Vanderbilt Shuttle Summer Schedule?

Hi, sophomore undergraduate from South Carolina considering living in Vanderbilt summer housing and commuting to a downtown internship this upcoming summer. Does the VandyRide shuttle run during the summer or would I have to purchase a bus pass? I am not familiar with Nashville bus lines, is there one that would run from Highland Quad to Centennial park or thereabouts? Would a summer ID be eligible for the bus fare?

Breaking in Riedells?

I am a 19 year old ex-ballerina just starting out and I recently got new skates, a pair of Riedell Crystals 6B and had my first public session yesterday. Overall they felt great but I'm worried about the width. They're a little tight around the arch area due to my having a very low profile foot, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to try and mould them to my feet a little more. I think I might have been wearing the wrong socks and maybe laced them a little too tight. Overall, they feel really good, and I can't return them, they're just a big snug around the middle of my foot. Will they soften in a few more sessions?

am i a lefty?

I'm a college student and ex-ballet trainee who's wanting to try figure skating and has been skating at public sessions to get a feel for the ice. I can't take LTS until next summer, so I'm just kind of twiddling my thumbs until then and trying to get back into flexibility/strength/stamina so I can make the most of LTS and work more on technique/skating skills than have to build up athleticism again. I've also been learning the different jumps off-ice and something that baffles me about skating that's different from ballet is that it seems skaters only practice/perform jumps rotating one way?? In ballet we're obsessed with symmetry; everything you do on one side you have to. be able to do on the other. So how can I tell which side to practice off-ice jumps on?? From doing ballet turns like pirouettes, fouettes, italian fouettes etc., I was always faster and more comfortable rotating counterclockwise, but in off ice skating jump exercises, my axis is way more crooked rotating counterclockwise than clockwise. So far I've just been practicing on both sides but it seems like a waste of time to practice both if most people really only practice one side or the other. I can land singles on almost all of them rotating both ways and my takeoff is definitely stronger and I get more height rotating counterclockwise but my checkout is a lot stronger/axis is straighter rotating clockwise I am so confused.

edit: i will stop doing off ice jumps, lol

alignment on extensions

Hi! I’m a 19 year old former ballet dancer who’s hoping to start skating soon! I’m coming off a 4-year hiatus from ballet and am trying to start conditioning again off ice so I can have some strength/flexibility built back up when I am ready to start learning elements and that’s going well (calf/ankle strengthening, takeoff/landing shock absorption exercises, spin/rotation practice on turnboards etc). The main problem I’m running into is the alignment of certain extensions seems somewhat different in skating than in ballet because of the fact that ballet heavily emphasizes outward rotation and turnout. I know that because of how your blade is angled towards the ice you can’t turn out every skating foot, but what do you do with the other leg? And how much are you allowed to tilt or open up your hips and pelvis? I know in ballet everything is supposed to be very square but with the momentum/balence on the ice I feel like I see skaters “hinge” more from the hips and open the extension differently. I’m trying to regain my scorpion, needle, bow and arrow extensions and don’t know if I need to be using ballet alignment or shift to something else

Sinus Pressre making me want to die

Has anyone found a way to reduce the sinus pressure that is sometimes a side effect of this godforsaken drug? I constantly walk around feeling like there's a giant binder clip over the bridge of my nose and behind my eyes, I can't sleep, I can't focus, it is driving me insane and makes my headaches so much worse. I've had other worse side effects from this medication but the sinus pressure has been by far the most annoying.

Heteromantic Ace/Demisexual

I decided back in March that I wanted to convert to Catholicism from Anglicanism and am readily looking forward to OCIA in October but I am experiencing some skepticism and conflict (as I'm sure all converts do) around some of the sacraments, particularly the sacrament of marriage for the following reasons; for the past two or three years I have identified as vaguely asexual and not possessing any intrinsic desire for intimacy, and as a result have not had a particular inclination towards having children. However, the vocation of marriage is still quite appealing to me. Now, this seems to pose a challenge for a Catholic marriage since it seems like Catholic couples and women specifically are meant to both posess and act upon the desire to conceive and rear children. I have been told by both Catholics and Protestants who I've brought this up with that a chaste marriage isn't in full fulfillment of God's design and that if I'm not willing to pay the 'marital debt' I shouldn’t get married and don’t ‘deserve’ to get married. Although I understand this in a doctrinal sense, Josephitet feel right to me. As I see it from here, there’s basically two options: get marit itand participate anyways in said conjugal acts, or surrender the desire for marriage and dedicate my life to celibacy. While I have no major objection to either, something about it doesn’t sit well. I understand that the Church also acknowledges a Josephite Marriage as a valid form of matrimony but when I’ve asked other Catholics about it it seems to be frowned upon. I am starting to lose hope because I am afraid of being unfit for marriage because I don't have a natural desire for intimacy and don't want to disappoint a potential future partner

ace/demi but heteromantic

Are there any straight ace/demi guys? I feel like I have never met one and I'm starting to get scared because I'm Catholic and the expectation for Catholic couples is procreative sex pretty often it seems and I'm scared because I want to get married but I don't want to plan the rest of my life around marital intimacy and childbearing even if I will remain open to it.
