Need urgent help getting Italian student visa before 2 September 🇮🇹

Hello everyone,

I’m English and I’m due to move to Italy on 2 September to study, but I’ve only just received confirmation of my place last week, so unfortunately I’m now trying to sort out my student visa at the last minute. I’ve been trying to contact the Italian Embassy in London, but I’m having no luck. There’s no answer when I call, and emails seem to receive only automatic replies. I understand that I’ll need to submit my passport and that they may need to keep it for some time. Has anyone been in a similar situation or know of any way to speed up the visa process or actually get in contact with the embassy/visa office? I’m really worried about the timing and would hugely appreciate any advice, contacts, or experiences from people who have dealt with this recently. Thank you!

What's your ultimate vegan comfort food?

I'd love some inspiration! What's your go-to vegan comfort food? I'm talking about the kind of meal you make when you've had a long day, it's raining outside, or you just need something warm and satisfying.

Bonus points if you share how you make it or drop your favourite recipe.

Thank you all!

Mutation or normal?

My Madagascar periwinkle today popped a new flower....pale. I personally find it very pretty but this plant (a rescue I had for two summers now) never did anything lighter than the other bright pink flowers you can see on the side. All sound? Is it lacking nutrients? Am I still being a good parent?

In need of your expertise. Thank you

Is it too late to plant tomatoes?

Hello everyone I'm in Northern Italy and was thinking of planting tomatoes now, but I'm wondering if I've missed the ideal window. It's early summer, but we've already had some pretty hot weather. Would it still be worth planting tomato seedlings at this point, or is it too late to expect a decent harvest? If it's still possible, are there any varieties that do better when planted later in the season? Any tips for helping them cope with the heat would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Planning my first visit to Thailand

Hey everyone, I'm starting to plan a possible trip to Thailand and would love to get some advice from people who have already been there. At the moment I was considering going around September, but I'm still flexible. Is September a good choice, or would you recommend a different season for better weather and overall experience? I'm also trying to figure out which islands are worth visiting. I'd love beautiful beaches, clear water, good food and a relaxed atmosphere, but I'd prefer to avoid places that are extremely crowded or overrun by tourism. Are there any islands that still feel authentic while having enough infrastructure to stay comfortably for a while? Another thing I'm trying to estimate is the budget. I'm not looking for luxury travel, just decent accommodation, local restaurants, occasional Western meals, and maybe a few yoga classes each week. Roughly how much should I expect to spend per day to travel comfortably without being too extravagant? Finally, for those who have spent time there, how long do you think is ideal for a Thailand trip? I don't want to rush from place to place, and I'd like enough time to actually enjoy the country rather than just ticking off destinations. Would 3/4 weeks be enough? Any recommendations, tips, hidden gems, or things you wish you'd known before your first trip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Platycerium beginner

Hey everyone, total beginner here looking for some advice on platycerium care. I recently got my first staghorn fern and I’m really excited about it, but also a little nervous as it's my first one ever. Right now it’s still in its nursery setup, but my plan is to mount it onto a piece of bark and hang it vertically on the wall once it settles in. A few things I’m unsure about: how often should I water or mist it? What kind of light does it actually prefer in a home setup? Any tips on how to mount it on the wall and does mounting make care harder to water it? Best moss or materials to use between the plant and bark? I live in an apartment, so airflow and humidity are decent but not greenhouse-level or anything. I'm planning to put it next to the shower (big window in the front). Would really appreciate any beginner mistakes to avoid or general care tips from people who’ve successfully grown these. Thanks a lottt

I just turned 30 and I’m in that weird in-between space where I feel like I should have things figured out…but I don’t. I’m not in crisis mode or anything dramatic, just drifting a bit. Like I’ve been on autopilot through my 20s and now I’m starting to ask bigger questions about direction, purpose, what actually matters, all that fun existential stuff. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for books or movies that helped you reflect, reset, or see things differently around this age? Not necessarily super self-help-y (unless it’s actually good), but stories that stuck with you or made you think about life in a deeper way. Thanks in advance
