Prazosin for hyperarousal

Anyone else primarily struggle with autonomic hyperarousal (not nightmares) and been prescribed Prazosin? If so, how effective was it and how much did it take to calm your constant fight or flight?

America's #1 wholesale mortgage lender is down 80% since January. Sounds like 2007 to me.

UWM, the #1 wholesale mortgage lender in the country, has lost 80% of its value since January 16th, from $6.10 to $1.22. loanDepot, #6, is under a dollar and just got a delisting warning from the NYSE. Mortgage applications are at their lowest since 1995, when the country had about 80 million fewer people.

We've seen this before. In 2007, the mortgage lenders cracked first. New Century went bankrupt that April. Countrywide, the biggest lender in the country, lost most of its value and got sold to Bank of America in a fire sale in January 2008. Lehman didn't fall until that September. The lenders were the canaries in the coal mine.

Meanwhile, the Fed just raised rates. The average 30-year fixed is hovering above 7%, with daily indexes around 7.17% to 7.43%.

The typical household now needs about 38% of its income for a house payment. Lenders' rule of thumb says 28%. Over 30%, HUD calls you cost-burdened. The last time it was this bad was 2006.

The Midwest is holding up better. Pittsburgh is at around 28%. Nashville, Vegas, Florida and most of the coasts are stretched thin, and some of those markets are already falling.

Building costs keep climbing too. Tariffs raised material prices, and record diesel prices make every truckload of lumber, concrete and steel more expensive to haul to the job site.

Edit: Fair points in the comments. A big chunk of UWM's drop came from a $603M hedge loss tied to their failed Two Harbors merger, not just the market. I'm not saying it's 2007 again, just that the warning lights keep stacking up again.

Leech field in a drought

We’re in a drought here in MD. For the first time in 3 years, I’m finally seeing the exact path of the two branches of my leech field.

I’m assuming this is because of the effluent “watering” the grass above.

Stent removal - by me?

So had another stone dusted yesterday. Before the surgery, doctor asked me if she should “leave some string out” so I could take the stent out myself, or not “if I felt weirded out by that”

Of course I said I felt weirded out, haha. But has anyone actually tried doing that? I think it would be painful and awkward as hell!

8mm stone

So I had a CT scan on Friday that noted an 8mm stone just distal to the left UVJ. So basically right at the junction of my ureter and bladder.

What’s odd is that I haven’t had any left flank pain since Friday morning. Before that, it was pretty constant. I’m considering that maybe the stone has passed into the bladder. That said, I haven’t felt any groin pain or discomfort urinating.

Is it possible I could have passed a stone of that size and not noticed? Or perhaps it’s just in a spot now where it doesn’t block urinary flow, and so is less painful?

Week 5 - Morning Anxiety Worse?

So on Week 5 of being on 20 mg (previously on 10). Felt some improvement Week 3, but it plateaued / regressed a bit in Week 4.

Now a few days into Week 5 I feel like it’s cratering hard. Morning anxiety is through the roof, edginess and dread are almost constant.

I’ve never experienced this before when upping my dose to 20mg before. Brain is telling me things like I have a bad batch of pills or a corrupted generic manufacturer … so yeah, that bad! Anyone else experienced this?

I've been on Lexapro and and off since 2007, with dosages ranging from 10mg - 30mg. In the past couple of years I had to start again and was on 20mg but had been able to reduce to 10mg for about a year recently.

In the past two weeks, I've had some personal issues that caused an anxiety spike. While those issues have moderated, my doctor and I decided to re-up my dosage to 20mg.

Since the dose increase. I've been experiencing the worst morning anxiety since - like almost to the point where I can't get out of bed. Cortisol levels through the roof. I don't evem remember it being this bad. Is this rise in cortisol levels normal for the first week or two after a dose increase?

P.S. - adding in some Klonopin (which I hate) has helped a bit there. We tried Busiprone in lieu of Klonopin, but that put me into a near panic attack for the few days I was on it since it raises cortisol levels
