How do I actually make this growth consistent?
I've never really been a social media person. At all.
About 45 days ago I basically decided I needed to stop ignoring it and actually learn how to promote my apps, so I started posting consistently and figuring things out as I went.
Since then I’ve had around 6.5 million total views across everything, which sounds like a lot, but when I look at it next to the actual number of people who downloaded my app, it’s honestly not that impressive. I’ve had around 30k downloads in total.
For the last couple of weeks I’ve been doing roughly 500–1,600 downloads a day and around 150–300 purchases/subscriptions a day, depending on the day. I’ve had a few days where I picked up around 1,500 new subscribers, but I obviously can’t rely on those kinds of spikes.
The funny thing is I haven’t spent anything on ads. I’ve just been doing everything myself.
And I’m still trying to understand why some platforms work and others just... don't.
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok have been pretty disappointing for me. Most of my actual downloads and sales have come from Threads, and I’ve started getting some word of mouth from X too (I literally only started posting there yesterday). I’ve also just started using Reddit, hence this post.
What I’m trying to figure out now is how to get to a point where 1,000+ downloads a day is normal rather than something I occasionally hit.
Ideally I’d like to do that without spending a bunch of money on ads. I know that probably sounds unrealistic, but getting to 30k downloads without spending anything sounded pretty unrealistic to me 45 days ago too.
So for anyone here who has actually grown an app organically, what would you do?
Would you just double down on the platform that's already working, or keep trying to figure out the ones that aren't?
And is there something I'm missing about why an app can get millions of views but relatively few downloads?
I'm still very new to all of this, so I'm genuinely interested in hearing what other people would do in my position.
