Building a stem based hifi system

I want to listen to any music (probably mostly recorded in stereo), run it through a "stem based" splitter - I believe most audio software comes with AI modules to be able to split into e.g. a 4 channels stem stream that's instrument specific per channel. Output into 4 speakers in a row (1 left, 1 middle/left, 1 middle right, 1 right, each spaced apart from each other). The goal is to create the sound image of sitting in front of a band, e.g. vocals on the middle/right speaker, drums on left speaker, bass on right speaker, guitar on middle/left speaker. I'm sure y'all have used software like Reaper or Pure Data to do this before - can you point me in the right direction?

Overall I want the sound to be more immersive, almost like a live event at home but avoiding a complex speaker setup needed for Spatial Audio.

Vitsoe alternatives for HiFi

Was looking at some alternatives to Vitsoe shelves for HiFi purposes and found mostly mid-century Danish ones - is there anything that you would add?

  • Royal System by Poul Cadovius for Cado (Vintage)
  • HG System by Hansen & Guldborg Møbler (Vintage)
  • PS System by Preben Sørensen for Randers Møbelfabrik (Vintage)
  • FM Reolsystem by Kai Kristiansen for Feldballes Møbelfabrik (Vintage)
  • String Shelving System — Nisse Strinning & Kajsa Strinning
  • Tomado — A.J. Dekker/Adriaan Dekker
  • CSS (Comprehensive Storage System) — George Nelson, for Herman Miller
  • Montana — Peter Lassen
  • HAY New Order / Pier System

also collected some of the visuals here.

Custom built home theater HiFi speakers

Built 5 plywood HiFi speakers for L/C/R and behind channels for ceiling suspension. 🚨

Was wondering why that is not more popular… but maybe there’s a reason.

Sound "painting" - framed speaker

A friend told me his wife is not particularly fond of big speaker boxes so I was thinking to keep the volume large but make them "invisible" I'd just make them look like art on the wall. Ended up with a floor standing stereo version - each section has their own woofer/tweeter. The main panels shoot straight but the top and bottom are angled to widen the sound stage. People have said it feels different than a regular stereo because you can walk around and still enjoy a pretty decent sound image.
