Low stakes local conspiracy theories

Does anyone else have any conspiracy theories about places/companies in pgh that ultimately don’t matter much?

Mine is that GetGo is putting extra additives in their gas to make it cheaper for them because of the Strait of Hormuz closure situation. I get my gas there and every ~3rd tank my car pops up warnings associated with using the wrong gas even though I put the same (correct) gas in every time.

Worked a lunch without a single table

First week at a new restaurant and the red flags are already insane.

-upper management behind the bar taking tips and getting tipped out by servers
-on my first “training” shift it took two hours for the server i was paired with to get a single table
-on my second shift the host triple sat the server with a in the main dining room, the patio, AND upstairs and she had to go to him at the host stand to find this out
-my ENTIRE schedule was changed without talking to me after it had already been posted. not a single shift the rest of this week is the same as it was when it got posted yesterday.

aaaaaand the icing on the cake:

i worked an open/lunch today as the only server on without a single guest. no one at the bar, no tables, no one at all. for over 3 hours before the owner told me i could just go home. i wasted 3 hours of my day for 0 dollars.

i was let go from my last job after i broke my ankle and was out for 6 weeks and was doordashing between being cleared medically and finding a new job. it’s been a week and i’m already tempted to go back

How bad really is Longhorn/Darden?

I’ve been off work for about a month due to an injury and now that I’m coming close to being able to work again, I’m really looking to move somewhere else. I’m at a nonchain local restaurant rn, which is nice, but I get genuinely screamed at and berated by the chef for things out of my control at least once a shift (I’m an SA at my current job so I unfortunately have to interact with him quite a bit) and I’m tired of it. I’ve served at a local corporate chain and some of it sucked but overall I still liked my job and didn’t think it was that bad. I have an interview to serve at Longhorn on Thursday. Is Darden really as terrible as everyone says? Am I better off just staying where I am?

Can I go straight back to my usual dose?

I was on 80mg of Prozac for about a year and was having a lot of relief from my anxiety, yay! Unfortunately for about 6 months my financial situation was really bad and I wasn’t able to afford my medication. It has improved somewhat, thankfully, and I still have refills left on my script, is there any reason I couldn’t get it filled and go straight back to my 80mg dose?

ULPT Request: Make money without having to leave the house

I have a broken ankle and I’m stuck at home for a month. My job can’t accommodate me (restaurant work) and I can’t drive right now to do DoorDash/Uber/etc. What are some morally gray options for making any substantial amount of money (not survey apps that pay 10 cents for an hour of your time) for the next month?

My job requires me to be on my feet. I just broke my ankle

I’m a server. My whole job is being on my feet and running around. Aaaaaand I broke my ankle at a concert on Wednesday.

I just started a new job two weeks ago so I don’t qualify for STD. I haven’t seen ortho yet (calling Monday, was just told it is confirmed broken and I cannot walk on it from Urgent Care today.) I already had to take off the whole weekend because of this, I can’t afford to miss 6+ weeks and I’m terrified. It’s my right ankle so can’t drive to Uber until I can get back to work to get by. Vent flair matched closest but please if anyone has any advice I will take it.

Brothers I have failed you…

I posted here the other day about how my weak ligaments failed me but my bones persevered. Upon reading of my X-Ray by a radiologist, it turns out my ligaments are so weak and pathetic that they felt the need to drag my bones down with them, and pulled a chip of my talus off. I am deeply sorry for the misrepresentation, as it turns out I am a BBB.

Thought I failed for a moment, but my strong bones persevered where my feeble ligaments could not 💪

Don’t do tequila shots in the mosh pit, kids. Especially if you already sprained this ankle 3 years ago and didn’t let it heal properly

Recommend me an Argentinian Wine?

Going to a birthday party for someone from Argentina this week. Looking for a mid-range wine to bring as a gift. My knowledge of wine is pretty lacking (I lurk this sub bc I desperately want to become a wine person lol) and I’ve done some googling but I would love to hear from y’all what you would recommend. I don’t know her that well so I don’t wanna spend big bucks, but anything under ~$75 would be great!

Server to Assistant Transition

Have been working my first serving job at a shitty local chain for ~6mos and the money:bullshit ratio finally hit a breaking point and I started applying for other jobs. Got hired as an SA at a more upscale (but not necessarily fine dining) restaurant with potential to move up to serving after a couple months there. I know a lot of you have probably made similar transitions, anyone got any advice? SAs at my job are basically nothing but a glorified food runner, but I know at better restaurants they tend to be more of a busser/refills/food runner.

Plz tell me everything you wish you knew when you made a similar move, I get nervous in new roles and want to be prepared with all the knowledge.

I want to preface this with I don’t think there’s any reason my mailman SHOULD hate me. I get my mail each day that it’s delivered, the area around my mailbox is clean and there’s nothing around it, I make sure to salt/shovel a path for him in the winter, etc. I have a loud/barky dog but she’s never outside without me and our mailbox is outside of the fence.

DAE have a mailman that seemingly hates them? Was expecting a package today and was outside in my yard when he showed up. Watched him deliver the mail to my upstairs neighbor (mailbox ~3ft from mine) and turn around and walk off. USPS tracking says that he couldn’t deliver it because he couldn’t access my mailbox? This isn’t the first time this has happened. I feel like 1/3 packages I get shipped through USPS either gets delivered to the wrong address or is delayed because they claim they couldn’t access my mailbox.

Why does my mailman hate me? Is it a personal beef or do the mailpeople here just hate their jobs and not care?
