first page i’ve colored. and first time alc markers. be easy.

first time using alcohol markers and coloring, used some Ohuhu markers. i had an idea and just went for it, but i definitely learned the hard way that big spaces with multiple colors can get messy fast if you leave areas sitting too long. i know it’s rough, so be easy lol. still deciding if i want to keep practicing, but i figured i’d share it anyway.

Powered Bluetooth bookshelf speakers around $150: Edifier R1280DBs/R1850DB/R1855DB or better option?

looking for help choosing the best budget bookshelf speaker setup for a desk/music setup. i started by looking at powered bluetooth speakers like the Edifier R1280DBs, R1850DB, and R1855DB, but i’m also open to passive speakers + a small bluetooth amp if that gives better sound, better bass, or a better upgrade path.

budget is around $150 max if possible. used/refurb/open-box/marketplace is fine if it gets me a noticeably better setup. i’d prefer something i can get fairly quickly instead of having to wait on a long used-market hunt, but if the difference is big enough, i’d consider searching for the right deal.

the big placement constraint:
the speakers need to fit into desk cubbies on each end of a 96.5” two-person desk. each cubby opening is about 8.25” wide. if i remove the upper shelf and sit the speaker on the middle shelf, i have about 16.25” height available. depth is about 8” before the sides open up more, so width is probably the biggest hard limit. i can pull the speakers forward and angle them a little if needed.

what i need:
-bluetooth required, either built in or added with a small adapter/amp
-powered or passive is fine, whichever gives the best result for my use case and budget
-if passive, i’d want a compact amp/bluetooth amp that can be hidden or tucked away, not a huge receiver
-good sound for the budget across rock/metal/grunge/indie/classic rock and hip hop/rap
-bass matters. i know i may add a sub later, but since this is my current budget, i still want the speakers themselves to have decent enough bass and not sound thin in the meantime
-sub out or a realistic future subwoofer path is strongly preferred
-RCA/aux/optical or easy physical media hookup later would be nice for CDs/vinyl
-trying to keep the desktop clear and avoid a messy pile of gear

main questions:
-are the Edifier R1280DBs, R1850DB, or R1855DB good choices here, or are there better options around $150 used/refurb/open-box?
-would passive bookshelf speakers + a small bluetooth amp beat powered speakers at this budget?
-what compact amps should i look for if passive is the better route?
-what passive or powered speaker models would fit an 8.25” wide opening and still sound good?
-should i prioritize a setup with an easy subwoofer path, or focus on the best speakers/amp first and worry about the sub later?
-is cubby placement a dealbreaker, or can it work decently if the speakers are pulled forward and angled?
-any models or amp/speaker combos i should avoid so i don’t buy something i’ll immediately regret?

i know the placement and budget are not ideal, but we love music and have been going without a decent setup lately. i’m trying to buy once instead of grabbing something cheap that ends up disappointing. any recommendations would help.

Powered Bluetooth bookshelf speakers around $150: Edifier R1280DBs/R1850DB/R1855DB or better option? On tight budget!

hello all, i’m looking for help choosing a decent set of powered bookshelf speakers for a budget desk/music setup.

budget:
around $150 max for the speakers alone. i’m open to used, refurbished, open-box, or marketplace options if that gets me a noticeably better setup.

requirements:
bluetooth is required
powered/active speakers preferred
bookshelf size or slightly larger if they can physically work in my desk
as little extra equipment as possible
a good future bass/subwoofer path is strongly preferred
subwoofer output would be a big plus, even if i need to buy used/refurb to make that happen

models i’ve seen mentioned so far:
from my first Google searches and basic searching around, the Edifier R1280DBs, Edifier R1850DB, and Edifier R1855DB seem to come up a lot as common recommendations in this price range. i’m not set on any of them, though. i wanted to ask people who actually know audio better before buying something just because it shows up a lot online.

setup/location:
these would be used on a 96.5” two-person desk. ideally, i want one speaker on each far end of the desk, placed inside the side cubby openings and facing forward into the room. this is an art/work desk, so i’m trying to keep the desktop itself clear and minimal.

desk/cubby details:
each end of the desk has 3 cubby sections with 2 removable shelves. the full inside height is about 29” if the shelves are removed. each cubby opening is about 8.25” wide and about 8” deep before the side panels open up. so width is probably the biggest issue. depth may be workable because the sides open up after the first 8”, but the front opening is still only about 8.25” wide.

what i want:
i’m looking for the best sound i can get in this budget, knowing the placement is not perfect. i’d prefer powered Bluetooth speakers because i want it to be easy to use right now without needing to buy a separate amp/receiver. i also really want a setup that can grow into better bass later, because hip hop/rap is important to me and i don’t want to be stuck with speakers that can never take a sub or improve on the low end.
i want heavy-bass hip hop songs, 808 tracks, and songs with boosted/amped-up low end to actually sound full, not thin or like the bass is missing. i understand that may require adding a separate subwoofer later, but i want the speaker choice now to leave me a good path for that.
i want these to sound good while sitting at the desk, but also good enough to enjoy while doing things around the room or even in adjoining rooms if desired. i’m not trying to throw a party with them, but i do want them to have enough output and fullness that they don’t only sound decent from two feet away.
i’m also hoping to use physical media later, like CDs and possibly vinyl, so RCA/aux/optical input or easy expandability would be nice.

music:
a mix of 90s rock, grunge, alt rock, indie, classic rock, hard rock, metal/heavy music, and hip hop/rap. hip hop is definitely important, not just an occasional thing. i want something that sounds full and enjoyable across those genres, with a realistic upgrade path for stronger bass later if needed.

wire/cable plan:
i plan to hide the speaker wire/cables behind the desk and run them cleanly to each side, so i may need longer wire or extensions depending on the speaker set. ideally, i’d like a setup that doesn’t require a bunch of extra parts beyond maybe longer speaker wire or basic cables.

main questions:
- between something like the Edifier R1280DBs, R1850DB, and R1855DB, which makes the most sense for my setup?
- are there better powered Bluetooth bookshelf speakers around $150 or less that i should be considering instead, especially used/refurb/open-box?
- is it a bad idea to put them in these cubbies, or can it work decently if they are pulled forward/angled a little?
- should i prioritize speakers with a sub out because i want good bass later?
- would i be better off buying used speakers/amp instead, even though i’m trying to keep Bluetooth and avoid extra gear?
- are there any specific models i should avoid so i don’t buy something i’ll immediately regret?

i know this is a budget setup and not ideal placement, but we love music and have been going without a decent way to listen lately. i’m trying to buy once instead of grabbing something cheap that ends up disappointing. any recommendations or tips would help.

new to turn tables! help please!

new to turn tables here. i have inherited as well as acquired own my own a ton of classic vinyl records. i purchase them as well from bands/ artists that i like. i had a little collection going and would love to have a turn table set up in my living area to be able to throw a record on and enjoy it in pretty nice quality. ideally i would want to get a setup that will have my turn table near my vinyl collection and other media in the corner of the room that could play on my surround sound speakers that i am currently trying to perfect and set up (within my means). i am wanting to keep things as budget and affordable as i can!
my questions to you all are:

  1. what am i looking at spending to get one that is fairly nice and can play all without a lot of hassle and trouble that can play off of my speakers throughout my room?
  2. i may want to have it in the same room as my main tv, so could i have it have its own input that i could easily swap between my TV’s speakers with my soundbar/ speakers set up, as well as be able to bluetooth when i want on the same speakers and play vinyl on them all at different times?
  3. any other useful equipment or accessories that i may want to look into, learn, or have that would enhance this experience/ make it more enjoyable or better in anyway that isn’t very expensive?

anything that i may not be considering/ missing please i would appreciate your input. this was just a quick little post to dip my feet in and get some knowledge and insight about turn tables and how i could get it to practically use and easily go to my other media on the same speakers. if that isn’t really a good or viable option then any suggestions would be great! thanks again i just want to hear me some vinyl again it’s been too long. i have only just listened to friends/ families and never really operated or messed with one before. i would love to keep things as affordable as i can (i know that things are expensive these days so i get that but just as minimal as i can without really skipping out on something that could be HUGE or game changing) if i can’t then still suggest for me to save up to or strive for! thank you everyone! please be gentle!

hey all i have a shim shy in aluminum, aura sand slim pro, aura sand 2.0 zirc and x3
my question is where can i get a kit of extra magnets (various strengths to test what i like when modifying these) or do i have to build it?
any accessories, tools, or kit recommendations would be greatly appreciated as i’m getting into the slider game and want to be able to take apart and mod to my liking. haven’t been able to find an assorted kit of common sizes that i would need for these. thanks again!
