Hiking prep

Hello! I am going on a trip where I anticipate doing some hikes (nothing crazy) and I want to start working more intentionally on my endurance and strength. Leaving in ~8 weeks so I know I won’t suddenly be a buff hiker but I do want to get back into a good routine so I feel strong!

What kinds of ride and strength classes would you take to start amping up your strength and endurance? I know Power Zone will come up which I’m open to trying but would love some other alternatives, too!

Currently thinking of 3 rides weekly, 2 glute & leg sessions, 2 arms & shoulders, core with every workout, alongside my regular dog walks. What would you add or adjust?

Sao Miguel tips

Hello! Visiting Sao Miguel in October and was curious to hear your tips for remaining respectful of locals and nature.

We’ll be staying at a hostel in a private room in central Ponta Delgada and will have a car to travel. We plan to visit/hike to multiple Miradouros, natural pools, and a visit to Sete Cidades for the black sand beach, among other things like pineapple plantation, tea plantation, gin library etc.

We’re Canadian so we are familiar with the basic conservation rules (no fires, no feeding wildlife, leave everything as you find it, don’t litter etc.) and understand basic human decency of course!

- Are there any other cultural norms and standards that we should be aware of?
- What is the standard around tipping?
- Is it more common to use cash?
- Are there specific ways that we can support the local economy? For example, are most bars and restaurants locally owned, or are there ones to watch out for?
- I hear that cockroaches are a normal part of the island as they’re bugs that live outside, any tips on how to avoid them in the back half of October beyond closing windows? I know they’re not “dirty” in Sao Miguel, I’m just scared of them!

And finally: where are the best places for seafood in Ponta Delgada? We want to eat all the seafood!

Thank you :)

Slouchy pleated pants but plus?!

Hey folks! I’ve been very intrigued by this fun slouchy but still put together silhouette of pants. I’ve been looking for a high quality pair that fit high waisted and offer plus sizes (US 20) but haven’t had much luck.

I’m in Canada so would love to support a Canadian business, but shipping to Canada is bare minimum!

No set budget right now, just looking to see what’s available! The last photo is definitely my favourite option.

Cult books!

Would love to read about a cult or cult like scenario. Fictional or non fictional. Preferably fast paced and horror/thriller-y.

I’ve enjoyed:
- The Scammer by Tiffany D Jackson (YA thriller)
- The Last Housewife by Ashley Audrain (thriller)
- Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter (cult adjacent thriller)

Ellen Hopkins… the gateway to weird girl lit?!

Any other weird girl lit fans feel like Ellen Hopkins is YA weird girl lit in a way? I was just thinking about her books and the comparison came to me but I’m curious if anyone else was obsessed with these books as a young teen and is now a weird girl lit lover as an adult?

Insulated water bottles?

I’m hoping to bring my yeti water bottle with me but I know historically metal water bottles are a no at venues. I checked the prohibited item and bag policy and the only explicitly prohibited material is glass. Does anyone happen to know whether insulated water bottles are allowed or whether they’ll be turned away?

Thanks so much!

Tunde’s 2000s Pop Ride

My first non-FTP Tunde class and it was AMAZING. She has phenomenal energy on the bike and her cueing is absolutely fantastic. Up there with Emma imo!

Playlist was incredible and made my dang morning.

Help me pick an upper body class for tomorrow morning!

Friends! I’m looking for a killer upper body class to do tomorrow. I really want to feel it the next day! Which one(s) have you loved lately? I LOVE Selena’s classes but would like to switch it up a bit tomorrow. I don’t vibe with Tunde on strength! Otherwise flexible!

Big Swiss & Milk Fed on sale on Kobo!

For my Kobo pals, Big Swiss and Milk Fed are both on sale for $3CAD and $2CAD respectively.

I know they’re pretty highly reviewed and recommended in this sub so this would be a good time to buy if they’re on hold forever at your library like they are at mine!

This class destroyed me

Selena’s 30 min Glutes & Legs from June 25 2026. I am in shambles today. Shaking and groaning every time I move 😂 It was such a fun one! The EMOM at the end has jump squats but she provided mods that were just as difficult but lower impact which I opted for.

Used bike post slippage

Hey folks! Hoping to get insight from other riders. I have a used Peloton (under 120 hours from the previous owner) and the bike post keeps SLIPPING. It is enraging lol.

I’ve done the following:
- Replaced my seat sleeve
- Applied carbon grip paste on the post

Still slipping significantly from an 18 to 11 within one sprint! I’m pretty sure I’m within the acceptable weight range for the bike so I don’t think that’s the issue.

I’m going to call the repair department again, but is this normal? Has anyone had luck with anything other than the two things I’ve already done? It’s a PL01 model original bike.

PowerZone

Does it ever get easier?! I just took my test class and was absolutely friggin spent. Is the secret just to keep taking power zone classes?! I feel like I may have started too high on my output but I couldn’t quite tell what the expectation was!

Looking for your recommendations on what my first ride(s) should be! Which instructors are must-dos? Any suggestions for length or style?

I have ~150 rhythmic spin classes under my belt (from the Canadian version of Soul Cycle) so not a beginner but haven’t ridden peloton classes before so totally open to act like a beginner!

Thanks team :)

Hey folks, I’m looking to buy a used peloton bike (likely just from Facebook Marketplace) and I’m curious if you have any tips on what to look out for to make sure the bike’s in good condition, and what you wish you knew when purchasing yours! Thanks so much :)

So wonderfully programmed and fun! Hit the back, biceps, and triceps — I learned that I do not pay enough attention to my back lol. My body was in shambles by the end.
