Bought some predatory mites a few weeks ago to help with some spider mites. Put my queen outside for an afternoon shower and now I see these! I assume they emerged from the soil but I'm terrified to bring her back into the shelf with the rest of my collection! Are these friends or foes??
This was on the trail from Smokemont to Charlie's Bunion
Just started seeing a change in my info after this thing has been sitting there for weeks, but I never saw the dewy appearance I saw on my Delta Force that indicated the female stage. Did I just miss it? Does it last 2 days or less? That's the max time I've gone without checking in on her.
I've had my Pi-hole off for quite some time now. I used it for a while and things were good enough, but like many people, some people want to play games with ad-rewards, sometimes my wife wants to hit a google suggested result when we're looking for furniture, etc. And since I had to accept that I would never-again be able to block ads on my smart TV/Nvidia Shield/phone(edit to clarify the services I use on these devices such as YouTube don't have ads blocked by pihole, not that they just don't work), I just didn't see the point anymore. I got a wild hair to check back in and see if any of this is able to be remedied. One thing I do see is "you're using too many adlists" which is fair, but at this point I'm not sure which ones I should be using and which I shouldn't. Are there "default" lists that I can pick and choose what I want blocked and what's acceptable, and go from there? See comment for my last config of adlists.
I got this Lance Leaf at a plant show recently. It seems to be a good sized pot, but was sold in 100% perlite. I found the cutest pot to set it in, and it had a big root sticking out the bottom, so I tied up a wick and set it with some water underneath. I feel like it looks fine for now, 3 weeks later, but the water level seems to be going down wayyy slower than my other plants in self-watering pots. I don't want to wait until it's suffering to do something if that doesn't work for these guys (or if perlite doesn't work in Semihydro/self-watering).
Not sure why the prupurea are such different sizes, they were the same when I bought them late last year and they are facing south. But otherwise I think things are happy!
My Delta Force has put out one or two leaves since I got it ~4 months ago, but since then it's been all inflos, and new shoots that appear to be leaf shoots don't make it long before browning out as shown. It also seems to be bending down away from my lights, but the queen next to it (and a few inches raised) seems pretty happy, is this expected?
I replanted my queen maybe a month ago, and didn't really think about segregating at the time. I've taken more notice recently about how top-heavy the mother plant was and would like to give it some moss to support, but I don't want to smother the baby. Both are unfurling a new leaf at this time. Should I wait, or is there a way to be sensitive and not double shock with another report/disturbance?
This is what's left after I took 5 already to try my hand at propping. I've had mediocre luck with alocasias this far (polly spider mites to hell, zebrina 1 leaf in 1 leaf out, etc), but this thing is just popping off like nobody's business!
Just got back from my first plant expo. Unfortunately they didn't have any of my planned purchases there so I just started looking for cool stuff. I decided to try out this Thai Caladium. I was leery of buying a plant in a bag, but plenty of people were spending much more from this vendor and others, so worth a shot. Came out of the bag and there is basically no structure. I took all of the moss off of the stem and roots. There were some rotted roots and a leaf came off, but the stem (cannot think of the proper term) was still pretty firm.
I put it in this pot with a drainage layer under an air pod mix with a bit of potting soil added. I have not watered it as the moss was quite moist before I took it off. However, I did spray down the stem and surrounding soil with peroxide to hopefully get some oxygen in there.
Looking for any suggestions/hope to see this bad boy bounce back. It's on my plant shelf with several grow lights, seems to work well for my anthuriums and alocasias this far.
