How much context/information knowing about the old movies bring?

I like the mix of old [black and white] movies. It's very stylish and I think is an insight on Sugar way of thinking in the same way old tv was used in the 90's sitcom Dream-on.

Sometimes I recognize a few actors but I'm wondering if (besides the producers wife movie) there are all real?

I'm currently watching episode 7 and when he's talking about the event of the previous episode at Stallings' house there a scene from an old movie where a character look himself in the mirror and I was wondering if knowing about this particular film would had some context or clues. I paid more attention to this one because I didn't seems to clash a little with what I speaking about and the few flashbacks.

I hope this makes sense...

Is there a way to have real recommandation and intelligent grouping

For exemple I just finish watching X-men (2000) and thought "why not start watching X2". I expected to see it in "More like this" And I can see a lot of superheroes and some sci-fi movies but not a single X-men movie recommandation?

And when I got the the Suggestions tab every "Because you watched X" entries have the same 12 movies and don't even seems related to most of them.

Is there a settings or some way to increase the relevance of any of this Suggestions?

Is pixels.com / fineartamerica.com are real POD or more of a gallery type site?

I've been selling a few design for years on teepublic and redbubble and last year I decided to start using my pixels.com account that I opened years ago.

I took a small gamble and decided to pay the few dollars (20$, 30$ can't remember) that allow me to have more than 20 designs. After 6 month I did upload around 70 designs but I haven't sold anything (yet?). I don't intend to continue paying next year unless I recoup at least this year subscription, but I'm still curious to know if people are actually selling thing or if they only live on people's subscriptions..?

Note : It's not photography or painting but almost exclusively vector designs.

What App or solution do you use to keep track of your shows?

For years, I used www.myepisodes.com to keep track of the different shows I'd seen and which episodes I'd watched. But when I started watching more "exotic" shows, I noticed that many were missing (K-dramas and true crime shows, for example).

I then switched to DuckieTV, and so far it has worked well for the most part. However, it's no longer being maintained, so I'm looking for the best way to keep track of everything I watch.

I'm mostly looking for free and open-source apps. I don't want to spend $3 a month on a Trakt subscription.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Show, don't tell : Mike Flanagan in The Haunting Of Hill House Episode 1

https://youtu.be/_pdIRHq1BGc (1 minute scene) NO SPOILER AT ALL.

I started watching The Haunting Of Hill House for the first time yesterday and when I saw this scene i had to rewind and watch it again.
Without any information of specific dialogue about this you learn that the guy is estranged from his wife about something he did or said. And all of this is from the sub-text of camera work. The camera focus on his hand on the steering wheel with his alliance, the dialogue is about her waiting for him to say something specific...

If you compare this to almost any recent show (especially the Netflix one), the dialogue would probably sounds like :
- Hey wify, I know that we're not speaking right now because of [this thing he did] but...

When art start becoming about everyone instead of anyone we lost something..

Taskmaster Australia is killing it with season 5

We're only 2 episodes in but I find this season debut really funny and enjoyable. A little more than S20 (UK), but we're still reeling from S19 of course.. Do you watch TM Australia?

File Found : Project 2501 woman voice origin?

A few days ago I posted that I was looking for a woman dubbed Puppet master from the 1995 movie. I finally found the original windows theme that contain a wav file with this voice : https://limewire.com/d/ShYNa#uablyBUP4N ( available for 7 days only).

I found the file inside a windows 95/NT theme file on the Internet Archive here : https://archive.org/details/chocgits

There's also a bunch of other sound with different voices, none of which are from the movie. Also the phrasing is a little different : "My codename is project 2.5.O.1. And I'm a life form born in a sea of information"

So now I wonder, what is the origin? Was there an anime (episodes) before the first movie?

Around 2000 I had a ghost in the shell windows theme or something that contains a sound from what I assume was the GITS original english dubbed movie that said "I'm project 2501. Born in a sea of information".

For the life of me I kind find a version of the movie with a woman dubbing Puppet master. Did I dreamed this?

We collectively hated Ben Linus for 5 seasons, then loved Harold Finch for another 5 years, then hated Leland Townsend for another 4!

And of course we all love his wife!

That's on the first page of results for "nausicaa". On this picture, results #3, 6 and 8 are obviously old bad AI design. Easily recognizable by their horrendous spelling mistake first even before looking at the design. #1 as the benefit of the doubt...

I know that AI image generation improve rapidly and this won't probably be an issue much longer, but still, most of the results page are now full of very low quality designs. With al we know about the theory of choice, the difficulty to acquire new client I don't understand why there's nothing done to try to limit the low quality slop that poised this open POD.

Can someone explain to me why they don't even try?
