Wait so the Ordnance Heist weapon locker doesn’t make a loud noise and alert the lobby??

With all the complaints I saw people were up in arms about the event.

“Need to wipe the lobby before getting the gun”

“We don’t need to play it first, we know how keys work and play”

“Another map event that will get me killed by trying to interact with it”

Anyone willing to retract their statements now that the event plays nothing like what people expected?? So much complaining for nothing.

Can we play Ordnance Heist first?

Maybe getting keys will be easy, maybe the loot will be worth the risk, maybe people will run away from the noise because youll get the gun and mess them up.

Point is, we don’t now. Can we just try it out before complaining?

This sub is so negative.

Vault Breakers is a cool idea but a couple suggestions for improvement

Honestly at first I hated the idea of Vault Breaker and PvE modes but I think it’s interesting and a good way for players to learn Cryo before being thrown in against other players. I think it should be difficult as this should be end game PvE content paired with lower level PvE content when the PvE mode fully releases but a couple of things I hate about it:

- there’s no reason to fight bots after you get clearance level 2, the optimal strategy is to run away from them and just get monitors and solve vaults as quickly as possible. Even better if you have assassin and can invis/ smoke and just do your vault objectives. This isn’t really an engaging mechanic, give me a reason to continue to fight.

- let me swap my guns in my kit for further customization or improve weapon drops in some way. Being forced to use a scar/ magnum every time isn’t fun, and being limited to Volt throwers or the very rare other weapon is lame.

- let me add EMPs to my kit, the RNG for EMPs for the compiler fight is a stupid mechanic, make that an upgrade.

- add an incentive to get level 5 clearance: make the gun at level 5 one that is good for the compiler fight like a gold bully or something and add more T2 vault data in the level 5 compiler room, seems like a missed opportunity.

It’s a mode I’ll play to kill compiler once for the charm and never play again so I’m not really the target audience but curious if others agree with my takeaways.

Cradle Prestige rewards are mid and the game is worse off for it.

I was super excited to grind out 7 cradle resets. The reason being that I could throw most of my vault at cradle and be forced to grind it up again along with some of the other top players, essentially leveling the late season playing field for newer players.

I reset my cradle once, threw all my blue, green, grey salvage at it and got back up to level 60 something, but I didn’t put in any weapons or shields and I won’t be resetting it again.

The reskins are awful skins and not worth the effort imo. I’m curious if other players that could be grinding cradle prestige feel the same way? I have a feeling there are other players like me who are now just going to sit on/ use their supply of purple/ gold items that otherwise would have gone to the cradle.

Putting out a challenge to all high level players - complete a compiler on a squad fill this weekend.

Friend and I took a squad fill through compiler. Wanna try to bless more people with a random first compiler kill, sadly they had already done it.. will be trying more this season for sure, it’s always a fun surprise telling someone you brought a DNA access card.

If you manage to do it, come back and share your experience!

Bungie made a PvP extraction shooter and attracted an audience that are actively hostile to the core mechanics. How did this happen?

The marketing for this game needs to be studied. Every day the sub is flooded with people asking for Sponsored Survival or a PvE mode.

The game is marketed as difficult, hostile, and unforgiving. Hell one of the tag lines is “dying is the first step” yet somehow Bungie failed to attract people who actually want the game they sold us.

Genuinely baffling.

Less teams on each map on S2?

Hi all, wanted to check if anyone else has been suspecting that there are less teams on each map this season? I want to add that I’m not complaining or saying it’s a bad thing, the game is playing really well for me even with the suspected change. Just want to see if others agree, to me it feels like:

Perimeter - 4 teams
Marsh - 5 teams
Night Marsh - not sure, don’t play it regularly enough
Outpost - 3 teams
Cryo - 4 teams

Can anyone confirm if they’ve come across more or if they feel the same? Just curious

We will likely never get another game like Marathon again, but I’m glad we did. Thank you Bungie.

Appreciation post for the team that worked on Marathon.

With the lack of commercial success we will likely never see Bungie invest heavily in to a niche genre like extraction shooters again, if they don’t get outright shut down by Bungie but for me this game is maybe my favourite shooter of all time.

The sci fi art style is unique and perfect, the genre is punishing/ challenging, Cryo is aspirational content with an end game boss made for only the most dedicated players. These things push the game to be niche but when you take all that and wrap it up in a AAA Bungie package with super smooth gameplay it really has everything I could ask for in a game.

Is the game made for a wide audience? No, but it is made for me and I’m sure that there are at least a small community that feel the same.

I feel like this game will have a cult following till the end and we won’t ever get something to replace Marathon.

With all the negative news today, just wanted to share something positive and say thanks to everyone who worked on Marathon.

Edit: i find it funny how many tourists there are in a sub for a game they don’t like. I can’t imagine spending so much time and energy arguing with someone over their own opinion.

Vault Breakers sounds super cool, but I have a question for the PvE enthusiasts in the community.

Will any changes/ PvE modes encourage you to ever engage with the core extraction loop?

Personally I love the PvPvE extraction genre and that’s what drew me to Marathon. I’m all for incorporating new modes for people to experience the world and learn the mechanics of the game but personally I hope that it brings people in to the core game modes. I would be super disappointed to see the core modes left by the wayside.

Do you see yourself engaging with the PvPvE extraction modes once you learn the maps and mechanics or is do you refuse to engage with any PvP?

Not sure who needs to hear this but it’s okay to lose.. some days just won’t go your way.

I see a lot of posts lately talking about how people feel like they need to step away after a bad session.. just wanted to share a bit of a nuanced take on this.

I’m by no means one of the best players in the game but I’ve managed to finish vaults and kill compiler a handful of times in season 1. I’m sure some would consider me a “sweat” but some days I can’t seem to get a single exfil, the other day I lost for 4 straight hours, chipping away at contracts and trying to progress through rep/ faction packages and filling with cheap/free kits. The next day I was clearing Cryo on a sponsored Cryo kit and exfilled 60k in one go.

The game has its ups and downs, some days things will go your way and some days you will seemingly just lose.

Try to avoid tilting, be patient, learn where you can and eventually the luck will swing back the other way!
