NVME Pricing, Smaller Drive Increased Price

NVME Pricing, Smaller Drive Increased Price

I originally preordered my 13 Pro with a PCI Gen 4, 4TB drive. This was quite expensive. The more I thought about it, the more I think I should be fine with 2TB. And given inroads with ADATA I thought about the PCI Gen 5 2TB.

I went in and looked at changing to a 2TB version which, according to the screenshot should be about $150 cheaper. Instead, it raises the cost of my system about $80.

Then I tried the ADATA Mars 2TB. According to the screenshot, it should be about $6 cheaper. If I try to add it to my configuration, it increases my system by $250.

It is not making sense to me. Am I just not looking at this the right way?

EDIT - It was my original proce lockin apparently.

Fedora 44 Kernel Overwrote Surface Kernel?

The title says it all. I forced an install of the Surface Kernel from the F43 repositories. It was working great. I went to use my touchscreen and surface pen tonight to attempt some art. And I noticed the pen wasn't working and the touchscreen non-responsive. I ran a uname -a and received this: Linux fedora 7.0.13-200.fc44.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Jun 19 22:51:30 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

Has anyone else experienced this? I mean, I love the 7.0 kernel, but no touchscreen.

Cannot Remove Handle? Ideas?

I have a leak from my shower which is getting increasingly bad. I went to change out the cartridge behind the handle on this Delta Shower Faucet. I cannot get it off.

The handle does not have any set screws. The screw in the dead center of the handle here is how I suspected to remove this handle. It is behind a little cap that pops off with a small flathead screwdriver.

When I unscrew that center Phillips Head screw it unscrews to a point. I can turn it 360 degrees out at least 5 or 6 times. Then I feel a kind of jump like a thread was missed. It will continue to spin counter clockwise but never will come out. I tried a magnet but it didn't work. I can screw it right back in.

When the screw started jumping I tried to pull the handle off and it doesn't budge

My ideas are:

  1. I thought about getting a tap and die to remove it if I can fit it or drilling out the screw. I assume if I take this measure I should plan on replacing the handle.

  2. I saw handle puller devices in my research but I don't understand how they work or if they would be effective here.

What I don't want to do is cause worse issues. I tried researching online in Reddit, YouTube, Delta's website, and Google. Nobody seems to have this shower handle nor this problem. Delta doesn't have much to help either.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Am I going about taking the handle off wrong? Maybe some trick I don't know?

Wired Phone Charging USB C

I have a Galaxy Z Fold 7. I used to be able to plug in the USB C cable to the car's USB C port and my phone would charge to 100% while using GPS and wireless android auto. Now, my phone using more power than the car can supply and is going dead.

This is kind of crazy to me. I cannot, for the life of me, turn off Android Auto in a way that lets me connect wired. If I disable Bluetooth and Wireless, it detects the car and turns them back on.

Anyone have similar experiences? Recommendations? I am thinking of plugging in an external USB Battery that shows the flow rate from a USB charger to see if it is really putting off the right power. Any other ideas?

Fold 7 Battery Life since OneUI 8.5 Horrible

My Fold 7 upgraded to OneUI 8.5. Since then battery life went from able to go from 7am til 2am to 7am til about 6pm. It also drains insanely fast with Android Auto.

Anyone else having a similar issue? A fix?

Masters of the Universe Was Awesome! *No Spoilers*

Earlier today a buddy of mine and I went and saw Masters of the Universe. They pulled the 80s cartoon and all of the memes, mixed it with great actors, and a simple story to create a movie that was fun, funny, and with lots of action. They also really liked 80s Flash Gordon a lot and it shows in a few areas.

You don't need to be a GenX'er to love this movie, but it doesn't hurt. It was the movie I have been waiting for since the original when I was a latchkey kid after school.

Nicholas Galitzine was great as both Adam AND He-man. His Earth job constantly gets woven into the story in funny ways. Some cool cameos, Skeletor was amazing and steals the movie. The end credits scenes make me really hope we get some sequels.

It seems to be getting great buzz. Probably going to take the family to see it next week. If you are on the fence, my recommendation is to go see it.

Bazzite Question

I have a buddy that wants to change his older PC with an Nvidia 2070 Super in it I believe it is an Intel Core i7 and has 32GB Ram.

He is not tech savy. How much should I expect to have Bazzite run steady, booting to Steam Big Picture mode?

EDIT: Thanks for the replies. I haven't used Bazzite with Nvidia, but have with AMD. When I went to look, I saw the massive "be careful" on their website which I don't remember being there.

My friend decided to stay with Windows 11. This saddens me, but it is his PC. I also welcome not having to be remote tech support.

Framework Extended Warranty Questions

Prefacing this by letting you know I searched the Framework KB. I also found the Limited Warranty here: https://frame.work/warranty

I pre-purchased the 13 Pro DIY edition. I went in to update my order today and realized I chose the 3 Year Extended Warranty. When researching it I became a little confused. Hoping the community here can help. My questions are this:

  1. Is the Warranty any different than the 1-year warranty, like damage protection?

  2. Does the warranty cover ALL of the hardware purchased with the DIY kit. For instance, the 4TB SSD and 64GB RAM. I saw some conflicting comments about Memory and Drives. Something about having to deal with the manufacturer of those drives. Who do you deal with if something isn't working? Framework or a third-party?

  3. Does spending the $239 to extend the warranty make sense? Have you benefited from the add-on? Assuming the drive and RAM is covered, that would make me feel better, but if it isn't, that is another story.

  4. I don't know how much a new main board costs, but if it is comparable, does it make sense to just replace a main board at the time of failure? In other laptops this wasn't an option, but with Framework it makes sense.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this.

Modifying your pre-order?

I went to update my pre-order today after receiving a notification I could do so. When trying to change the bezel color, it raised the price from $10 to $49. Is anyone else having that issue or is it just me? After seeing some YouTube videos I realized the Translucent Orange Bezel looked way cooler with the Gray/Graphite/Orange (or Red) keyboard. I was also going to change my USB C Ports to the same color. Those priced out just fine.

I opened a support incident as per the instructions. Just curious what everyone else's experience has been?

EDIT: Support shared what the problem was. Apparently the Bezel's show at their original price. Since the Translucent Green and Orange are both $10 more than the regular bezel, that is why it showed at $10. When I selected Translucent Orange, at the $49 price and clicked confirmed, the entire system order remained the same. The Translucent Orange also now shows as +$10.

EDIT: This refers to the Surface Laptop Studio.

I am running Ubuntu 25.10 and would like to move to 26.04. I am running the Surface Kernel.

Has anyone done the upgrade as of yet? or did anyone install Ubuntu 26.04? If so, is the system and all hardware working?

I didn't see anything new on the Surface Kernel Github page related to either the release of Ubuntu 26.04 (or Fedora 44). I am running it on my desktop gaming PC and it is a huge increase in speed.
