For my work experience if one of my experiences is much more relevant to the role I’m applying but I did it before the other experiences should I still put it at the top or do my experiences have to be in date order from latest at the top to oldest at the bottom

Anyone else feel like they’ve always been behind but it’s always worked out at every step

I’ve always been a big big pessimist when it comes to exams like so big. At gcse I thought I failed my English exams and flopped my maths and sciences and genuinely thought I was going to be forced to go down the trader route, I was telling my mum over the summer after GCSEs how plumbers earn alot of money slowly making her accept the idea of me doing plumbing (not dissing plumbers they acc do decent amount of money), I ended up doing well in my GCSEs. Then alevels I thought I flopped them like really really flopped them and thought I had to retake them or do an alternate route to get to where I want to be. I ended up doing well in them and got into and now doing a maths degree at a top 15 uni. I was the same about my exams that I just did and I thought I would’ve had to retake first year but I ended up getting a high 2:1. All of that stressing throughout the years of me failing all my exams and everything worked out ig at every step. I also found it really interesting about how some people are on the other side of the spectrum and are really optimistic ( or cocky ) about how they did in there exams and end up flopping. Now stressing about internships and other things lol it’s never ending and when I say stress I rlly do mean stress like rlly bad stress, I needa sort it out.

Math masters at a top uni

Hey I’m doing mathematics at a top 15 uni and I just finished my first year with a 2:1 (65%). I’m wondering for the top unis such as Cambridge, Oxford, imperial, UCL and Warrick for math masters or math related masters like financial mathematics or statistics etc. What are the general requirements and would it even be possible for me to get into the part III at Cambridge with a 2:1 in first year. Also what type of things should I be doing to prep for my master applications in third year. Thank you

Is this too much of a lie

I did a insight programme at a big tech consultancy company. If I said on my cv when applying for summer internships that it was a spring insight programme is that too much of a stretch and will I get caught out.

Do nepos even do the interview?

I’m just curious, do they? Or do they do the interview whilst the interviewer knows there going to give them an offer regardless to make them feel special.

I’m 18 should I put money into a lifetime ISA for a house

As the caption says should I put money into a lifetime ISA for a house. I think I can afford to put 4k a year into the ISA which means I get 1k back towards my first house deposit. I won’t really have more money to invest into other things so my liquid will be relatively low. Is there any downsides to just putting practically all my money every year for the next few years into the lifetime ISA for a future house deposit.

This is all theoretical and I am not requesting financial advice Reddit

First year grades grad roles

How much do grad roles look at and put emphasis on the grade you got in first year. If I got a first in second year but a 2:2 in first year for example would the first in second year overweight the first year grade massively to the point the 2:2 in first year is negligible in the eyes of the employers.

What would I do if I wanted to be an actuary?

Hey I’m a mathematics student at a top 15 for some background. Just finished first year. I’m really unsure with what I want to do regrading my career in the future and I’m just trying to learn about different careers as much as I can.

To my understanding to be an actuary you have to complete a series of exams which are very statistical based and very hard across multiple years ( takes 4-6 years to complete on average? ). You get employed by a company and work whilst doing the exams after uni. When you complete the exams your then a qualified actuary.( please correct me if I’m wrong ).

Regarding working whilst doing the exams, do you have to be in a specific role. For example in law when you have a training contract you are a training solicitor and after roughly 2 years you are now a qualified solicitor. Do I have to have a specific role/ title whilst doing the exams such as training actuary or something.

FYI sorry if I said anything incorrect I just wanted to say my understanding of it so you know if I have any misunderstandings. Also I understand that becoming an actuary is very hard so if anywhere in my post It looks like I’m saying just do x, y and z then easy peasy your an actuary I’m sorry.

Can I just have one bank account being a student account

I switched my under 19s Lloyds bank account to a student Lloyds bank account ( both debit ). So now I only have one bank account being my student bank account, is that fine. A new debit card will be sent to me. I’m going to use this account for my daily things and just everything you can think of. Also does opening and closing account affect my credit score if it’s all debit cards and not credit cards.

If I said anything stupid sorry

Help

Hey I’m at a top 15 university (UK) doing maths and I have just finished my first year. I’ve done an internship at a small accountancy firm and an insight programme at a big tech consultancy company. I have two part time jobs which I’ve worked at for 2 years and 1 year. Have not been involved in any society that would benefit my job prospects unfortunately, I hope to do that in second year.

Is there anything you can think of that I could do over the next few months before I start applying for internships that would benefit my cv. Feel free to ask more questions.

Been thinking of doing a project in python but I’m not sure what coding project would help with finance internships. FYI sorry if anything is grammatically incorrect I’m currently fighting trying not to sleep after doing a 10 hour shift on 3 hours sleep.

Am I balding

I’ve got curly hair for reference. I think I’m balding but I’m not sure. My hair line I think is fine but it looks like I have bald patches on the top of my head. I have had the most stressful last year of my life. Also ignore my messy bed.

Uni loan

Am I dumb to say that uni loans aren’t a big deal in the uk. Like if you earn let’s say 33k a year after uni you’ll be paying 60 quid a month on plan 5 ( if you graduated after 2023), which is like two gym memberships maybe one if you go to a fancy one so not a big deal at all. And then if you earn let’s say 60 k then your living kinda comfortable I would say defo not like rich or anything but your good and your paying like 250 a month which when you have a 60k salary is not a huge deal ( it would be like earning 57 k a year without the repayments ) especially when you most likely got this salary due to the degree, obv not always the case tho. And then the more you earn yes you pay more but also if your earning a significant more then like it’s not a huge deal paying the repayments. So it’s like either you don’t earn a lot and don’t care because you don’t pay a lot back or you earn a lot and don’t care because you earn a lot.

Maybe I’m just coping someone let me know 😭

2 jobs problem?

Hey I’ve got two part time jobs, I’m coming back from university for over the summer and about 9 days ago I texted my manager at Job A saying that I’m available to work over the summer so please schedule me in for work. He left me on delivered till now and I’ve been booked in for one shift in about a week and half Honestly Idec that much because I’ve got another job, job B, however job B is a zero hour contract so I have to book my self in work over an app. Now I’m thinking if I book in work for job B, let’s say in a week, will job A suddenly book my in shifts for in a week aswell. Like how far before would a job book in work for you given that Job A is a big company.

I’m not sure if I communicated that effectively but ultimately my problem is two jobs and I’m not sure on how far forward I can book one shift at one job to ensure the other job doesn’t book me in for work.

Sorry again if I didn’t communicate well, if you want any more questions please ask and would really appreciate some help as I don’t want to have two shifts booked on the same day and I can’t tell one job that I can’t work certain days to work at another job because the other job might not offer work that day. Rn both jobs are so like unpredictable with when I can/ will work at them.
