Why do people want to have mental illnesses?

As someone who has one, it's not really something fun to experience. People who pretend to have depression or ADHD or bipolar or anything of the sort always seem to enjoy the disorder. It doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you WANT to have a debilitating condition? Never mind the fact that they're creating a whole identity out of their illness. For most people I've seen who have been confirmed to not have the disorder they claim to, they're posting about it all the time in ways that anyone and everyone can see. Do they not have hobbies? Do they not want all of their personal business posted where their friends and work can see? I've posted some too personal shit while hypomanic and after the episode I immediately take it down because it's embarrassing. For the most part I and most others with mental health issues see it as only a small part of our life. I just don't get it. Why fake something and then turn it into your whole personality?

Hypomania embarrassment

For a good chunk of summer I was hypomanic and undiagnosed. I'm now diagnosed and depressed. I posted here ranting angrily about how unbipolar I was and how mad I was that my friends suggested it. That was so fucking embarrassing. So was the amount of money I spent and the things I texted and the fact that I was blackout drunk pretty much half the time. I can't understand what I was thinking. I mean I almost up and left to move across the country with no money or job halfway through college. I'm so embarrassed. I wrecked a good few friendships too, by texting people I didn't need them and that I was too good for them. That's not to mention the way that I was acting. People literally thought I started taking Adderal. Hypomania is so fucking embarrassing.

Why do people act like this over scars

I was approached in public today over scars that aren't even SH related. I did used to cut, but on my upper thighs. As someone who cooks a lot, I have minor burns all over my hands/lower arms. This woman walked up to me and told me some bs about how I was a warrior and fighting a winning battle, etc. I'm genuinely so pissed, what the fuck gives them the right to say shit like that??

18f looking to make new friends

I'm 18f, going into my sophomore year in college. I respond fast and I'm not a ghoster unless you start getting weird. Any age is welcome to DM me to be friends but once again, don't be weird. I love to talk to people and while I have like 20 in person friends I think it'll be fun to chat with people outside my area.

Hobbies/interests: cooking, writing, hiking, tv/movies, art, pretty much everything

Did anyone else get more issues from being in the tti?

I was sent to a troubled teen program when I was younger and I swear it gave me more issues than I had. Not only trauma from seeing someone die during my stay, but also just picking up habits from other peers (like drugs and self-harming tendencies).

How do I stop my friends from suggesting I have bipolar

EDIT: Ok so, after reading the comments I think I need to educate myself more on bipolar and actually go to that therapy appointment and be honest. Shit, my friends might be right. (Also sorry if my ideas surrounding bipolar are like offensive I REALLY didn't mean it that way!!)

I don't know if this kind of post is allowed, and mods, feel free to remove if it isn't. Bipolar is a serious illness and I hate how my friends are trying to say I have it because it takes away from the experiences of those actually suffering. I've had 3 friends, one a therapist, suggest I'm in a (hypo?)manic episode. I'm not. My therapist friend suggested that I might have bipolar type 2 specifically, but I have zero clue what that means. I'm acting a bit wild, sure, but I usually get like that during the summer and it's not really an issue. It's kind of like I'm rebounding from being down like half the year. I'm not doing anything actually wild, I'm just spending a bunch and drinking/using more but I'm like super productive as well. I'm talking 4 AM runs, writing a book, getting real high grades in my summer courses, etc. Were I bipolar, this wouldn't be the case, I'd be having delusions and hallucinating.

I have made a therapy appointment because my friends literally begged but like only to prove them wrong. I need to know how to get my friends off my back, from people who are actually bipolar.

AITA for cussing out my "friend"?

I have this friend, let's call her Jane. I've known her for the past year, but we weren't really all that close. I only ever spoke to her because she's in the same floor in my college dorm. She loves to gossip, and as I've found out, she doesn't care who about. A while back I overheard her talking shit about me, saying I was two-faced and mean. I can be a lot at certain points, but never two-faced or mean with no reason. She then made up wild rumors about me, saying I was romantically interested in her (mind you, I'm a straight woman) and manipulating everyone around me. I recently got fed up after she kept on gossiping to and about me (middle school shit, we're sophomores in college) and so I texted her I hated her and she that was an evil bitch and then blocked her. AITA?
