Anyone want to start a band?

Hey everyone, been into hardcore for a long time and have always wanted to start a band. I would probably play the bass, some of my influence would be Gulch, Volcano, Big As Truck, and Haywire. Based in Northern LA (The Valley). Willing to jam or even just record shit and send riffs online. DM me if you're interested. This is totally just for fun and not to be taken that seriously, just want to make some music with peeps! Probably play Sound and Fury and then breakup right after.

How dumb is opening a studio right now?

Hi everyone, so I work in post and do a lot of voice over for animation, video games, and audiobooks. And while I see most people saying how the industry is really bad right now I have not had a day off in life two years. I was thinking there is still a lot of need for voiceover studios. But my question is how stupid would it be to maybe go on my own and open a voice over studio. Anyone else in those line of work that can maybe shed some light on it from a different perspective?

How do you guys figure out childcare?

Hi everyone, me and my wife are in a hard spot. I work and my wife is a SAHM. We live nowhere near family and we have 3 kids. At the moment my wife is in need of getting an operation and will be out of commission for at least a week. I can not take off of work at the moment and I do not expect her to take this on by herself. We have friends around but no one we would ever want to burden and unload our three kids on all day while I work. We are looking for someone to take care of our kids but everyone we have found is asking 40 bucks an hour for all three kids age (9,5,1 1/2). Is this the normal going rate? Are we just shit out of luck? We have no family that can just come and take care of everything for a week. Already used up my pto for the year on a previous operation she had and just at a loss.

EDIT: as many people have come to say 40/hr is reasonable. We don’t really have to much experience with childcare and going rates, so sorry for thinking it was a lot. I make 35/hr so I might be working at a loss for the week which is fine. Sadly my work is normally very flexible and accommodating but this is a last minute operation for my wife and a lot of people are out and they can’t actually give me this time off for once. Thank you guys for the advice!

Commute from Simi to Burbank?

Hi Everyone, was wondering if anyone does a commute from simi to Burbank on the daily for work? I am looking at a new job and the offices would be in Burbank near Porto's on Magnolia.
Does anyone do this drive, and how is it? Is this drive a dealbreaker for anyone? I would be going in at 9am and getting out at 6pm.

Do you age out of hardcore?

Might be a little dumb but thought I would just ask. Do you ever age out of hardcore. I still love hardcore music, sadly don't go to shows anymore. I'm 33 and a dad so while I don't go to shows I still love the music, its what I grew up on.

Alright guys, what random cool gadgets are we asking for Father’s Day?

All my hobbies are super low maintenance and I don’t really need a new of anything. So what random cool gadgets and things are dads hoping to get? Maybe give me some ideas since my wife keeps bugging me and asking me what I want. I honestly don’t want anything but I’ll just throw something out to get her to stop asking me.

I've tried Reds and Zeff bbq and they both are not the good, they are mediocre at best. Reds is semi decently priced but honestly you get what you pay for and with Zeff bbq its on par with Reds and just stupidly overpriced. I've heard great things about green acres, but was wondering if there are any other awesome bbq joints in Simi that are actually worth a try.

Hello everyone I have some questions about what I should do with a personal windfall that me and my wife are going to receive within the next coming months. The total sum is around 3 million dollars. This is from my grandfather that passed. The man was always very good with money and lived withing his means but never wanted his kids and grandchildren to "Grow up with a silver spoon in their mouth". So no one from my dad and uncles ever saw any of that money, and by proxy never did we. So back to the topic at hand, so my wife is a SAHM and I work. I make around 110k a year but we live in a HCOL area. We have three kids and only one barely started going to school. So it made sense for my Wife to stay home because if not daycare for three kids would have been around 2500 a month. I wouldn't say we are scrapping by but we are nowhere near middle class. With this money coming in we are thinking if we should just invest it all and take some money out as we need it and as cost of living goes up and just let the money keep on growing or should we use half of that money to buy a house outright and then invest the rest and I still keep on working and then use some of the gains from the investment to subsidize our life as if my wife was still working. We are very good about living within our means and have no plans of buying anything fancy or blowing the money on things that are not necessary, So mostly just wondering what you guys would do.

As the post says, should we jump ship? I feel like I see less and less work on the horizon and a lot of friends are out of work at the moment and I honestly just don't know how longer I can keep going? Is it the industry because of AI or is it the industry is just in the shitter because the economy is in the shitter and will hopefully see an upturn eventually? Maybe its time to learn some new things and move on before its to late and im scrambling. How are you homies out there holding up ?

Hi everyone I’m a dad that is originally from the sfv but moved out to Simi 4 years or so ago. It’s been really hard to make friends out here. My wife goes to this “mom’s group” hangouts at parks and stuff. I thought why not make one for dads? Was wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting up for something like that? Our kids get to meet new friends and hopefully dads get to meet friends also.

Edit: I have a 9 year old daughter, 5 year old boy.
