Placenta previa resolving?

Hi all, I’m having a discouraging day. I was diagnosed with placenta previa at a 17 week ultrasound. I was just scanned again today (26w5d) and it is still COMPLETE previa. Hasn’t budged a hair. I’m starting to lose hope that it will move. My MFM was talking like it’s already pretty much a done deal that I’ll be getting a c-section, which leads me to believe that he doesn’t see many complete previas resolve at this point. I know I still have some time….but I’m just really sad because I wanted a low intervention vaginal birth. This is my first baby and I’ve done so much research and been trying to prep my body…I’ve hired a doula….ive been seeing a midwife team…it feels all for nothing.

I just wanted to hear if anyone out there with previous babies had a COMPLETE previa that resolved later on in the late 2nd/early 3rd trimester. Or just send some words of encouragement ❤️‍🩹 thank you

Omnipod 5 still delivering insulin during lows

Ok, we all know the Omnipod algorithm is incredibly conservative and loves to pause insulin. Well, the last couple of days, my Omnipod has NOT been doing this and continuing to deliver basal even when I’m low. This has never happened. Is it a fluke pod or did something change with the update?? It even kept delivering insulin last night when I was even lower than this.

AC taking forever to cool

Hi all, I have a 2019 Kia Forte. Just trying to figure out if I should bring my car to the shop or not, as well as if this might be a fairly simple/cheap fix or something bigger. We’re having a hot summer here in my area and I’d say anytime it’s over 90 degrees outside, the AC is taking forever to get cold. It DOES get there, though. For example, today it’s about 95 outside and I’ve been running my car (driving around) for about 30 minutes and the air blowing is just starting to get fully cold (instead of just “cool-ish”). Do I just need to top off some fluids? Maybe replace my cabin filter? Or would this be indicative or a bigger issue? Explain like I’m dumb because I really know nothing about cars 🫣

Would you buy a book for a client

I see Medicaid clients and so many of them have no income and are in constant financial crises. If you thought a client would really therapeutically benefit from reading a certain book, would you buy it and give it to them? I’m thinking it would not be framed like a “gift” but more so “my practice buys up books so I can give them to clients when it’s therapeutically relevant.” (I own my own practice). This is obviously a bigger financial investment than, say, printing off a worksheet and giving it to the client to take home. Thoughts?

Good news of Omnipod 5 peeps

Just met with my endocrinologist this morning and she alerted me that Omnipod 5 has officially released the target glucose of 100! I have an iPhone and know that my omnipod app updated about two days ago. I was able to go in and adjust the settings for the new target. I think if you’re using a PDM you have to set it up with a new pod (and your pod has to be made this year for it to work?). Anyways, yay 🙌🏼

Unmedicated birth with induction?

FTM 14w5d. Has anyone done an unmedicated birth with induction and want to share how it was for them? I am very interested in unmedicated birth (no idea if I’ll do it but I’m doing a lot of exploring!!) but hearing all these horror stories about the pains of pitocin.

As a T1 I’m really expecting the docs to push induction somewhere between 37-39 weeks as that seems to be the standard from what people say on here. I am doing a lot of research on how to advocate for myself and minimal interventions, but will ultimately do what is best for the health of me and my baby if it comes down to it. Potentially helpful context to add is that the hospital I will be birthing at is managed by a team of midwives who are well versed in low intervention birth, there are birthing tubs in every room, and it seems that they have a slew of other helpful tools.

Newborn cold weather

I’m due in mid-November and live on the mid East Coast. What are people putting their fall/winter born babies in to keep them warm when going outside of the home? I see the full body puffer suits that seem appealing….but part of me imagines it’s hard to get a squishy little newborn into one of those things. I have no idea!! First time parent here. Do you just put them in a onesie and then cover with a blanket?

Question about ring slings

Hello! FTM and first time posting here. I was watching videos from pediatric physical therapists so that I could gauge what are some of the best/healthiest options for baby carriers. I saw a few recommendations for the ring sling style of carrier, especially for the newborn stage. Here’s my question:

I am a large chested gal and have always struggled with back pain. I’ve noticed over the years that when I’m out and about for a while with my cross body bag (especially with even the slightest amount of heavy items in it) my shoulders and back begin to killlll me. I’m thinking a ring sling, being that it just goes over one shoulder, might end up being something very painful for me….especially with the weight of a baby on it. I was curious if anyone who perhaps also experiences shoulder pain from cross body bags has tried a ring sling style of carrier, and what your experience was?

Im still early (14w pregnant) but trying to think about my registry choices. Thank you 🙏🏼

Mockingbird stroller infant options

For those who have/had the mockingbird stroller, which option did you go with for the newborn stage?
-newborn insert
-car seat attachment converter
-bassinet

I love the look of the bassinet, but don’t like the idea of having a whole extra clunky item to store. Does anyone absolutely swear by getting the bassinet and can explain what huge difference it made for you? I talked it over with my husband and we feel like just getting the newborn insert is most practical. Haven’t 100% decided on a car seat yet, but I don’t love the idea of HAVING to buy one that’s compatible and moving different pieces around…plus I’m leaning towards an Evenflo car seat, which is not compatible! Please weigh in since this is my first baby 🙏🏼

32F, FTM, type 1 diabetic since age 9…12 weeks pregnant!

Ok, I’m feeling a bit discouraged by this process and dealing with mixed signals from doctors. My OB is telling me the following: she wants me to wake up with a fasting BG of 90 or below, be 140 or below 1 hour post meal, and 120 or below 2 hours post meal. I told her I wake up in the morning around 110-120. At my appt a couple days ago, she literally said “there’s no way you’re going to have a vaginal birth if you stick with those fasting blood sugars, OR your baby will have to spend time in the NICU.” Her perspective, from what she has shared, is that if I can keep my blood sugar completely low and controlled, then my baby won’t be at risk of any more complications than someone without diabetes would be. Well guess what, I AM diabetic and I can’t trick my body into believing it’s not. I know she just wants me to have the healthiest pregnancy possible, but it’s really stressing me out and I’m going to be starting with MFM in the next week or so as well.

Meanwhile, my endocrinologist has been super supportive and says I’m doing the best I can. We meet every 2 weeks and make adjustments to my ratios. My last a1c was 6.5, which is the lowest it’s ever been in my life. I started the pregnancy around 7 a1c and have been trending downwards with the healthy changes I am making and tighter control. The biggest thing that’s causing my craziness is that my endo says all of the guidelines and data that OB’s and MFM’s base their blood sugar recommendations off of are based on studies done in like the 70’s before we had CGMs and pumps…aka just had data from random finger pricking and couldn’t see the whole picture of time in range, etc. Has anyone else been told this? She said there is no data to support different outcomes for a baby with mom waking up at 110 vs. 90. She also mentioned that since I’m on Omnipod 5, the algorithm is going to keep me as close to 110 as possible and you can’t really “trick” it into keeping you lower without risking doing a bunch of extra stuff that would ultimately lead to many hypos (which also isn’t good for baby or mom).

I just feel stuck between two doctors and two different philosophies….getting anxiety from my OB and hoping my endo is right. Please weigh in with your experiences and thoughts because this is my first rodeo!!
