Resources to help protect Big Bend

Hi all, I know a lot of us are looking for ways to help and not everyone is local to the region. I compiled some resources below for those who want to get involved in whatever way they can.

  1. Call your elected officials. Texas or not, this is a national park and it’s a national issue. The more noise we can make on the national level, the better! November is coming! Do not be afraid to remind them. Some good resources can be found at
    https://5calls.org/state/texas/texas-border-wall-big-bend/
    https://nobigbendwall.org/
    https://www.no-al-muro.com/

  2. Direct donations to local organizations

Rio Bravo Restoration Plant Rescue - Big Bend National Park Border Infrastructure Plant Rescue

  1. Attend peaceful protests if you can. Those local to Austin, there is an ongoing protest every Sunday organized by @SaveBigBend on instagram and more popups happening every week. Those local to the park, every Saturday in Study Butte there are ongoing protests. I have seen some in Dallas and talks of others in Houston and other cities around Texas. If you can’t find one in your city, organize one! You are not alone, and there are others looking for ways to show up. Some good instagram pages to follow that have been posting about popups below
    @SaveBigBend
    @ProtectBigBend5
    @NoBigBendWall
    @Big.Bend.Forever
    @BigBendConservationAlliance
    @ntlnwmn

  2. Buy merch to support the mission and spread the word. We have a highlight on our website and instagram @Big.Bend.Forever that highlights any merch we find. Help spread the word to make sure the legitimate fundraisers are getting the support!
    Big Bend Forever
    Chinga Tu Muro
    Keep Big Bend Wild
    No Wall Yall Shirts
    No Wall Save the Rio
    Dont Tread on Big Bend Flag

If I missed anything please add to the comments!

Tomorrow in Austin

If you can’t show up in person, you can still call your elected officials. https://www.no-al-muro.com has lots of great resources. You can also donate to Big Bend Citizens Alliance, No Big Bend Wall Coalition or Keep Big Bend Wild. And if you still want to do more to support the cause, there is merch being sold to support with proceeds being donated directly to the above organizations!

CBP accepting comments on border project until July 13

Do you love Big Bend National Park? Do you believe in protecting our public lands?

❤️ We need your help now!!! ❤️

Monday, July 13 is the deadline for submitting comments to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) related to CBP’s proposed plans for border infrastructure in Big Bend National Park & Brewster County.

Yes! Planned for within the Park itself!

➡️ Email: BigBendComments@cbp.dhs.gov

➡️ Subject line: “Brewster County Vehicle Barrier System Construction”

➡️ Message: let CBP know what you think about their proposed infrastructure for Brewster County, including Big Bend National Park.

❓What is planned for Brewster County?❓

"CBP is engaged in project planning for vehicle barrier system and road construction in Brewster County. The project involves the construction of approximately 17 miles of non-adjoining sections of low-profile post on rail vehicle barrier rather than 30-foot bollard-style pedestrian barrier, approximately 205 miles of new or improved patrol roads, and the installation of detection systems along the border. The vehicle barrier will feature steel posts supported by continuous steel rails, with alternating rail heights of approximately 4 and 6 feet, and rails spaced about 4 feet apart. Attributes may include, as appropriate to U.S. Border Patrol’s operational needs, fiber optic cables, utility poles, power cables, surveillance cameras, access and patrol roads and utility shelters along the international border." (cbp.gov)

There are some good suggestions as to messages themselves at Keep Big Bend Wild.

Questions? We're checking in frequently today!

Big Bend National Park

From our recent trip to Big Bend! For those who don't know the Big Bend region is currently at risk of having a border wall through the area. I encourage you to read more about it and help keep Big Bend wild! https://nobigbendwall.org/press/

Information on Big Bend Border Wall

For those who have not heard, the federal government is making moves to build a border wall through the big bend that would severely limit access to the Rio. Last week The Department of Homeland Security waived dozens of environmental laws to speed construction of border barriers and roads through Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. The move marks the first time in American history that the federal government has cast aside a broad slate of environmental laws, including the National Park Service Organic Act, Endangered Species Act and National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, in a national park.

I encourage you all to read more about this and to help us keep Texas Beautiful.

No Big Bend Wall

In awe of all the support this page showed to our post a couple of weeks ago for the No Big Bend Wall Merch! $1200 raised across 20 states was more than I could have imagined would be possible and I wanted to say THANK YOU! But there is still work to be done. Border construction teams started arriving in Big Bend last week. Call your senators, call the construction companies, donate directly to the causes. Don't let them put a wall through Big Bend.

Donate Directly: No Big Bend Wall Coalition, Big Bend Citizens Alliance, Center for Biological Diversity

Help Protect Big Bend

Hi all, this week the federal government waived dozens of environmental laws to speed construction of a border wall through the region. In addition to calling your representatives, my husband and I created some Save Big Bend merch to raise money for the cause. Double Tax Issue After Big Cartel Sync Failed

Looking for advice as I await possibly a few days on an answer from Printify Tax Support Team.

We use Big Cartel as our store front and experienced a surge of sales yesterday which was awesome but we realized Big Cartel and Printify were not syncing. After hours sorting that out with support, they told me that I would have to manually enter the sales which is fine, it was around 20 so nothing crazy (but a lot for our small business). When I went to create the sales manually, I am not being charged tax on the printify side, even though Big Cartel remitted the taxes from the order.

We already have the Resale and sales tax exemption certificate uploaded and taxes are not taken out of orders that are initiated through big cartel. Has anyone else experienced something like this and if so, was it resolved?

I do not want to delay orders by possibly a week, and we are donating all the profits from these items so I also want to make sure as much money as possible goes to the cause and it not lost to DOUBLE taxation.
