What is this stone set into my mom’s original 18k engagement ring?

(UPDATED WITH BETTER PICS :))

It was set into my mom’s original engagement ring when she got the diamond removed to be set in a different piece (approximately 12 years ago or so). She remembers them saying it was a sapphire, but not much else! It has flashes of purple/blue that are super hard to catch on camera, and the work was done in Sint Maarten- thank you for any/all help!

Saw this painting at an auction- is it real?

Not looking to authenticate a purchase! I’m just curious whether this could be real- I don’t have a photo of the back because someone was buying it for $900. Location is Toronto Ontario!

Tests as 18K- but what is the language??

Hallmarks are super worn down, but I’m so curious- where could this have been made? Are there any maker’s marks visible? Many thanks for any/all help!!
