Driving in Tallahassee

Hello! I recently moved here from Jupiter FL for school. I’m still getting used to the roads and lower speed limits here but the drivers here are just something else. I don’t want to sound entitled but I know FL and South FL has bad drivers but here I can’t be going the speed limit, almost everyone’s zooming by me. Or am I the ahole for driving the limit especially around FSU. Feel free to drop any survival tips.

Thank you!!

Secure Parking for 3-5 days

Hello! I’m starting my junior year at FSU this Fall. I wanted to know whether there are any secure parking garages where I can leave my car for a few days when I go back home.

Edit: I live off-campus near the stadium and just don’t want to leave my car in my apartment complex.

How to mount the Uniden R4W?

Hello! I’m looking to get a R4W for my 2016 Audi A7. My windshield is tinted (ceramic), so I’m trying to avoid using the suction cups. I’m looking into a Blendmount but can’t seem to find one for my car. Should I just use the suctions cups? If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please lmk.

Thank you!

Do I need to change my address on my DL when I leave for school?

Hello! I’ll be going to FSU for two years this August. My dad owns my car, the registration and insurance is all under him. The address on my DL (in South FL) is his residence. I plan on coming back since I’m his dependent. I was wondering if I have to change my DL address since it’s about to expire anyway. I’ve heard that not updating your address could lead to a citation.

Thank you!

How safe is Hayden Rd to live alone?

Planning on living on Hayden Rd by myself. I know most parts of Tallahassee can be sketchy but is this part generally safer know? I am bringing my car with me and don’t plan on going out a lot at night. I could also live a bit further away and maybe take the bus or drive, not sure if that’s viable. I’m welcome to any and all suggestions!

Thank you!

Thoughts on The Warehouse Apartments (TLHRents/385Rent)

I’m interested in living here. Looks like a new development. Has anyone lived here before or at another property managed by TLHRents. It’s on Saint Francis St, anything I should know about? The other places I was looking at were closer to the Tally Strip and that neighborhood didn’t feel the safest to me. If anyone has any suggestions please lmk.

Edit: It is a 1x1

Sorry if this post violates the sub rules!

Hello! I’m thinking of renting a 1x1 at GrandMarc. I’ve read mixed reviews on reddit but the bad reviews I’ve read are all 4+ years old. Would it be wise to live here? If not, please suggest me some decent 1x1 or studio apartments that are at walking distance from the campus. I’m not looking for anything fancy. Anything decent, without bugs/roaches works.

Hello! I have accepted and committed to transfer to the CS program for Fall 26. I am interested in off campus housing and would like to hear some recommendations. I’m looking for a 1 BR or Studio apartment that is walkable to class (10-15 ish minutes) with free or cheap parking. My max budget is $1200/mo. Any other amenities such as a gym or pool is a plus but not essential. I am currently looking at the 759 apartments but I’ve heard the area is kinda sketchy. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

Hello!

I just received an update and my application was not approved. I applied as a transfer from my local CC with a 4.0 GPA, ECAs, and PTK involvement. Is it possible to appeal this decision?

Edit: Applied with Fall 25 grades and 1 pre req in progress.

Has anyone heard back from CLAS yet, now that the app deadline is over? Feel free to drop your major and when you applied. I’m feeling like decisions are gonna drop really close to the deadline, which sucks :( I applied for CS on Feb 28 with 1 CT course in progress.
