The pans and the replacements

Charlotte tilbury (CT) super easy nudes - the beige is fully panned and the taupe is getting there. Realized I don’t use a lot of deep shades so I replaced it with CT golden goddess.

Sauerbraten Q (used the Joy of Cooking newest edition)

hello! I wanted to make sauerbraten since it is Oktoberfest season. I followed the recipe in the joy of cooking cookbook and it is nothing like my grandma‘s (or any I’ve had at a German restaurant). it was good but it didn’t quite scratch the itch. the recipe called for white vinegar - was that the problem? All the ones I’ve had before had a purple-ish gravy which makes me think it’s red wine/red wine vinegar based. She was from Essen if that helps narrow down regional varieties.

Very proud of this iteration of chicken noodle soup!

I got the basic recipe from my dad over 20 years ago. It’s my go-to when anyone is feeling ill and the “soup thermos” has gotten a lot of miles.

My dad was in a bad motorcycle crash last Monday. Tomorrow is his birthday. He’s since been moved out of ICU/hospital to inpatient rehab. I can’t bring him sweets bc he’s diabetic. So chicken noodle soup it is!

Unfortunately, the grocery store was out of rotisserie chickens (which is my usual method of making stock for time savings), so I had to buy a full bird, roast it, then make the stock - but man, if this isn’t the prettiest stock I’ve ever made!

This whole thing took a few more hours than planned but I hope he will be happy with the result when I take it to him tomorrow!

Recipe is pretty simple:

8-10 cups of good stock (generally make my own from a rotisserie chicken)

Meat from a whole bird (again, generally use a rotisserie chicken)

3 carrots, diced

2 celery stalks, diced

onion powder to taste (I have a texture thing with onions but use onion if you like it)

S&P to taste

2 cloves garlic

a few shakes of dried Thyme

and the star of the soup is frozen egg noodles (I use Reames, 16oz)

and I sometimes add ginger if I have a cold

Let’s talk King Ranch Chicken Casserole!

I have never heard of this before. I had a friend give me some peppers and I flipped through my Joy of Cooking (newest edition and first thing I’ve made out of it) cookbook and saw this recipe and thought it sounded good and tried it.

It was amazing and I am obsessed! I’d like to learn about spin-offs, secret family recipes, tips/tricks, etc!

Retail Brand: Glamnetic Super Short - Quiet Luxury. 2nd set ever and I’m officially obsessed.

Retail Brand: Glametic

I do not know what possessed me, as someone who never has worn press-on nails, i went HAM during the Memorial Day sale at glamnetic.

my first set was red medium almond (which was kind of hard to work with because I’m not used to long nails) so I thought I would try out super shorts today. I love them so much!!

the first set, I used the tab + glue method and got ten days before I lost a nail. Removal wasn’t too bad except on my thumbs. No damage.

this time, I just tried the brush on glue to see how many days I get out of them. I love the size and shape of these so much.

Cigar Bands - show me yours/where to source/resize!?

ETA: thanks for the help! I found an independent jeweler 5 min down the road from me. He can resize it from a 9 to a 7.5 (luckily it’s only a half ”fancy” band and the bottom is plain. $30 and two days and now I can wear a piece of family history! Best bday gift to myself!

greetings!

I want to treat myself to a 10 or 14k yellow gold cigar band style ring for my birthday. I would love to see yours if you have one and get an idea of where to get one!

I inherited one from my grandmother (14k) but it is too big and I’m not sure about resizing it.

Saddest pan 😢

Urban decay Smog e/s single. Depotted from original UD single packaging for use in magnetic palettes and was currently housed in an old Ulta single (hate what they did to my boy with the new nude/none magnetic packaging)

Would have considered repressing but the e/s is at least 10 years old 😳

My corgi attacks vacuums. We have multiple around the house but hairy floors - this simple silicon broom is a life saver!

Not an ad! u/orangefrogbro posted a question a couple days ago and i made a comment about how mine hates vacuums (and my espresso machine which makes mornings doubly painful). I mentioned I was waiting on a silicon broom to be delivered and it arrived that night. Very easy to use on tile and wood floors. She still barked. The more I used it though, the less she barked. Tonight, we tried it on a low pile rug and she was…fine?!

I’m embarrassed how much money we have spent on robo-vacs and stick vac that never get used (as well as our 16 !!! Year old Dyson ball) bc she barks and bites them! When the solution was a $30 broom lol.

Just throwing it out there for anyone else with the same issue.

Made a reading nook - pup has figured out she can reach the tissues and now it’s a tissue bloodbath, lol.

Chauncey’s favorite activity is ripping apart things. We give her boxes. She steals paper towels and napkins. If a receipt blows off the counter, it’s her best day ever.

I’m on the middle of redecorating the bedroom and now I have to probably rethink this whole reading nook idea…

Day one at home (12 wks) and tonight (1 yr + 2 days)

Tried to match the emoji to his face - day one was a smile but apprehensive, just like her unsure look; tonight, they were both all smiles!

My late pug accidentally scratched me very lightly in ~2014 while playing. The scar is still there and I love it bc I know he’s always with me.
