Changes and regression? Training underwear?

Baby is 7 months old.

Please give opinions/encouragement on misses and the value of naked time while on vacation, meeting new people, recovering from illness, and teething (a busy few days for my baby)!

And also opinions on (training) underwear with or without a PUL cover.

We’ve been doing EC since birth, and it’s gotten lazier in the last 4ish months. He’s in disposables now, and it’s led to us being lazier at offering the potty. He doesn’t cue much. There are a lot of misses. I hate cleaning his solids-poopy mess.

I’m not considering switching back to cloth diapers at this point.

Should we try naked time while on vacation? Or wait until we’re back home (in his familiar environment) and fully recovered and hopefully done with this round of teething? We have 1.5 more weeks of vacation.

Should I use underwear (instead of disposable diapers)? With a waterproof PUL while we’re out? I must be missing some info, cuz this seems like a great idea, but I don’t think people really do this…

It’s 2:45 am and I’m tired and wired (had caffeine oops) so my thinking isn’t super straight… so hopefully this makes sense?

Feeling great!

It is almost 3 am

But we’re in good moods!

My baby woke up maybe 30 min ago? Maybe he had to poop? He started solids almost 2 weeks ago, his poop schedule and poop consistency have been different.

I had posted about his first solids poop, which was in the diaper 😫 and how gross it was lol.

We had gone abroad for two weeks, without the potty, so he had been pooping in the diaper while abroad and for about a week or so afterwards (started solids when we returned, poop took about a week to become solids poop).

Anyway, he was making small babbles in bed at 2:30am (we bedshare).

I nursed him in bed, and he didn’t fall back asleep, so I put him on the potty, and HE WENT POOP ON THE POTTY 🙌 (I was smelling farts and thought I could hear him trying to bear down)

This is his third solids poop, and his second IN THE POTTY!

The first was in the diaper and it was SO DISGUSTING, I was like 😫

And I had been feeling regret about not taking the potty abroad, bc I thought he wouldn’t get back to using the potty.

But he’s back to pooping on the potty!!! And peeing most times he is offered the potty!

YAYYYY

NO RAGRATS

So thankful we have been doing EC, plus bedsharing! I wonder if I would’ve missed it had he been in a different room.

Now… the pooping schedule needs to regulate! But we’ll take the wins we have woohoo!

Solids poop and cleaning

… how do you clean them?!

Omg so difficult!

We used to rinse his poopy butt in the sink. Potty and changing pad were on the bathroom counter.

Today, he pooped while we were playing (ugh I don’t know his cues still!), and then I took him to the potty in case he had more (he hasn’t had “more” for months now though).

Placed him on the changing pad, opened the diaper, it’s a sticky kind! Plopped him on the potty, but the poop got on the backside of the potty.

Tried to rinse him… took forever.

I’m guessing we have to switch to wipes.

But, how do you guys clean the potty?

I just used my hand and hand soap to clean off the poop. (It was only a bit that got on the back)

But is there a better way? Especially if there is more poop?

Disposable diapers

If you do EC with disposables, please let me know how you do it

I am gonna give up on cloth diapers 😓

ETA:

… without wasting a lot of diapers

We’ve been doing EC since birth, cloth diapering for a good chunk, but I can’t figure out some odor and some are leaking (preloved) and I don’t want to figure it out (just no time and energy now). Plus, now the poops are getting chunky (we’ve started solids). We used disposables for a while recently bc of travel and trying to finish the stash… and it’s just so much easier!!

Plus, he didn’t care if the cloth diapers were soaked. We’ve been missing a bunch of pees and poos recently, I’m guessing bc of our trip (didn’t do EC on the trip), but I’m sure we’ll get back into our routine again.

First meals

I love food, but am NOT a fan of cooking. It stresses me out!

So this new adventure with my baby is making me have some anxiety lol

We are planning on starting baby’s first foods at his half-birthday.

Is this meal safe to start with: strip of steak (with black pepper), roasted half bell pepper (skinless, can it have olive oil?), ripe avocado (prob smashed into a spoon, or a strip with hemp seeds?)

Is that too many ingredients?

Also, can we introduce eggs and bananas the next morning (day 2 morning)? And then 2-3 more foods later that day (day 2 evening)?

Is it okay to introduce an allergen that early?

There is a lot of info out there! And I’m having a hard time figuring out which info is the most current and up-to-date. Seems like it changes quickly!

(We have no family history of food allergies or eczema. Just some family members with mild cat allergies, and we have cats in the home)
