I'm a CS/Math undergrad and I've been sketching out a side project I want to build for fun, but I want to sanity-check it before I sink weeks into it.
An app that turns reading research papers into something closer to a game than a chore. You pick a domain (say, ML/AI) and a track (beginner/intermediate/pro), and the app walks you through a curated sequence of papers each one unlocks the next, kind of like a skill tree. Instead of a plain PDF viewer, each paper gets turned into a more digestible "journey" (structured summary, key figures pulled out, jargon explained inline), and once you finish, you take a short quiz to actually prove you understood it. Completed papers show up on a public profile basically a GitHub profile, but for papers you've read and understood instead of repos you've pushed.
I got tired of "keeping up with research" meaning doomscrolling threads and reels that overwhelm me for 30 seconds and then vanish. I wanted something that actually built retention and gave some proof of the work.
I'd genuinely love your take on a few things:
Would you personally use something like this, or is "gamifying paper reading" solving a problem nobody actually has?
Does the GitHub-for-papers profile idea sound like a real flex worth showing off, or just vanity metrics?
Anyone tried something similar (or seen one) that flopped? What killed it?

Bms says the ticket transfer will only operate 24 hrs prior to the event. So people buying tickets rn, how are you guys planning to get the tickets from the re seller?
