find ways to start living on "easy mode" more naturally and stop fighting our ADHD habits (or lack thereof). We tend to put things in random bags when going places, then come home and the bag gets mixed up or set down, or shoved somewhere or left in the car, or whatever.

Most recently my husband and I had a breakdown in communication while I was trying to quickly get our daughter ready for swim lessons but couldn't find the bag from the following week that should have had her swim stuff....

I couldn't find it because he took everything out to use that bag for something else. Awesome. More chaos.

So I bought a knock off Bogg Bag. It will help prevent mildew if I leave it in the car, it can't be confused with other reusable bags.

Then I got a grocery tote style bag (like the square hard sided fabric with easy to carry straps) and had my friend embroider it with "Off To The Grandparents We Go" for all the snacks and things we take to my folks each weekend or things we take back and forth.

Another tote was made and labeled "Grocery Bags" to keep by the door.

I'll get another knockoff Bogg Bag for playdate/lake stuff.

It's been amazing to 1) have a spot for things to go, so we'repitting things in the same place and 2) easily communicating what needs to go with us and where it is. Especially when we can say "do you have the bag" and there's no miscommunication or misunderstanding about *which* bag.

It seems like a small thing, but this has honestly been such a wild change to our life and made things incredibly easier on us that I thought I'd share. Who knew such a small change would help with clutter, chaos, communication, my relationship, and organization, and just lake getting out the door and going places smoother. I wish I had thought of this years ago.
