Non-metal bands that everyone who listens to metal likes anyway

My vote goes to Blue Öyster Cult. I've never met a metalhead who didn't love them

What are some others?

As much great tech death has been released in the 2020s, nothing has topped this album for me. Absolutely incredible mix of songwriting ability and technical chops

This album and An Abstract Illusion - Woe are my clear standouts of this entire decade so far (though I see AAL as more prog/blackened death than tech death)

These guys better not pull a Necrophagist, just drop this on us and then dip out. As far as I can find they don't tour anymore and I can't really find any recent info on them

Me, after nuking a city, enslaving multiple people, infecting the water supply, rigging an election, and then giving water to a homeless guy

I know most people don't miss it, but running across these types of comments from back in this era makes me nostalgic

It's weird, these days I still see people complaining about this type of attitude, but I never actually see the comments themselves anymore. The closest thing is "git good," which is more of a meme playing on this stereotype.

It just makes me smirk running across these, and thinking back how infuriated I would get if someone responded to me like when I was younger.

It's also funny trying to figure out if it's someone trolling based on that stereotype, or if it's a little kid being completely serious, trying to arrogantly defend his mad skillz and uber knowledge.

Anyone else feel like this, or are you all happy it's gone?

I tried asking this a few weeks back but got no responses. So trying again.

I have the base game Fallout 3 and have a good 20 hours in it. I just won an online auction for the GOTY edition with all the DLC for under $2, so I'll be switching to that when it arrives.

Does anyone know if the 360 will recognize the whole thing as a separate game, and I'll have to start over? Or would I just be able to pop in the DLC disk, download that, and keep playing on the base game with the same save file?

Anyone have any experience with this for ANY 360 game?

I've reached the point in the game where I'm starting to have a wide range of options for weapons and ammo, to the point where I can't use the carry space for all of them.

Previously, I'd carry one weapon per ammo type, but that's no longer possible.

What are your favorite weapons or "classes" of weapons when considering the following factors?

  • Damage

  • AP cost

  • Availability of ammo

  • Range

For instance, the 44 magnum is clearly a better pistol than the 10mm, but ammo is very scarce, making it a less reliable option except in more desperate scenarios

The hunting rifle is very reliable with good ammo availability, but it's outclassed by the sniper rifle in every way, especially having a scope.

I tend to avoid automatics since they waste so much ammo, but keep a chinese assault rifle with me for when I'm getting swarmed by enemies

So what are your favorite, most-used weapons that you can always count on having ammo for and still give you flexibility in VATS?

Can you go straight from Vault 101 to the Jefferson Memorial rotunda and complete the main quest without doing any of the main quests that lead up to it?

All the main quests seem to just be pointing you in that direction, not creating events that lead to it.

Do you even need to do the other quests, or can you just skip to the end if you knew about it?

Namely Nick Valentine or some of the members of the Railroad

When you interact with the newer model synths—like the Coursers or various synths you meet inside the Institute—these guys are generic, emotionless robots. No personality, just following their instructions to accomplish an objective with no other thoughts about it.

Meanwhile, Nick Valentine, who's supposed to be an old, outdated synth model, may as well be a living human being the way his mind and personality work. Yes, his appearance is less human, but the mind is what really matters. The escaped synths in the Railroad are much the same. They come across as real people with real emotions, which the new Institute synths don't.

Shouldn't this be the other way around? Why are the new updated synth models so much less dynamic and less human than the old ones?

I ordered Oblivion GOTY (original) upon getting an Xbox 360, but I've only ever played Skyrim as far as ES games go.

I know the leveling and character system is different in Oblivion, and that you basically have to plan out your build at the beginning of the game.

I'm going to save mage for a later playthrough once I'm more familiar with the game and it's mechanics. So I'm debating between a sneak archery and a sword-and-shield build, which I just did in Skyrim and loved it.

I don't really mind becoming OP, especially for a first time through, but I'd like to know if that's the case or if it's even viable at all
