Got engaged last week in the mountains!
Last week we got engaged in the mountains. I really love my ring and I can’t wait until next September to tie the knot, also in the mountains. If you can’t tell, we LOVE the mountains.

Wedding planning has been in the works for months but I just got engaged so it’s getting more real. Our plan is to have a ceremony in the mountains on Sunday, September 27, 2027 for immediate family and our bridal party (~45 people), and to have a small dinner after the fact. Then, a week later at home, we want to have a bigger reception (~110 people max) that will include friends too, as well as a few more family members.
My question is how do I do the website for all of this? We have the venues booked and everything, but not everybody is invited to both the ceremony and the reception. Do I just use the website for the ceremony and not use one for the reception? Do I use 2 different platforms? I’m just unsure. Save the dates will be going out in January so I have time to figure it out, but I’m hoping maybe someone did something similar and has an idea.
I know our ceremony/celebration is unconventional, but we’re really excited about it.
I’m so in love with this ring and so excited to marry my best friend! Ring size is 6.5, the ring itself is platinum, and the diamond is a lab grown 1.9 carat diamond. It’s EXACTLY what I wanted and I think it’s gorgeous.
I’m 5 years out and have had a few setbacks a couple of years post op with meds that caused weight regain and a gnarly lisfranc injury, but it’s been a lot smoother rolling the past year or so. I still have ~40 pounds to go till my goal of 130, but it feels CRAZY to be even in the “overweight” category as I’ve been obese since I was 15 (and I’m almost 28). It’s just crazy to fit into straight sizes and be able to do things I couldn’t do before because my weight held me back. I’m so grateful for the tools I’ve been able to use (sleeve included). I feel so much better than I used to.
The title basically says it all. We are having a joint bachelor/bachelorette party for the bridesmaids and groomsmen (and obviously me and my fiance). Nobody has the money to go out of town, my fiance and I don’t drink (some of our friends do a little bit but not like they used to), and we generally don’t go out because of the whole not drinking thing.
I was thinking of making it a full day: having brunch at our house and then renting a catamaran on the lake for a couple of hours (we live on the Great Lakes) and having a game night afterward. Would that be too busy? I’m such a planner and get anxious when I’m not involved in the planning. My friends know this, so they’re helping how they can but are letting me do what I want. I just want everyone to have fun.
Other ideas would be really appreciated!
