Hi,
So I've just modded one of my DS Lites with dual IPS screens from AliExpress, and after I was finally happy with how all of this stuff fitted into my OEM shell etc., I've assembled everything back and removed the protective films from the screens in the end.
It was in this moment I've realized, that - in contrary to crisp top screen - the bottom one looks like a mess. It looks like some kind of layer was still sticked into it and caused enourmous sub-pixel level artefacts while looking at this screen, and especially while tilting it even a little bit.
notice the noisy bottom screen
I think this is just how bad the digitizer is done on this screen, but would love to hear from someone that has the same mod and could confirm if their bottom IPS screen looks that bad as well, or maybe there's something fundamentaly wrong with digitizer on mine.
I've uploaded video on which I'm trying to show the issue to streamable:
edit: tried to record it again
edit2: this should be the best:
Notice how there's this noisy layer visible on the bottom screen, and it's not the video compression. On the video it's gray, but to the naked eye it's actually RGB-ish and two or even three times worse.
So if any of you folks has dual/bottom screen DSLite IPS mod, please let me know how it looks on your console.
Thanks!
Hi,
So this TV is not at my place, but I'm trying to help someone else remotely.
They have new Xiaomi TV A PRO 2025 32" and local DVB TV cable connected to it, and using default Xiaomi app to watch the cable TV.
However, seems like after the Android system update they got, they lost the sound on some channels from the cable TV. The sound works overall, but it looks like on some channels there's some different encoding or whatever, and suddently the TV is not recognizing it?
The "Audio" button on the affected channels shows empty list (in a contrary to the channels that has a working sound), unplugging the TV from the power for the whole night didn't fix the issue, as well as the built-it Factory Reset from the Android system menu. They've also checked the sound setting to be sure that any enhancments, DTS, surround and stuff like that are off.
These affected channels have their audio working correctly on the previous, older TV they got.
What could be the issue here, what else can I try to help the owners?

Hi all!
Today I would like to show you my most recent idea - GBA SP reshell inspired by Metroid: Zero Mission.
I recently got my hands on the first AGS-101 in my growing collection. It was cheap, but its oem pink shell was in quite bad condition. I decided to use this opportunity to reshell it, but didn't want to go with a simple single-color shell swap. Therefore - inspired by Samus Satin version of the shell - I've assembled this one, using four different, cheap, chinese shells.
Transparent green represents Samus' visor, red is the helmet, orange is the suit, and blue is... the ground under Samus' feet when starting Zero Mission? 👀 Yeah, that could be it... 😄
I've managed to transfer original Nintendo and AGS-101 sticker as well. They are not in perfect condition, but that's OK.
So, I guess that after finishing Fusion, the time has come now to start Zero Mission!
Hey guys,
So I recently got DMG and GBC from one reseller, and Everdrive GB X5 card from the other one.
Overall everything seems to be working as expected.
If I run diagnostic test from this cart on the DMG, everything passes correctly, if I plug it into my GBA SP, everything's OK too.
BUT
If I run diagnostic test with the same flashcart+sdcard on this "new" GBC, I got two errors as seen on the photo. I tried to change sdcard, but the result is the same.
I've modded some GBA SP's in the past, but this is my first time with DMG and GBC tinkering - should I be worried? Can I do any more tests? Should I return it to the seller?
Thank you!
I've ordered some glossy-black logos and got them today. Gotta say - they look beautiful on the eXtremerate's matte black shell. The only concern I have is that if you hook the letters accidentally with your nail or cloth while cleaning (gotta keep these nasty fingerprints away from this bad boy), the individual letters can move/unstick easier than I thought they will. But maybe it's because the glue still needs some more time to settle?
I still need to get black shell for my Everdrive GBA Mini somehow and switch to it from my broken transparent one. Gonna stick the japanese version of Everdrive sticker I made myself on it afterwards.
After that, my daily GBA SP will be complete!
EDIT - the stickers are from Polish shop: https://www.do-zrobienia.pl/, I believe this is their eBay account: https://www.ebay.com/str/todostickers
The sticker I've used was this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/387636289783
I cut it to make two separate logos, and - as you can see - it worked out perfectly!
PS. Don't go for this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/386322535329
It's too squished, its ratio just doesn't feel right for the battery cover logo.
Hello,
So I would love to buy some of these:
https://everdrive.me/accessories/gba.html
Unfortunately there are two issues.
It also seems that modding a regular GBA cart shell is not worth the hassle. Even after cutting some parts of the plastic, you would still need to make a back plastic thinner to accomodate for the chips on the back of Everdrive PCB.
And so, the question... any ideas how I could get my Everdrive in some kind of a new, nice looking shell?
(Oh yea, and the reason is - my OG shell is broken. I can still use the cart but I'd like to have it not-damaged, and ideally = black, not transparent)
Thanks
Hello all,
So I got a small experience with GBA SP modding, already did like 5 Hispeedido v5 IPS mods, and also this one Funnyplaying ITA mod which is a bit harder.
They sent me a wrong lens (white instead black) so while I was waiting for the proper screen shipment, I modded this GBA SP with this white ITA screen. It went OK, apart from the screen itself having some bad/dead pixels after couple of days, but I was waiting for the replacement anyway.
So today I got the screen (only screen, without new controller PCB that you stick to the back of the screen), and when the ribbon is plugged in to the controller, GB make a high-pitched short sound while booting and flashes red light once, and you can't hear booting sequence sound. There's also no reaction on the screen itself. I feel like there's something wrong with the new screen and/or its ribbon?
When I plugged the old (white) screen back in, everything works correctly, meaning, I can see the GB logo on the screen and hear the sound of booting.
Is there anything I can do to or check or measure in terms of voltages etc. on the console or controller or ribbons? Or am I f'ed once again after another weeks of waiting for the replacement?
Gotta say, I'm very happy with Hispeedido screens quality and that all of the ones I've ordered were perfectly fine. With Funnyplaying however, it's pretty dissapointing experience.
Thanks
Hi all,
Forgive me yet another question in this category on this Reddit, but I'm fresh guy in this hobby and need your help.
I've recently bought two Walkmans in very good visual condition, and - according to sellers - very good technical conditions, after cleaning, belt replacements etc.
It was WM-EX53 and WM-EX502
So the issue is, the EX53 played left channel louder than the right one, it was hearable on any tape, multiple headphones etc., and you could even hear it listening to the white noise without tape plugged in. Moving volume slider didn't change L to R ratio, there was also no crackling.
I've returned it, and later on I received my EX502 and...
...the issue is almost exactly the same! The only thing different from the above is that on the auto-reverse, the noise becames quiter on L channel and it's actually even with R. But on normal playback (no auto-reverse) the left side is louder, white noise is much more noticable etc. = with this device I even confirmed it on visual meters in Reaper on my PC
Am I crazy, doing something wrong, or just got "lucky" that the first two Walkmans from which I wanted to start my collection are not working properly in a same manner?
Thanks
