Founder here, built a small platform for Tamil people around the world to connect

Hi everyone!

wanted to share something I have been quietly working on. My name is Besant, and I built TamilFeed.com, it's a space for Tamil people all over the world to post, share and stay connected with each other.

Growing up in the diaspora, I always felt this gap. we are spread across so many countries but rarely have one place where we can just see each other, share what we are going through, celebrate our culture, support local businesses or just feel less alone in a new place. That feeling stuck with me for a long time and eventually turned into this project.

It's still small and growing, built solo with a lot of trial and error, but the goal has always been simple. Give our community a home online that feels like ours.

I am not here to sell anything, just wanted to share it with people who might understand why this matters. If you get a chance to check it out I would be grateful, and any honest feedback means a lot to me

Thank you for reading. I'm happy to share more about the journey if anyone is curious

Are we missing a dedicated online community space for Tamils?

Tamils are everywhere—in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, Australia, the UK, the Middle East, and many other countries.

Yet most of our conversations, events, businesses, and community updates are scattered across different apps and platforms.

What if there was one community hub where Tamils around the world could:

  • Discover local Tamil events
  • Find trusted businesses and services
  • Share community updates
  • Support Tamil-owned businesses
  • Connect with Tamils across different countries

Not another Facebook or Reddit, but a community-focused platform designed specifically for Tamils worldwide.

Do you think the Tamil community needs something like this, or are the existing platforms already enough?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and what features you'd find genuinely useful.

What if there was one global community hub for Tamils?

Tamils live in almost every corner of the world, yet our community is spread across countless Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, Instagram pages, and local websites.

Imagine having one community hub where Tamils everywhere could:

  • Share community news and updates
  • Discover local businesses and trusted services
  • Promote cultural events and activities
  • Find deals, opportunities, and recommendations
  • Connect with Tamils across different countries

Not another social network trying to replace Facebook or Reddit—but a place built specifically to help the global Tamil community stay connected.

Do you think the Tamil community would benefit from something like this?

If yes, what would be the one feature you'd want it to have?

I built a free community site where real people share restaurant deals from their city. Finally live.

I finally launched something I have been working on for a while. It is called Restaurant Daily Deals and it is a free community site where real people share restaurant coupons, daily specials and price drops from their city.

The idea is simple. You spot a deal at a restaurant near you, you post it. Others can vote it up and mark it as got it. No algorithms, no scraped data, no affiliate junk. Just real deals from real people.

No sign-up needed to browse. It is completely free to post too.

Right now it covers 16 countries including Canada, the US, the UK and Australia. Categories include fast food, pizza, coffee shops, fine dining, happy hour, buffets and more.

It is still early days but I am really proud of where it is. Would love for people here to check it out, post a deal from your city and tell me what you think.

I have been running a free promotions directory for Sri Lanka businesses since 2011. Here is what I learned.

Hey r/srilanka,

Back in 2011 I started mypromo.lk as a simple way for Sri Lankan businesses to list their deals and for people to find them in one place.

It is still running, still free for businesses to list, and still one of the few local platforms where you can find bank card offers, restaurant deals, hotel discounts, and seasonal sales all in one spot.

I am posting this because I still meet business owners who do not know the platform exists. If you run any kind of business with active promotions, you can list them on mypromo.lk for free and reach people who are already looking for deals.

No ad spend. No complicated setup. Just submit your promotion and it goes live.

Happy to answer any questions about the platform or what it has been like building something like this in Sri Lanka for over a decade.

Hey r/canadadeals 👋

I've been working on a side project called DealDeal.ca - a free deals aggregator built specifically for Canadians.

Here's why I made it:

  • Most deal sites are US-focused or cluttered with affiliate noise
  • I wanted a clean, simple place to share and find Canadian deals
  • Anyone can submit a deal for free

Whether it's grocery sales, tech discounts, restaurant promos, or local offers - it's all welcome.

Would love your feedback, and feel free to submit any deals you come across!

Even without the federal rebate, this is probably the cheapest I’ve ever seen a new Model 3 in Canada. Some reports say it’s actually cheaper than the equivalent US pricing after conversion.
