Hey, I spent so many years of my life with you, and I loved every bit of it. It’s been almost a decade since we last saw or spoke, and sometimes I feel sad that we lost touch. I tried talking with you on wire for a while, but you eventually went silent, and life got in my way. I realise now that I should have tried harder back then. I’m sorry. I still wish I could talk to you about everything that’s happened in all this time. I hope you still feel the same about me, because I do, and I don’t think I’ve changed since you last saw me. I don’t know where you are right now or how, but I just wish we could meet again someday.

I loved you so, so much, even when I failed to show it. I watched you slip away from my own hands. I tried to hide how much it hurt in front of others but I couldn't bear the pain, and nothing has felt the same ever since. Maybe I was a coward, I still am, but I couldn't bring myself to face you in the moments when you needed me the most, so I chose to cry alone instead. I cried a lot over the years, alone, but the pain still lingers in me. Now, whenever grief finds me, I think of you, and I end up crying about everything all over again. It hurts so much and I want to stop but I can't. I don't know how to let go and if I even can ever. So I just wanted to say that if there is ever another time when we can all be together again, I hope I can show you just how much I love you.

I tried. Maybe I tried too hard, but I was honest about everything, and all I ever wanted was for you to try too. I shared so much because I cared. Now I keep wondering if it was so wrong for me to try, to share, and to hope. Maybe I should've shared less, but that's not me. Why does it have to end in grief? Why does it sting so much when all I ever did was care?

Hey just wanted to vent for a bit. 

A little bit about me at first. I'm 26 M, living alone and doing research currently, super introverted and I'm aroace as well. I had only two friends in school but after joining university we drifted apart and I lost all contact with them. Uni life was hard, I lived far away, people were career focused and I was too quiet so never made any friends there. Now while doing my PhD most people are older than me or are super busy into research so it's just impossible for me to connect. We have different timings and such too... You get the idea. 

That brings me to trying to make friends on here just to fill my evenings with something interesting. I tend to talk with people who are looking for daily chats, long term friendships etc. and I try invest only in a couple of conversations at a time. I try to get deeply involved, nurture the friendship over time etc. I don't care much about similar interests or timezones or whatever as long as we can reply to each other. I hate ghosting and I prefer people being upfront early if we don't vibe.

Now beyond all the bots, creeps, weirdos, and people who never reply back after 1 or 2 messages I thought I had found two really interesting people here. 

I talked with the first person on Reddit earlier in the year for 2-3 months or so. I shared my daily life, interests what I work on, they shared theirs but after a while they stopped responding without any messages. I sent a check-in message last month but never got a reply back. So that ended.

Then I met a second person last month who lives in a similar timezones as mine and I shared my life similarly, talked about how I got ghosted and how we both hate ghosting, moved to Discord naturally after a while, shared pics of places we've been to. I was into pop and they were into indie/garage rock, it's very different tastes but I checked out their favourite artists etc. I thought we had a good conversation going then I sent the daily check-in message yesterday and they replied they don't want to do daily chats anymore as they are talking with too many people and want to quiet things down. I agreed but still left my DMs open. That was the end of it I guess.

Now in both cases I feel super empty and sad afterwards. I guess I keep puting in a disproportionate amount of investment which isn't reciprocated. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do and it just stings... I'll get over it but it will take a week or so. 

In both cases they keep making new posts asking for more friends, daily chats and what not. I see those and I feel it's a bit annoying and hypocritical. 

I guess people aren't upfront in their posts or are looking for people who match their vibes and interests exactly. I don't think such "perfect friends" exist. Friendship to me at least is about compromises and nurturing it slowly. 

Anyway both times I had my heart broken a bit and wanted to leave this friend finding simulator. I guess I am on the verge of it, just to stop it from affecting me so badly. I guess it's ok to be alone and longing than feeling so much grief.

Hey, my timezone is UTC+5:30 so I would prefer people near my timezone but if the availability matches, timezone isn't an issue. I can play in the evenings (6 PM-10 PM) during weekdays and I am free all day on weekends unless I am asleep.

I have a large Steam library of 270 games but I haven't played most of them. I'm mainly looking to play a bit of Stardew Valley co-op but down to try any other games as well.

Bring those years back to me, not to change what happened, but to remember what it felt like when we were building something together, for I leave with the gratitude for what once was, sorrow for what it became, and the hope that time will be kinder to those memories than either the present or I ever could - I'm sorry.

I am into a lot of movies, tv shows, anime, kdrama, kpop etc. We can try to watch something together or just chat. I have a large Steam library but I don't play much on PC. Lately I've been addicted to Clash Royale on my phone, haha. I can try playing something like Minecraft/Stardew valley etc. as well.
