The small settlements near bodies of water like Riverwood, Ivarsted, Morthal, etc, remind me of provinces in the Philippines

Coming from a Filipino, they somehow tap into a kind of rural energy that mirrors the Philippine countryside (probinsya). Many Philippine provinces are built directly along rivers or coastal areas, where water is the literal lifeblood of the community for fishing, washing, and transport. Walking through them feels less like a maze and more of where you can see neighbors chatting on their porches. There's a distinct feeling of isolation from the big cities where villagers are farming, chopping wood, running a local store (tindahan), then hang out at a local tavern-like area after a hard day's work. The climate and trees might be completely different, but the core feeling of a peaceful, water-adjacent community where life moves a bit slower than in the big cities feels so similar. All they need is a bard singing different tales.

Funny side of this comparison is that like Skyrim, you also have travelers passing by wearing high tier clothing. In the Philippines, it can be someone from Manila or overseas that steps off a tricycle or other commuting service wearing big headphones, oversized hoodie, pristine looking shoes, international branded clothing, and a backpack filled with a lot of valuables.

While the 90's is more recognized as the peak of superstar centers, the 70's deserves some flowers

People will say that the 70's were weak in terms of competition and thats why Kareem won those 5 MVPs due to lack of competition. While some of it is true, he still played against really solid bigs like Nate Thurmond, Dave Cowens, Bob McAdoo, Wilt Chamberlain, Willis Reed, Bill Walton, Artis Gilmore, Wes Unseld, Bob Lanier, Dan Issel. He won those MVPs because he consistently outplayed a room full of future Hall of Fame giants. Dude was simply a 7-foot-2 alien with an elite track-athlete motor and a shot that literally couldn't be blocked.

Wolverine's bones being coated in Adamantium technically means that any act he does that would normally be a nuisance to normal people is gonna be extremely unpleasant

Stuff like slapping someone's face, flicking a finger, pinching, accidentally bumping shoulders, or sitting on them go from being minor annoyances to a certified hospital visit or being buried. Dude's a walking anvil and that 300 pound weight feels much heavier and condensed on him as a short guy than if he were 6'5 or taller where the weight will be distributed over much larger bones and wider contact points.

Punching an already knocked out opponent in Fight Night Round 2 turned it into a vengeful beatdown

The slow-motion replay combined with the crowd/announcer silence and nothing but the sounds of punches added to the brutality.

Return of Captain Invincible is an underrated cult classic superhero film

Released in 1983, it's a superhero musical, yes, you heard that right, but it's also a mix of political and social satire that mocks American bureaucracy, military paranoia, and historical revisionism. The soundtrack being penned by Richard O’Brien and Richard Hartley, the creative minds behind The Rocky Horror Picture Show, you can hear and feel their influence.

I must commend Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee for such memorable performances and commitment to the absurd material. For actors with their legendary pedigrees, you'd assume they phone it in, but they treat the material given with respect.

Alan Arkin excelled as the disillusioned Captain Invincible. A patriotic icon akin to Captain America, he was once beloved, only to be persecuted by the House Un-American Activities Committee for "flying without a license" and being suspected of having communist leanings all because he wears a red cape during the 1950's McCarthy era. Retreating to Australia and spending decades as a homeless alcoholic that forgot how to fly, it's not until with the help of detective Patty Patria and the return of his arch-nemesis Mr. Midnight that he must find the will to once again become a hero and pull out of the gutter.

Of course, Christopher Lee plays the super villain with a cool name Mr. Midnight and he was awesome. No matter how low-budget or bizarre, you can count on him giving 100% of his effort and the quality shows. He channels his inner Dracula and Scaramanga to give Mr. Midnight a sense of danger that treats his absurd, cartoonish evil schemes with chilling, theatrical flair. Once he starts singing, it's a thing of beauty which is no surprise given he was a trained opera singer with that magnificent, rumbling bass-baritone voice. Hearing him sing a more upbeat and fast-paced song like Name Your Poison just adds to his aura.

I'm so glad to have discovered this cult classic movie. How I discovered it was actually quite silly. I was curious if Christopher Lee sang other types of songs that were not usually his style. One search on the internet, lo and behold, Return of Captain Invincible popped up.

The physics-based KO system of Fight Night Round 2 makes it such a blast to play and my personal favorite boxing game

By tying the referee’s countdown to the moment an opponent's body touches the canvas rather than when their health hits zero, the game creates an intentional delay where the player can continue to pummel an unconscious rival. This transforms matches from a regular competition into a cinematic, murderous beatdown.

It's ironic how the most recognizable image of Andre the Giant wasn't his prime self when he had thicker hair, was way more mobile, wrestled in tights, but when he wore a black singlet and health wise, was on the decline

Its a testament to the sheer amount of aura he had despite the constant pain and operating at a fraction of his physical prime. Dude felt like a legit final boss of a videogame, his theme song Ava Satanus, which was introduced in WWE 2K14 definitely added to his mythology. He is part of the Brute Squad.

The fact Ken Foree played Kenan’s dad in Kenan and Kel is a connection not lost on me. In hindsight, it makes sense why Kenan's dad is always so pissed off and fed up at even the most minor infractions. Dude survived a zombie apocalypse and most likely has PTSD. All he wants to do is just relax but Kel and sometimes his own son cause a lot of trouble. He is one blood vessel popping away from achieving an animated super form. You can see it in his eyes, the "I’ve seen things you wouldn’t believe" kind of stare. He survived the zombie outbreak and changed his identity to try and move on, only to face an even worse kind of brain dead.
