From panic disorder to Gad

Not sure if this is a victory but here it goes about a year ago I got diagnosed with panic disorder because I had literally panic attacks every single day while I was at work I went from having panic attacks almost daily to now having them once in awhile spoke to my psychiatrist and she reevaluated me and diagnosed me with general anxiety disorder which honestly I can handle way better than having to deal with constant panic attacks. I still have a long way to go as far as anxiety but I still consider this a win in my book

Stuck in Freeze

Ive been dealing with this for about a year, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

I constantly feel like my nervous system is "shut down" or frozen. I'm not having frequent panic attacks anymore, but I feel disconnected from everything. I have derealization almost all the time, my body feels heavy and numb, my emotions feel blunted, and it's like my brain just won't come back online. Sometimes I even feel like my body is frozen.

I've heard people describe this as being stuck in a dorsal vagal or freeze state and it seems to match what I'm experiencing. Has anyone here gone through something like this?

Stuck in Freeze

Ive been dealing with this for about a year, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. For starters I was diagnosed with panic disorder about 1 year ago. Had several panic attack some of them everyday, however things have now changed and not ina good way

When I'm in public I don't have panic attacks anymore just feel like I'm going to paint and extremely derealized but rarely fight or flight.

Anyone have experience as to what might be happening?

Hypnotherapy for me

My question for people who will do have no therapy or hypnotherapist how do you know it's working or not I haven't tried it but I'm just curious because I want to is it like an immediate change for you wake up one day and you realize OMG I'm better or is it more of a progressive thing like most therapies?

Body Going Numb

I'm having these weird attacks that feel like a panic attack but at the same time they don't. So just like a panic attack I feel like I'm going to pass out but instead of my body getting sweaty and getting dizzy. I get very cold and numb starting from my feet way to my groin, arms and then my whole body. Happens a lot when I'm laying down unnecessarily what I'm standing up. I had a pretty bad one on Wednesday where I was losing consciousness while in bed woke up with a lot of dread, had to call the paramedics and they told me my vitals were good. Anybody else get panic attacks like this are they panic attacks or is it more like presyncope? I do deal with a lot of derealization and tension in my body. I have a doctor's appointment soon but I'm just curious.

Can Somatic Therapy Help?

I'm considering trying somatic therapy and would really appreciate hearing honest experiences.

About a year ago, I had a severe panic attack that completely overwhelmed my nervous system. Since then, I feel like my body has been stuck in survival mode. I deal with constant anxiety, hypervigilance, derealization/dissociation, head pressure, dizziness, and feeling unsafe in my own body.

It's gotten to the point where basic daily things are difficult. I haven't been able to work, I can't fully relax even when lying down, and I can't take naps because my body stays on high alert. I'm constantly on edge and easily startled. I do have small windows where I feel calm, but most of the time it feels like a constant battle with my body.

Has somatic therapy helped anyone with something similar? Did it help you feel safer in your body, calm your nervous system, or recover after a major panic response? I'd really appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences.

Thank you!

Never felt like this.

*Caution maybe triggering

I've had panic attacks but this was different. I am constantly dealing with derealization and went up on prozac recently to 20mg. All I know is my body became cold, numb, it legit felt like I was passing out which I didn't but was close. I became disoriented and freaked out. Had to call the paramedics whuch all my vitals were fine.

Normally with my panic attacks I get hot sweaty, chest pains, feeling horrible and shaky legs.

Anybody else had a panic attack that felt like that.

Brain Fog and Tightness in my head

Just curious about anybody else with these symptoms it's hard to explain but honestly they make me so dizzy and so out of it that it makes the deal realization 10 times worse sometimes my head hurts like crazy other times it's like a numb feeling in my head. Have a hard time doing basic things sometimes and I right now I can't even work in high stressful environments. Also I noticed that anytime I put effort into something the headache gets worse or if I'm in a public area pushing myself a little bit my face goes a little numb. Closing my right eye helps a lot sometimes especially when I'm feeling visually overwhelmed so I walk around looking like a pirate. Anyone else get these sensations.

EMDR for stress

So I suffered a panic attack about 10 years ago which left my nervous system in a high alert state. After this I did a lot of personal healing which included a lot of exposure therapy and granted I did go above sometimes but I was able to live a pretty normal life for the most part. About a year ago I had a pretty bad panic attack which left my nervous system stuck again at this time I'm noticing a lot more physical symptoms like major headaches that won't go away a lot of derealization definitely worse than the first time. I tried CBT therapy but honestly it just didn't help. It seems like my fear comes from my physical symptoms so it just seems like I'm scared of my physical symptoms more than anything I've tried breathing techniques and things like that but my body just doesn't come out of that fight or flight. If I can pinpoint what caused me to have these panic attacks it was definitely stress and I wasn't really taking care of myself as much as I shouldve been. Could EMDR help me? Maybe recommendations on any other therapy that's not CBT.

Headaches

I had a major panic attack ,about a year ago that left me with severe derealization. I have anxiety for 10 years but that panic attack made me feel like I was legit going to die or pass out. The panic attack literally made me feel like I was dying or passing out I turned white and everything. Since then I have been plagued with derealization. I've had it in the past but it usually went away I've heard that trying to live a normal life and not pay too much attention to it helps but since then I feel like I am slowly losing touch with reality. One thing I have noticed though it that I have a headache both in my fore head scalp and I feel numb in my right temple and head. The pain tends to shift from one place or the other. One thing that makes it feel better is when someone pulls my hair or massages brings some relief but then it comes back. It's pretty consistent and nothing takes it away. I also have this buzzing sound in my head that I notice when things are quiet. I've done every test imaginable from MRIs, CT scans, to a heart catherization. Therapy, SSRIs, neurofeedback, nothing has been able to touch it. Anybody else deal with this? Currently trying functional neurology in hopes that it brings some relief.

10mg to 20mg

Just switch my psychiatrist and he wants me to jump up to 20 mg I'm extremely sensitive to medication and starting Prozac was a little bit tough at least the first 3 weeks. Anybody go from 10 mg to 20 how was the jump? I know we're all different so I think I'm just looking more for reassurance than anything also it's 20 mg where I actually start feeling therapeutic dose?

Arizona peeps...

How does everyone deal with this heat my gosh I carry a hydro flask everywhere I go and I still fell like I'm going to passout. The other day I tried fixing my truck in my garage and literally felt dizzy when I tried to get up, I had to take a second to just lay there in the heat and hope it didn't happen (I've never passed out). Anyway how does everyone deal with this heat and Dysautonomia? Especially during the rain when the humidity kicks in.

Journal Speaking

Has anyone been doing this I just read Mind Your Body by Nicole Sachs and a huge part of it is doing journal speaking.

If you've read it and practiced the techniques how have you been doing on it? Has it been helping?

Maybe Check this out...

So I'm starting physical therapy for my dysautonomia and my neuro suggested I read Mind Your Body by Nicole J Sachs. As soon a I started this book the pages began to speak to me (literally as well I got the audio book lol). But the theory behind it is quite something especially when it talks about how to deal with chronic illness that comes out of nowhere. I will be putting into practice and come back to give my results. If you've tried everything with no result, I would highly suggest at least reading it. I mean at this point what do we have to lose 😁.

Hate that people don't understand...

This year has been one of the hardest years of my life I was diagnosed with panic disorder major depression ADHD and now dysautonomia. Aside from not being able to function and just being bedridden most of the time, I hate the fact that people just don't take the time to try to understand what it is we go through. I've explained to everybody close to me what's going on and they just kind of shrug it like it's nothing. Even with going through extreme detail it still doesn't register in their head. It sucks because on top of having to deal with this terrible thing now I have to deal with people's comments or people shrugging it off because "I'm not dying" which is literally what someone told me. Luckily I'm getting treatment and I'm hoping then the next couple of months I start functioning again but until then this really sucks.

Neurological Brain Clinics

I was recently diagnosed with dysautonomia and I'm trying to get some feedback from others who may have gone through something similar.

I've been struggling with symptoms for a long time, including constant, anxiety, depression, derealization, brain fog, mental fatigue, dizziness, balance problems, coordination issues, lightheadedness, blurry vision, light sensitivity, noise sensitivity, headaches, head pressure, tinnitus, sensory overload, bowel control issues, and a general feeling that my brain and body aren't communicating properly. It often feels like my brain is lagging behind everything around me.

I've had MRIs, CT scans, and EEGs that came back normal, but this is now my second QEEG where I was told my brain is showing very slow, underactive, fatigued patterns. The clinic explained that my brain appears to have difficulty processing information efficiently and that some areas are not communicating as well as they should. They also found signs of autonomic nervous system dysregulation and diagnosed me with dysautonomia.

The treatment plan they're recommending includes:

- Neurofeedback

- Neurological rehabilitation exercises

- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

- Low-level laser therapy

- Nutritional support and supplementation

- Balance and coordination training

- Visual and sensory integration therapies

I'm hopeful, but also trying to do my homework before investing a lot of time and money into treatment.

Has anyone here had QEEGs showing slow or underactive brain patterns? Has anyone with dysautonomia, brain fog, dizziness, balance issues, or derealization gone through treatments like neurofeedback, HBOT, laser therapy, or functional neurology programs?

If so, did you see meaningful results? What helped the most, and what wasn't worth it?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences.l

Severe anxiety, depression, and DP/DR

Suffering with all the symptoms mentioned above like to the point I can work because I just feel off everyday. The DP/DR is consistent and does not settle. I also feel a lot of brain fog and have a hard time thinking. Some of the other there symptoms are fatigue, Brian fog, chest pains.Right now I have trouble even doing simple things without freaking out. Did prozac help anybody this severe and if so how long did it take to see your results?

I'm on 10mg RN.

Is it working?

Hi everyone I'm new here and is the first time taking Prozac. I'm curious to know when do you know that this medicines kicking in and working? I started 2 weeks ago and had a really tougj time with increasing anxiety, headaches an daily disassociation (that one sucks). I noticed this afternoon that my nervous system had like a calming moment where my body just kind of felt loose and not as tight and the disassociation felt less. Wondering if that means the medicine is kicking in? Just wondering if anybody else felt that before.
