How do I cash a check made out to two people?

I moved out of my apartment I was sharing with another person and received our security deposit back today. The check is made out to me AND my old roommate so I know it would need both of our endorsements to cash. The issue is he’s in South America for the next 6 months. We reached out to the apartment to see if they could resend it just with my name and I would split it once deposited, but they said they can’t do that because both our names were on the lease and it could bring up legal issues for them. My roommate said I could just sign for him, but I’m assuming that’s illegal. The check is only for $200 so it’s pretty small, but just want to see how best to handle this. Thanks!

Can I ask for them to do a maki roll with rice on the outside (uramaki) instead?

Is this rude or a hassle if I ask for it? Sometimes I like to get a spicy tuna roll but I don’t like when the nori is on the outside.

Are foxes not afraid of humans?

I was in the California backcountry backpacking near Lassen and a red fox came up to me and my buddy while we were taking down camp. He stayed about 30 feet away and we thought it was pretty cool. We went off on our hike and said bye but then an hour later we saw him again. Then a couple hours later we stopped and sat down for lunch and he came up to us again. We know it was the same one because he had a white/grey patch of fir on his right side. We poured our leftovers out after and watched him eat some before we took off. I was always under the impression that foxes were scared of us, but this one seemed very interested. Anyone else experience anything like this? He was adorable, was hard to walk away.

Making a post because I’ve had this happen probably close to 20 times. Just because you know someone who works at the company you’re applying to, does not mean you should just blindly put their name down as a referral. I work at a pretty attractive company and about once a month I’ll get an email from workday saying someone put my name down as a referral on their application. Unless they text or call me before to ask for permission to use me as a referral, there is 0 chance I’m approving the referral. If it’s someone I’m not in touch with anymore I add a comment saying I do not know them. All it takes is a kind text and most people will be fine with putting their name down as a referral, but don’t just expect people to do it without asking, even though I understand many of these are because the person applying didn’t think I’d be notified of it.

So I’ll have a week like every other month where I literally only have like 5 hours of work to do. I also only get like eight emails a day. I’m early in my career so I really do want to learn and get as much experience as I can. I’ve brought it up with my boss a few times and he always acknowledges it but then doesn’t give me more. I’m worried if I bring it up too much it puts a target on my back if we ever have layoffs.

Edit: I should add to he’s given me a 4/5 in my two annual performance reviews I’ve had.

Looking for your favorite Beans rice and cheese burrito in SD, anywhere in or north of PB. Sick of these ultra thick tortillas with no flavors and 90% beans

Have had these about a year and a half and never replaced the spikes. Is it time?

I just moved out of my old apartment and spent an entire week cleaning the place out so I could get my security deposit back. Today landlord provided itemized list and is charging me $350 for a full detail cleaning. I called and asked why and he said that he charges a flat fee, so regardless of if the place is a dump or if there is one windowsill with some dirt on it, the tenant gets charged the full $350 unless the place is spotless. This seems pretty crazy to me, does it hold up to CA law? Thanks!

Edit: My lease states that apartment must be returned to original condition when you moved in, does not say anything about a required move out cleaning fee.
