Miku Oshi Decora decision
Sooo I’m putting together a bigger better Miku Oshi decora outfit for a J fashion show at a local con I’ll be in, and I’ve been going back and forth on a few things. (This is just for the base outfit). So two things, I’m debating between putting the pigtails on the wig, and I’m debating what bottoms I want to go with. I’m gonna be wearing fleece lined tights underneath regardless so that’s probably something to keep in mind.
1: shortie shorts. I love the look of short shorts+big jacket, and they would give me more room to show off my fun tights/otks whichever I decide on, and the leg warmers I’m making.
2: diy tripp cargo shorts. I made these for my first Miku/vocaloid overall decora fit specifically for Miku Expo. It was when my wife and I were living in Phoenix, so the goal was comfortable/airy and as many pockets as possible because of the arena’s super strict bag policy. Thing is this time I don’t need to worry about that this time and I’ll actually be carrying two bags, plus I worry about the bottom of the shorts bumping up against the top of the leg warmers and it could look awkward.
3: layered tule skirt. Could be fun. I haven’t worn a skirt with decora in forever, and I feel like it could give it this old school FRUiTS magazine vibe. Plus, it would add more layering and texture.
As far as the pigtails go, pro: sooo much more real estate to work with for hair accessories. And it would look SO cute. Cons: I think it would give “cosplay” even more than it already does. Like, even with the short base wig it’s giving a bit Mikuo cosplay, but obviously not everyone knows Mikuo, they just know the long blue pigtails. I already get plenty of “I love your cosplay who are you dressed as?” When I’m in decora at a convention, but it’d be a little harder to give the “I’m dressed as myself!” When I’m literally in a Miku wig lol. Also, it’s a pain to deal with long wigs at a convention.
But it would look so cute…
