Redundant?

They smell nearly identical to me

Sure there's some minor differences like Burlington has a cola vibe (smelling the most complex), Tygar being the freshest and sospiro having that insane projection and longevity (but also very dense)

Do you guys feel owning more than one of this dna is pointless? Am I making a mistake by selling my vibrato?

Is owning both of these redundant?

I have a decant of Fredrick malle the moon and it's my absolute favourite but I've come across a deal for potrait of a lady that's essentially a steal

I am 100% planning on getting the moon eventually so will owning POAL be a mistake or are they different enough to justify owning both?

Initio paragon 🫪

Paragon is one of those fragrances that I genuinely couldn’t figure out for the longest time.

It’s probably the most challenging fragrance in my collection.

At its core, I get a very noticeable sweet plum, but there’s so much happening around it. The opening is herbal and aromatic, with what smells to me like actual black pepper.... not really spicy or hot, but distinctly peppery.

And then there’s the Palo Santo.

This is probably the hardest part of Paragon for me to describe. You know how something completely natural can smell synthetic to you simply because you've never encountered that smell before? That's how Palo Santo feels here. It comes across as this strange plasticky, woody, slightly minty, smoky smell, almost medicinal at times. And somehow, it works.

Before I knew what Palo Santo was supposed to smell like, I honestly thought Paragon smelled like a women’s fragrance. There was something about that sweet, herbal, slightly powdery combination that I couldn’t immediately place. But after wearing it repeatedly and understanding what the fragrance was actually trying to recreate, I started appreciating it much more.

That's what makes Paragon so interesting to me. It's not immediately easy to understand. The plum, sage, pepper, Palo Santo, sandalwood and, strangely, oud (I do NOT smell any oud in here, and I'm an oud lover) are all pulling in different directions, yet somehow the result is somewhat cohesive.

If you're looking for something easy, pleasant and immediately likeable from Initio, Musk Therapy is the much safer option.

Paragon, on the other hand, absolutely needs extensive testing. I can easily see someone spraying this once and immediately deciding they hate it. For me, it's something that can feel like a 10/10 when the vibes are right.

I rarely expect something challenging from houses like PDM and Initio, but Initio Paragon took its time with me and gave me an experience I usually only get from certain ouds. .

Nawab of Oudh 🌹

The Most Complex Fragrance in My Collection

I don’t know how Ormonde Jayne did it, but they turned the classic Rose & Oud combo into something amazingly light, airy, and effortless.

While Iso E Super is doing a lot of heavy lifting to give it that airy vibe, the naturals in here are clearly top-tier.

Perfect for every situation but shines in dressed up situations. It projects and lingers but isn't intrusive

The Oud Reality Check:

This isn’t your typical Middle Eastern oud. In fact, it’s a bright floral fragrance with a clean, filtered oud in the drydown. They stripped away the smoke and barnyard density, leaving only the pure essence, just a slight cheesy/woody facet that peeks through once your nose adjusts to the florals. Oud purists might find it too clean.

Pro Layering Tip:

If you miss that raw funk, layer this with a good quality oud oil or a dark oud-heavy scent (like Nishane Favonius or amouage silver oud). The combination is absolute royalty in a bottle.

Verdict:

Don’t let the floral heavy note pyramid scare you off. It’s seamlessly unisex, wildly versatile, and a total masterclass in perfumery

Gentle fluidity silver 🛀

Before Francis Kurkdjian was ruining dior, he was an Alchemist who created icons of the industry...... Gentle fluidity silver being one of them

This just makes me feel put together

It's one of the only fragrace in my collection I feel is completely versatile. Be it hot or cold, upscale or casual, day or night...... It works in every possible situation you can think of

It smells super musky and clean but in a meditative kind of way. There's this metalic coldness after the initial spray that's super unique. On a hot day specifically, I feel like this cools me down. Calling it gentle fluidity silver was genius

It's also my bedtime scent ..... Calms me down

It's clean and fresh done right

You guys got anything that does clean and fresh better than GFS?

Thameen carved oud 🪵

To point out the obvious: this is a luxury Oud Wood alternative/evolution. To my nose, it’s actually closer to Oud Wood Parfum than the EDP.

Think Oud Wood, but make it slightly spicier, sweeter, a touch brighter, and much creamier.

Before going in-depth, if you know what Oud Wood smells like, you know the scent profile itself is a 10/10. A more potent, smoother, and more dynamic version is naturally going to score higher.

-> Scent Profile

If you’ve ever been inside an Indian temple during a ritual, this is the exact vibe. Imagine camphor, sandalwood, and burning resins with warmth from the fire... Carved Oud embodies that aura completely.

* The Opening:

Cardamom is the absolute star here, and it’s glorious. Supporting actors are cypriol and labdanum paired with amber and vanilla, giving it an herbal, creamy feel.....almost reminiscent of spiced milk tea. There’s also a slight earthy pepperiness grounding it. It feels super bright despite the heavy note list.

* Where's the Oud?

Supposedly there is "south indian" oud in here, but to my nose, i don't get a heavy or funky oud. The cypriol and labdanum combination is essentially the "clean, Westernized" oud accord they're advertising.

* The Drydown:

This is where it evolves again, and at this stage, it pulls very close to Oud Wood. Sandalwood becomes the main player, supported by cedarwood and a green edge (likely vetiver). Patchouli sits in the background adding subtle earthiness.

Unlike Oud Wood, which has an initial burst of spice before quickly settling into its static profile, Carved Oud is not linear. You get a fragrance that actively evolves throughout the day.

-> Performance & Projection

Initially, when I first received the bottle, I was super disappointed. The dent in my bottle comes mostly from testing its longevity right after unboxing (it lasted for days on clothes, but on skin, it was a meek 4 to 6 hours, similar to Oud Wood EDP).

I guess shipping/temperature shifts messed with it initially. Now, after letting it sit and mature for a few months, it’s fantastic. I'm posting this review because I’ve come to appreciate it so much more after wearing it consistently.

Carved Oud is what I’d call a mid-projector with great longevity. Even though longevity is now top-notch, the projection and sillage remain polite and for this specific scent profile, I actually prefer that.

I sprayed it on my wrist this morning, and 12 hours later, it’s still distinctly there. It creates a very intimate scent bubble with above-average sillage when walking past people.

The only times I get compliments on this are when someone is close to me and when they do catch it, they always ask what I’m wearing.

I feel it's slightly masculine-leaning, but women love it too (I’ve actually had a few women ask for the name so they could buy a bottle for themselves)

-> Verdict

Overall, a phenomenal, elevated take on a classic DNA

Unisex and versatile but lacks "beast mode" performance

Advice on Niche Oud Purchase

Calling all Oud comissioners of India

I'm looking for an oud dominant perfume* that's using real oud insted of oud accords (stuff like cypriol, cashmeran and benzoin shouldn't be the star, don't mind then in a supporting role).

Specifically I'd prefer if it was a smoky fruity oud like something with a sheesha vibe. Rose, saffron and leather are accords i prefer to be in there but aren't necessary

Don't mind a little funk but it should be wearable. Also not looking for any crazy performance/projection....

My preferences -

There are the perfumes/samples i own and I like which most likely (not sure) has real oud in it

Fredrick malle the moon (I know there's real oud)

Amouage king blue

Amouage epic man (old formulation)

Swiss arabia mukhalat malakai (an attar/oil)

Roja amber aoud

What I didn't like -

Amouage silver oud (too stinky)

Fredric malle the night (stinky )

Ajmal attar (don't remember but it was supposedly high quality and expensive, deep brown in colour)

Now most of these perfumes are expensive af but I have a budget, any recommendation under 20k is welcome and if you have something above it, feel free to share as well and I'll look into it later

I also know most of the high quality oud made in india really isn't available for us to use, they're taken to the middle East which is honestly a shame

I'm posting here cause this is the market I have access to, I want some recommendations to try out that's niche or artisinal with my preference. Please advise 😊

Thanks in advance 🙏

Btw, I have ordered some decants for rasasi boruzz oud (Indonesia, assam and Cambodia) which will take sometime to get here but I am not a fan of how their bottle looks so if there's better alternatives, please let me know

Montobaco intensivo 🏞️

Possibly the most complex citrus freshie i own

Beautiful, elegant, sophisticated and airy but also deeper than what's expected from a fresh citrus scent

Definitely made for spring but shines with heat and humidity, it gives this unexplainable cooling effect

There's an extensive note breakdown that includes suede, tobacco, "mountain air" and some florals...... funnily, I get the mountain air vibe

I think the juniper and clary sage give this clean ozonic feel and the moss with tobacco gives this light earthiness, they come together to mimic fresh air

It also lives upto the intensivo suffix, projects for hours despite smelling so airy/light

I don't think there's anything like montobaco intensivo (aside from its flankers) out there and I feels like the scent profile would be incredibly hard to replicate withoutit smelling cheap or overly synthetic.

Masterclass in modern perfumery and a scent that's signature scent worthy for the gentleman (it's definitely masculine leaning to my nose but I can see a lot of women falling in love with it)

Don't need anything else

Comfort is my only priority and for the longest time, crocs and birkenstocks were the only things I used for casual wear. I knew sneakers were the way to go if I wanted to elevate my game

Black was safer and less common but wanted white cause it went with more of my outfits ..... Decided to get both

Planning on getting another one, preferably brown suede so I have something for more upscaled occasions

Any suggestions?
