Citizen’s Mat Karekes produced the new Haywire LP
If you’re wondering why it sounds a little more glossy.
If you’re wondering why it sounds a little more glossy.
I've been talking a match this past week, and I can't help but feel that the more we talk, the more I'm glad that have prior to meeting because in comparison to my own situation (never married, no children, and like most people out there, I've run into some assholes out there in the dating world, but also have managed to dodged them before getting involved further with them.)
- Divorced, has a "narcissistic" ex that she doesn't have any contact with because their child refuses to talk to the father (child is non-binary)
- Very well career established, but has had a series of bad relationships since her divorce including:
There's just A LOT going on here that I don't feel like is just your usual baggage of say, got a divorce/broke up from an LTR that didn't go well but no hard feelings as time passed, went through a healing period, and is now back to dating healthily. Some people are just drawn toward bad decisions, and it might be in your best decision to avoid them rather than getting caught up in it?
Here's the full coverage on the Stone Island campaign as well as a new ad/video for it.
I know there's already been plenty of thoughts on this but I will say this: for all the people negging these hardcore bands to modeling and partaking in a luxury fashion brand campaign, just remember that there's going to be plenty of people at next weekend's Sound & Fury waiting in line for exclusive Braindead merch longer than they're watching any sets. Hardcore basically is a fashion brand at this point lol
Honestly, so many of these posts here lately are ragebaiting and not even real profile reviews. The pictures on a lot of them look like they're taken from some wannabe influencers' Instagram. The prompts are never filled out and there's low effort in the bio.
Here's a great example where the profile literally has a "You'll probably run into me at your place" prompt answer that sound like the words of a stalker/serial killer but will undoubtedly rage bait people.
Also, it's interesting to see how the politics answer is defined as "Right" rather than conservative because that isn't an option as far as I know unless Bumble has different options outside the U.S., so a lot of these alleged profile reviews might be AI made on top of it.
Mods really need to do something about it because this sub is turning into rage bait slop.
Man, I know this is a sensitive subject and all, but as someone who has been working out for well over a decade now, it's really been something seeing the culture shift on what constitutes as a healthy body image nowadays. We used to have women out there looking to get thick booties and if you were a big thick dude, it was impressive.
I just saw an acquaintance post a picture of herself at the gym showing her latest progress, and her rib cab is now visible, her arms have barely any muscle on them and are getting boney, and she thinks she looks great. She's apparently been doing some extreme dieting, ironically with the help of a coach. A few months ago, she had strong legs, a solid and trim, flat core and nice triceps. There's tons of guys on steroids at the place trying to be both huge but also wanting to have chiseled 6 packs.
It's just awful to see the way social media, fitness influences and Ozempic culture have all slid healthy body images backwards where the goal to get both skinny and fit isn't at all being done the right way.
No shade to the Linda Lindas, but any time there's an alt band playing the Bowl, they're always opening lol
I feel like a broken record, but I guess I had bigger expectations for this show for being an old school emo lover's dream with some really impressive names but I'd say this show's lineup is one of the less interesting ones of the whole Bleed American tour that caters more toward mainstream audiences. Gotta fill the seats, I guess!
I'll be honest: As much as I love hardcore, I sometimes feel like I'm more of an outsider looking in. I listen to a lot of different music for one thing, so hardcore isn't the one and only singular musical identity I follow. Lots of, for a lack of better words, indie music of all styles.
I tend to see more hardcore shows than any other genre though, and a lot of times, I feel some imposter syndrome. I don't really have a social or dating life that revolves around "the scene" even though it would probably be cool to meet someone who had similar music tastes as myself. I'm usually at shows by myself. It looks like everyone has their groups of friends that all share the same community. All the bands I listen to are always preaching about community.
But I'm just some guy who grew up in a lower middle class household in the 'burbs. Was my family life perfect growing up? No, there was some shit along the way but I probably have an objectively more healthier upbringing with parents who are still together, no dead parent stories from an early age, no substance abuse issues to contend with. Beyond your typical outsider emo blues kids go through in high school and realize as an adult that is just the world depressing you, I have had a pretty okay life despite feelings of feeling socially isolated and dealing with some uphill battles in job loss and stress.
All that said, I love the hardcore scene but never have really felt like the hardcore scene would count me as one of them. Can anyone relate?
Go on any dating subreddit here, and the number of times Feeld is mentioned as an app that people use for dating as well as for casual fun when they need a "break" from regular dating apps is just as common as seeing the names Hinge, Bumble and Tinder pop up. It's now a mainstream app that your regular normie person uses because they just want something casual or because they're so burnt out with the main dating apps that they figure it's worth a shot trying.
I remember when I originally joined Feeld a few years ago, it was still one of those apps that when you created a profile, you hid your face. Most people typically did because it was a mix of discretion and also a little bit of being afraid that someone you know might see you on there. Now? Most are just out there in the open with no problem. If someone at work sees you, you see them, too.
This is all to say that if you're wondering why the app feels both more crowded with the b.s. you would encounter on a typical dating app and less viable of an option as to meeting people, it's because your normie marketing co-worker is on there thinking they've solved the puzzle to their dating woes but just making the app as miserable as the rest of the vanilla ones.

Joyce Manor just posted a cryptic post teasing a date at the Kia Forum. It's kind of difficult to imagine them doing a headlining show there themselves. Is this part of something bigger?
It's now confirmed that Jimmy Eat World will be joining The Matt Pinfield Show this Wednesday to make their Hollywood Bowl announcement. Considering the teasing on social media and the fact that they're going to make the announcement on a live radio program, I don't think this is just a matter of Jimmy Eat World saying, "Yeah, we're playing the Hollywood Bowl and we're bringing along the Format and (insert another band.)" This has to be a significant show deserving of all the hype involved.
I've been weightlifting for 20 years, so I'm in my early 40s now. I do squats on leg day (hit legs 2x a week,) but lately I've been wondering if it's time to swap them out for leg press due to the wear on your back and knees. Thinking about the long game here. I've tried reading about the pros and cons of both. I see Jeff Nippard recommends leg press as one of this main must-do leg exercises with no mention of squats.
Just wondering what the tradeoff might be overall? I have a solid core since I do core exercises at home nightly after the gym, but I'm not sure how much squatting has also contributed to that (I also have a thick ass core that I wouldn't mind trimming down if that's going to happen by moving away from squats as much.)
Main goal is obviously quad gains. Otherwise, I do deadlifts, leg curls and leg extensions.
I'm in my early 40s, jumped back on the apps this week (meeting single people in real life is basically impossible which is the conclusion I always come to upon dating a break from dating apps) and pretty much all of my likes are coming from women who have children. For context, I moved to a different part of the 'burbs of New England. Not tiny or small, more metropolitan with a robust professional scene, but also not a huge city area and still has a "townie" vibe.
I matched with a few people and one didn't have any information about having children in her profile, but after chatting and broaching the subject of potentially meeting, she casually mentions her younger son and how she has him next weekend and certain days during the week. I asked what her availability is typically like and got the run down regarding how she and her ex swap weekends and certain days of the weekend, and as I'm reading all of this, I could just feel myself groaning at the thought of having to navigate it.
I get that everyone "has a past" by this stage, but on my end, I've never been married and don't have any children from a previous relationship. I haven't really had any serious relationships as an adult (focused on career, moved around for said-career, lived in some pretty uneventful social/dating scenes as well) so my "past" is minimal and it's hard for me to accept a relationship where my time with my partner would revolve around their ex's for basically until the kid goes to college. I'm not looking for someone who I need to spend all my free time with (I have hobbies and interests, and am a highly active guy who prioritizes his physical/mental health) but want to be with someone who I can freely spend time with, go to live concerts with, take daytrips or travel with, and just not have to work around any of the logistics of their childcare available.
But it seems impossible to find anyone around my age out there on the apps especially who doesn't have children from a previous relationship, so filtering out people with children greatly dwindles my options. I guess I could date someone older with grown children, but in my experience with dating older women, it never amounts to much beyond a fling where we eventually realize we're in very different places in life. The profiles I do see of child-free women tend to live out in the nearest large cities an hour away, and I have no desire to uproot to the higher cost of living that way for the sake of dating goals either. It seems like I'm doomed to be single for the rest of my life at this point.
