I absolutely hated the end of The Grace Year and I need to rant about it

I was into The Grace Year and read it very quickly. I know it requires a significant amount of disbelief but I don't really have a problem with that. However I finished it yesterday and I actually woke up angry about the ending last night lmao

You have Tierney's mom, who is the usurper and risking death and getting her leg caught in a trap and shit but she DOESN'T TELL HER DAUGHTER ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT?? For what reason? It can't be that she's scared of punishment. The best you could do is tell her some random sayings about streams and stuff? Can't even say something more direct like "hey this stuff in a well means you shouldn't drink the water" etc

On the same vein what are all these women attending these meetings actually doing? Because it sure seems like they go complain about the grace year and then do LITERALLY NOTHING. It's not like they were helping the other girls be prepared even in vague ways.

And it's not like her mom or dad's vague help helped very much! Sure she could chop wood and build rain barrels but when she was on her own in the wilderness she just starved and almost died. She was pretty helpless and only survived because of luck and a random man taking care of her.

AND MICHAEL. He is like "ok I'll accept your baby from another dude, and I'm gonna stop selling chopped up girl parts. BUT NOT SENDING A 7 YEAR OLD TO BE A PROSTITUTE IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE" Wtf? This is not addressed at all??

And I've seen soooo many comments about how rebellion is slow so it's okay she came back and gave up on actually being helpful. Except apparently not, because allegedly her daughter is supposed to come back and end the grace year in only one generation.

Just... ugh

Edit: Sorry if I didn't spoiler this right. I can't get it to work on multiple paragraphs 🤷‍♀️

Best option for small reusable panty liners?

I bought the period liners from period co and while they feel fine they are super long (go far up the front and back) which is not what I was looking for. I'm looking for something that will work for discharge/light spotting that is around the same size as the always ultra thin liners. I'm not a fan of feeling things that far back unless I need it for my period.

Failing at teaching cats to use cat door

I got my cats a catio and we have a window insert with a cat door for them to come in and out. If I keep the cat door propped open they will happily go out. But only one of my cats has figured it out and uses it. I've watched some tutorials online and I've tried tempting them with treats and slowly been lowering the door to try to teach them to squeeze through so they can learn, but once it gets to a point where they have to push the cat door at all they act like it's an impenetrable barrier and they don't even bother. I've showed them many times they can push it and they refuse.

Any tips that have worked for y'all? Bugs keep flying in my house if I keep the door open 🥲

Pets best closed my claim for no medical records even though they confirmed they got them

I submitted my first claim to pets best and they requested 12 months of medical records. My vet sent them. Then they closed the claim for not receiving medical records in time.

I talked to their support and they confirmed they received them but they needed to be uploaded, then his claim would be reopened automatically. It's been over 2 weeks now.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's taking them weeks to "upload" documents that were emailed to them?? Are they hoping I forget and they run out the clock? I've already been waiting over a month on this claim.

Hearing aids under $400 (I know they won't be good - please read post)

My dad is open to getting hearing aids. He has mild to moderate hearing loss (he hasn't actually had it measured so I don't know for sure). He refuses to let me spend more than $300, but I figure I can spend up to $400 without him saying they're too expensive and trying to return them. He will absolutely be looking up the price when I give them to him.

I have been reading this sub and I know the best OTC hearing aids are over $1k. And I know even better would be to go to an audiologist. I'm hoping these can be his entry into using hearing aids and then he will be open to going to an audiologist or at least getting something nicer. He needs them to last at least 8 hours per day before charging. What's the best option for this scenario? I would prefer something with a decent return policy just in case.

Corded, lightweight, vacuums for disabled person with pets

I have previously had corded upright vacuums that were too heavy and would cause pain that would put me out of commission for the rest of the day. I am now replacing a Dyson v10. It was great as far as weight and maneuverability goes, but became messed up pretty fast after the warranty expired. Lightweight and maneuverability are very important for me.

I have 3 cats, half carpet half hard floor. I have carpeted stairs and need to be able to vacuum my couch, so something that comes with upholstery attachments is preferable. I like the idea of corded stick vacuums but I know they're not very popular.

I am in the US and looking to spend $400 or less. I actually prefer open box / refurbished but I only want to consider refurbished if it comes with a warranty. Thanks y'all

[US] Photographer said you can't wear sleeveless tops in passport photos. Is this true?

I can't find anything about that online. My current photo is in a sleeveless collared shirt and I went in to get photos with the same type of top.
