My Subway Tier

After giving up my car 6 months ago and returning to the subway, I felt like it was an appropriate time to do my own Subway Tier list.

This list is based off my experience with all the lines listed, and for some reason, I have managed to ride all of them except for the Rockaway Shuttle in these past 6 months.

Some factors I considered were:

Frequency - How long the headways were while I was waiting or planning to take the trip

On time performance - Did the train the train depart the terminal at the originally scheduled time (per the MTA app and SubwayNow)

Rolling Stock/Efficiency - In my personal experience, i’ve had more frequent service and faster trips on routes that rely on NTT, but I do have a soft spot got the R68A(GO or flagging does not factor).

Ashland, VA

Hey all. I’m considering taking a day trip to Ashland, VA as I heard from Danny of Distant Signal (will link the video) that it is an amazing place to railfan. Does anyone know what time the first (and last) long range trains typically pass through? I’m considering catching regional 67 that arrives at 9:20, but I don’t necessarily want to miss the fun stuff. Thanks in advance.
