You can pause during the cut scenes?!

I may be an old fart who hasn’t played a ton of video games in my lifetime, but I don’t recall ever being able to just press pause during a cut scene and have the cut scene just pause before. Is this normal in new video games? I remember I could always skip but never actually PAUSE in the middle of a cut scene. Is this new or am I crazy?

Anyone else having 'Failed to Import' issues?

So we've been having issues with cards failing to import when being plugged into the iMac via a dongle, and being imported directly into the Library, which is stored on an external hard drive via a Thunderbolt cable. It's not all the time, but occasionally. It's happened with SanDisk and Transcend cards, both of SDHC and SDXC varieties. It's happened while recording AVCHD 1080p footage on Sony NXCAMs and it's happened with shooting 4k 30p footage on Sony A7iii's as .mp4 files. Sometimes one clip just won't import, sometimes all the clips won't import. Sometimes it works on FCP 12.2, sometimes it doesn't. It's also on and off with FCP 11.2 and 12.0 (we have a few computers here).

So I feel like I'm going crazy and it has to be a Final Cut Pro issues, and not the cards or the cameras. But I've never noticed this issue back in 10.0 versions of FCP. Seems to only been happening since 11.0 and higher.

But I also haven't seen anyone ever mention anything about this in here. Am I the only one? Sometimes restarting FCP helps, sometimes I need to restart the whole computer, sometimes I just can't get it in unless I transfer the files off the card onto the desktop and then import it into the library again after that. it's all over the place.

is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

Do I need a new electric water heater? Or is this typical?

So I have no idea how old the water heater is because I don’t see a date or anything labeled anywhere on it. Last year the plumber inspector said it looked to be about 8 years old, though again I’m not sure where he’s getting that number. It’s been here since we moved in in 2020, so it isn’t a stretch at all to assume that, but again, not sure how to tell for sure.

There seems to be a small amount of water below the tank by one of the bricks it’s sitting on. And when I open this bottom hatch, the padding stuff is all wet. I’m pretty sure this isn’t good but wanted to see what everyone thinks before I call someone to get it replaced.

I’m also having to replace my windows this year (40 years old windows in the house), so I really was hoping a new water heater wasn’t on my list for this year too, but if it is it is. Just hoping it isn’t >D

I never played OoT. Should I play the NSO N64 version first? Or wait till the remake comes out later this year?

coming from someone who's never played OoT, should I try and play it on the NSO N64 first so I have an idea where it's coming from? Or do you think it would be best to first experience it with the remake?

Super small bug

Location: Highland Heights Kentucky
June
I’m sitting in my office and this thing fell onto my desk. I’m assuming from up in the ceiling tiles or the light fixtures on the ceiling.

What is this? It’s moving real slow. Hasn’t flown but looks like it has wings and is trying to fly but can’t get up.

MFD keeps resetting itself randomly. Then works fine for hours. (Toyota Prius 2009 156,000 miles)

I have tried removing the MFD and when I do, my radio and cd player and aux NEVER have an issue. But when it’s connected I get this randomly every day now. I’ve sent the MFD out to get fixed and they said they repaired it because something was shorted out on it. I got it back and put it in but had the same issues. I sent it back again to them and they said it looks like it got shorted out again, and it must be the car that is ruining it. They’re in California and I’m in Kentucky so I can’t bring my car in for them to look at. I don’t know what to check or what to do now at this point because I’m not a mechanic and idk who to trust or go to.

Difference between Kiloview E3 and Bird Dog 4k HDMI and Teradek Prism?

Kiloview E3 ($500)

https://www.kiloview.com/en/products/encoders/e3/

Bird Dog 4k HDMI ($999)

https://birddog.tv/4k-overview/

Teradek Prism ($3,999)

https://teradek.com/collections/prism/products/prism-flex-mk-ii-encoder?variant=45639670071474

What am I missing here? We're looking for two things right now at work. We use to have a Teradek VidiU Pro and now they discontinued and only have the Teradek Prism. We would use it for streaming RTMP straight from a single camera's HDMI feed for live streaming government meetings. The Prism is $3,999.

We are also looking at getting more/updating our current Bird Dog NDI converters that we use for converting HDMI signals from cameras into NDI to be received on our Tricaster units. The new Bird Dog's are $999.

However, I just found the Kiloview E3, and it's only $500 and does both of these things in one? I can stream to RTMP, I can convert to NDI, it's PoE, takes both HDMI and SDI, and has passthroughs. AND a cold shoe mount so I can put it on top of my cameras, and a tally light that lights up on it.

Is this all too good to be true? Am I missing something? Does everyone know that the Kiloview E3 is junk and I just don't know it yet or something? I honestly feel like I'm missing something.

Is this sound normal when turning car on? (2009 gen 2 Prius)

It’s a 2009 Prius, gen 2. 155,000 miles. When I press the power button I hear clicking sounds that sound like they’re going from the back of the car. Idk why I’ve never noticed this before, maybe it’s always done that, but I just wanted to double check to make sure it’s not a sign of something to come.

(Update) fixed my broken GB case to work again on my GBA by 3D printing a new shell!

Just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my last post here. I’m the idiot that ripped the plastic corners of my Gameboy Pokémon Blue case in hopes it would make it fit in my DS. Then just recently found out it makes it not work on my GBA. My son wanted to play it and I wanted him to have the nice backlight of the GBA instead of my old GBC, so I asked for help here and everyone mentioned to get a new case. So I used my kids 3D printer to print a new back for the shell and to print a 3.8mm gamebit screw to remove the screw from the Gameboy shell itself.

The new back isn’t 100% perfect, I kind of have to wedge it in a hair to slide in, but it’s only off by like a hair, so I’d say 99.999% perfect.

Thanks everyone here for the big help! My kids going to be so happy!

Why won’t my Pokémon Gameboy game play on my GBA? Is it because the plastic is cut on the sides?

When I was a kid and got my first Nintendo DS, I realized I couldn’t fit my original gameboy games into the GBA slot on the DS. So I did a dumb thing and I cut the corners of the cartridge so it would actually slide in and fit. After I did that and tried it out, I learned that it doesn’t have to do with whether or not it fits, but with the way it reads the games. I was a kid. I was dumb.

Anyway, fast forward to today, and I have a Gameboy Pocket, and a Gameboy Color that my original Gameboy Pokémon game works just fine on. But if I plug it into my GBA, it doesn’t work. However, every other original Gameboy or Gameboy Color game works just fine on the GBA. Everything except my butchered Pokémon Blue from the original Gameboy.

Is it not working. Cause of the cuts I made to the cartridge? You thinking if I switched the game into another cartridge that wasn’t cut up, it would work on the GBA again?

So I have missing media. I highlight it, I go to File - Relink Files - Original Media. And I get this window. I always get this window whenever I have missing media. it doesn't work. What am I suppose to do? There's no options. I click 'missing' and 'all', and neither show anything. what on earth are you supposed to do to relink media? It's clearly missing.

Got my house about 6 years ago. Built in 1987. We don’t have a way to get into the attic except for a very small cut out in our closet space. I used a step ladder and put my camera on a stick to see up in there. I posted the video link here in the post. You can see the insulation piled up, the support beams look like they stretch across most the space (not sure if these could be adjusted to not go at such a wide angle, and more straight down to make space in the center of the room to move about in), and I can even see an old ceiling fan on the ground that looks like it matches up to the hallway on our second floor. Guessing they had a ceiling fan for circulation that’s currently been sealed off.

Basically, do you think it’s worth it to try and get up there, get lights installed so I can see, and lay boards down so we can walk around up there, and possible remove the old ceiling fan and use that space to make a pull down ladder in our hallway so we can get up there easier than the tiny hole in our closet?

I’d want to use the space for storage. I’m sure it’s not feasible to make it a living space for fun, but I’m not a builder or know anything about house work so I just wanna know what I can get away with here.
