What is The Browser Company even doing?

I am genuinely confused, like, it’s not just “I think this a weird decision they made” anymore it’s genuinely what is wrong with this company bro

I like Dia, not for the AI features but because it looks nice on macOS.

But how does this company keep making these decisions dude, like, seriously I’m baffled.

Can someone please just tell me one successful thing they did since killing Arc? Ever since Dia was launched it’s been “OK we’re trying to fix things” *ruins things more* “OK we’re trying to fix things” *ruins things more* and it’s a cycle

And now cherry on top is they are paywalling the AI features, of the AI browser that was supposed to take Arc to the next level with AI… (after introducing paywalls already then removing them)

I am genuinely asking, has TBC literally done anything successful after Dia launch that wasn’t either trying to make it on par with Arc or a little thing that literally weighs nothing compared to the damage they’ve done to themselves? I literally can’t think of one time they did something successful after Arc it just seems like damage control since then

Does anyone know the color values of the gradient Apple used for the Mavericks suggested action button?

https://preview.redd.it/dvkdmx1qymhh1.png?width=619&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ca09e0cdecf4d4cfe2943b8124b0597f1e4c84d

I am trying to replicate the Mavericks "OK" buttons (picture attached) in CSS.

Here's how it's supposed to look like:

I'm having a really hard time grabbing accurate colors because of that shine Apple did on the buttons, does anyone have the hex values of the color without the shine? Thank you

What is up with Apple’s animations?

I don’t get it, Apple does make some of the most beautiful smartphone animations but recently (iOS 16 and later, not 26, 16) some of their animations weirdly bug out, and often at that, they’re still beautiful but now they tend to break.

There’s many examples and I hope someone backs me up but for example:

  1. Swipe down to open Notification Center quickly and the status bar icons just disappear and appear again with no animation.

  2. On many apps that have scroll bars, I’ve noticed if you trigger the keyboard and then close it, the scrolling just snaps to its positions without any slide.

  3. Don’t get me started on Liquid Glass‘s bugs, 27 fixed a ton of them but for example, in the latest beta there’s still the broken specular highlight animation when closing an app, overall the whole transparent-icons thing is a mess with visual bugs like that.

etc.. etc.. etc.. if someone knows more feel free to back me up in the comments if you know of more.

(inb4 someone in the comments complains about how they don’t notice these things, yes, this thread is not for you, you don’t notice these maybe little things as you use your device and that’s totally okay but there’s a significant portion that does)

Building Fictional Projects to Build my Portfolio [1]: Sufra

Hello! I am a front end developer with experience that dates back to 2020!

Recently I decided to actually build a portfolio to apply for jobs instead of just making hobby projects, and I thought making fictional projects is a great way to do that.

So, here's the landing page of project[1]: Sufra!

Built with Next.JS (React), technically OpenNextJS because I don't want to host this on Vercel due to their ties with Israel.

(OpenNextJS allows you to host projects on Cloudflare)

Please share your thoughts, thank you!

[ P.S: I know footer animations are a bit bad I am currently debating removing them all together but we'll see ]

New Siri noises are insanely annoying and play even in Silent Mode sometimes

(EDIT: by nosies I mean the chimes and bells etc)

Title, it is insanely annoying and I’ve already reported it but it just keeps going bing bing floorp whenever I ask a query and my phone is always on silent mode like Siri BE QUIET

If more people can report it please do so

Can I go for military exam tomorrow then take the verification that I am studying in college in August instead of when I take the exam?

Title, please only answer if you're certain of what you're talking about. I tried asking on Facebook and got no replies.

So, what exactly is the point of Gemini anymore?.

Gemini (for me at least) has always been the chat app for free users (if you were willing to put up with slightly bad UI and some other trade offs). You basically got unlimited Flash usage and you got some Pro queries which were enough for the rare times you’d need it (as a free user, for me at least)

Now yeah they refreshed the UI and (unfortunately, yes unfortunately) it looks so sick, I just got it on my iPhone and iPad but too bad you basically can’t use it freely because sneeze and your usage limit for the next 5 hours goes up by 2% or more.

I am speaking from the perspective of someone who doesn’t pay for AI and doesn’t use it that heavily, if I’m going to have to put up with strict quotas and weekly limits, I’ll just use Claude, quality of Claude is way higher imo and if I have limits on both obviously I’ll go for Claude any day of the week

(if you pay for Gemini and share my view please let me know)
