Repost: message to muslim students at state universities

reposting since the new batch will soon be in university
a message to muslim students in state universities.

i've realized it's the muslim students who are making it difficult to navigate the university in an islamic manner for other muslim students (in most cases). why are you making it hard for someone who wants to practice the religion? many of you might think it's just for fun but you are grown people who should have some level of responsibility.

there's a level of responsibility upon the guys to be respectful and give the girls some space, especially so if they want it. you should be aiding your brothers and sisters. fear Allah. you are not just harming your iman but theirs too.

moreover, ragging is mostly done to muslims by their muslim seniors. (muslims rag muslims, sinhalese rag sinhalese and tamils rag tamil in most cases) do you not realize it in its essence is not only un-islamic but also not human? it involves free-mixing and all the fitan. you muslims should be an example to others but you are set on following others. you should be protecting your brothers and sisters. what exactly is wrong with you people? i know some of you opt out and are not involved in ragging, may Allah reward you abundantly.

you are doing a disservice to the whole sri lankan muslim community. they let their daughters and sons to go and study and you strip them off their haya and iman. how unjust of you! some choose not to get an education because you didn't have the courage to make it a friendly environment to practice the deen. how unjust of you! you shall be questioned about it by Allah. fear Allah. stop this for the sake of Allah.

e.g. they make the male and female students alike sing etc. have some haya!

this was and is the situation in peradeniya university. in pera, there's an anti-rag party, which the muslims can easily join. my friend said that most people do not join the anti-rag because they'll be left alone with no help in some faculties. they rely on seniors to guide them and help them at times in exchange for getting ragged العياذ بالله . why can't all the muslims just join the anti-rag and stick together?

if any of you knows, someone from pera, let them send a message to the muslim majlis and put forward the idea that since ragging is in no way shape or form, compatible with islam, they may as well join the anti-rag. if one of you could maybe send a message to the muslim majlis, it would be so much better.

and for the new students, be educated about this before you go to uni and check whether there's an anti-rag community and try to join it for your own peace of mind and to safeguard your deen.

p.s. please do share this message with your friends who are studying at state universities. please do. i know of this because i have friends who are at university.

ذَاتُ الصُّدُورِ : this is such a beautiful phrase, was this phrase used in the pre-islamic arabia?

As I was reading the Quran, I came across this verse

I had to stop and admire the beautiful phrase. Was this expression used in pre-islamic Arabic poetry?

I'm very much a beginner in Arabic and it just is overpowering when you notice some things that can never be possible in English. Arabic is beautiful.

Serendipity - It's Origin is Sri Lanka

This word originated from one of Sri Lanka's old names 'Serendib' in Arabic and Persian. The word Serendipity was inspired by a persian fairy tale called Three Princes of Serendip, which I'm yet to read. I have always loved this word, but I love it more because I am from Serendib. I think Sri Lanka itself is a place which has a lot of serendipitous surprises.

assalamu alaikum. there are hifdh halaqas from masjid an nabawi online for brothers and sisters in various time slots. this is of course free of charge. may Allah reward all the teachers and everyone else involved for making this an opportunity for everyone.

you can join via this link https://reg.qm.edu.sa/

i have been benefiting from the halaqas for over a month now alhamdulillah. so, for sisters, you have to first create an account and click 'Register Halaqa' and then choose quran it's available in English if you are wondering. then, you'll be given a link to a zoom meeting where you'll be assigned to a halaqa accordingly at a time preferred by you. the default time is the madina time on the site, so join after about 30-40 minutes or so from their(madina) prayer time. it will make sense while you are creating the account. i hope. after about a week or two you'll receive an email with a link to your halaqa. during the halaqa, please ask for the whatsapp group link if they forget to give it.

i think it's pretty straightforward for the brothers but i'm not sure about how it would work.
