Someone else posted their recently read fics and it gave me lots of new reading material, so I figured maybe I would share some that I have enjoyed! All MSR because they deserve to be together etc. If you have things I should read, comment them! X-Files fanfic is apparently my ADHD hyperfixation of the month 😂 There are such good writers in this fandom, I swear. Can I travel back in time and smack Chris Carter (I do love you, Chris, I'm sorry, I'm a potter too, let's hang out and throw clay) on the back of the head with some of these ideas?

What Now? by Skinfull - Mulder and Scully meet prior to being assigned as partners

The Accident by Little_Earthquakes - Maggie Scully gets in an accident and is in a coma. Mulder is there to support Scully, but also has to figure out his relationship with her brother.

Literally anything I’ve read so far by tatooedlaura. They’re all older so maybe they’re well-known but I had never read any and I’m obsessed. The Forgetting Series, Luck and Stubborness, and all 4 parts of the “Life” series are so good.

Amish Country by Lolabeegood - an oldie but goodie that someone previously mentioned to me, Mulder and Scully go undercover in an Amish community to track down a rapist.

Fragile Balance by thursdayinspace - I know others have recommended it but it's recently completed and I just loved it so much! Mulder ends up with supernatural powers while trying to solve a case. Read it if you’ve been putting it off.

Starlight, Love, and Other Unexplained Phenomena by heartbash - S6/7 friends-to-lovers fic, someone recommended it to me when I was asking for recs a few weeks ago and I loved it.

Hantavirus by MSR_Pusher - I'm glad I didn't find this until it was nearly complete. LOVED it, so good, 10/10. Also love many of the other fics by this author!

Teacher's Pet by Fandomme - WIP, Mulder leaves the FBI after the X-Files were closed and moves to England to pursue an advanced degree. Scully gets into trouble and his solution to protect her is to bring her there with him. I've really enjoyed this one so far (they've also got a series of little one-shots called I Don't Know; First Base that I've been enjoying). The only thing I don't like is that the author references some ex-wife of Mulder who "came out as gay and is now a man" in like everything they've written which is a little odd and makes me feel like I missed some lore or something 😂

One Small Step by CultureisDarkBeer - WIP, Mulder is on a new case and low-key "seeing" the detective in charge but thank god for Maggie Scully, the voice of reason. Also just binged the infamous podcast-mentioned The Complete and Utter Agony of Finding Happiness by the same author.

I have a group of approximately 24 coming to Phoenix in July and I am trying to find a location where they can have a nice dinner, preferably in a private space. I am not at all familiar with the area which makes this a little more difficult and I'm also striking out on places that have a private space that holds more than 16-20. Ocotillo and Rokerij were recommended to me, but Ocotillo is on a summer break and the private space at Rokerij only holds 16.

The group will be staying at the Embassy Suites near N Central Ave/Thomas Rd so something not TOO far from that general area would be great if possible. Somewhere with great drink selections is also appreciated!

Ok this is so embarrassing but I’m rewatching X-Files and it got me thinking about how I basically lived on the Gossamer Project website as a teen 😂

There was a specific very long fanfiction that I remember reading where Mulder gets meningitis or some illness and basically has to relearn how to walk/talk properly. I think Mulder/Scully were married but maybe that happens further into the fic, idk. I know Skinner plays more of a fatherly role in it also.

Please tell me someone knows what I’m talking about, I want to relive my teen years and read it again hahaha

My son turned 4 in March and will not poop on the potty. I have tried to be calm and gentle with him. I’ve (not proudly) cried in frustration. I’ve had charts and treasure chest and big prizes that have sat on a shelf in his view for months on end as incentive to please, for the love of god, try to poop on a toilet and he just doesn’t care. I’ve made him wipe himself, I’ve made him help rinse out his poopy underwear to make it a big inconvenience - none of it makes him want to use the toilet because he just doesn’t seem to care.

For a while, we came to an agreement that he could put a pull-up on to poop as long as he told me he had to poop because then at least he’d get used to acknowledging that he needed to go. That worked for a bit but then he went back to multiple little poop accidents a day in his underwear that he wouldn’t tell us or his teachers about until we smelled it and found it dried to him.

I’ve talked to his pediatrician and she says things like “He’ll get it eventually!” And “His stubbornness will serve him well someday!” And “it’s probably just gonna take a good stomach illness for him to figure it out!” And offering no other help or ideas. He doesn’t have any developmental delays.

He’ll try to hold it and have tiny accidents but he isn’t constipated. I give him MiraLAX regularly just to make sure he doesn’t get constipated and make this even more of a process. We will “practice” sitting on the potty where he says it “won’t come out” but he can poop within minutes as soon as I get a pull-up on him (and it isn’t hard poop or anything). I’ve started at least making him sit on the toilet in the pull-up. I tried the “hole in the back” trick today and it turned into a screaming nightmare. I’ve considered telling him we ran out of pull-ups but he also has no issue with pooping in undies (he literally tells me his poop “only comes out in pull-ups or undies”).

I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel like our whole family is being held hostage by poop which I know feels dramatic, but if you’ve also gone through this, I know you know what I mean. I don’t sign him up for fun things, we don’t go places, all because I don’t know if he’ll poop his pants. The most convenient babysitter option we have available doesn’t want to have to change/wipe the butt of a 4+ year old so we never even go anywhere alone as adults. I used to think “he’ll be fine by kindergarten!” because it was at least a long way off, but we’ve now been battling this poop issue for over a year and kindergarten doesn’t feel so far away anymore. It’s so hard to try and not react or act frustrated when I’ve washed or thrown away so many pair of underwear (4 in the last two days this weekend). I will literally take any ideas possible. I’ve even fallen for those stupid Instagram ads of ladies teaching you how to get your kid to poop on a toilet (not worth it in case anyone else is getting ready to hit “buy” like me).
