Always online completely ruins Diablo IV for me

tl;dr: I'm complaining about always online requirement that is a nightmare on a portable device, I don't have any solutions neither this rant has any value.

I'm mainly a console/handheld player. I prefer to play games on switch and steam deck. I played every single diablo game - D1 on playstation and recently on GOG, D2 in my CS class in school and recently D2R on switch, D3 on switch and couple of days ago my friend gifted me a humble choice key for D4 and holy hell I didn't realize the always online nightmare one has to go through to play it.

I read D3 had i too but switch version is the only one that has offline mode so it didn't stop me to play the way I like. And the way I like to play is a problem with D4. I prefer to play in short bursts and put my device to sleep when I have to do something else. This was not a problem in any other game but is a massive pain in D4. Not only because the game stops working as if it wasn't bad enough but because HOW it stops - it doesn't kick me out, it doesn't freeze or crash - it looks perfectly normal, except NPCs stop spawning and I'm unable to interact with the world or with menu. This means the only way to resume playing is completely killing the game from deck's menu, restarting battle.net and starting the game again. It takes so long, that by the time I get back to the game I don't feel like playing anymore. Not suspending my deck is another option but then there's a problem with network - my house is quite broad and whenever I move between living room and bedroom I lose wifi coverage for a moment and it's enough to get me kicked out of the game. I wish blizzard added offline mode like they did in D3 for Switch but I'm afraid best I can count on is only switch 2 port to feature it if they even ever decide to make it (and I don't own switch 2 and have no intention of buying it until OLED model and some game I actually care about comes out). This makes me sad because the little I got to play the game I enjoyed a lot.
