Update on making a Ps5 controller silent
I've posted a few backs about my quest to make my Ps5 controller as silent as possible, as my partner has misophonia and the noises it makes were triggering her...
Well, we achieve what we proudly consider the stealthiest controller ever...
Here's a breakdown of what we did, in case any of you are facing the same challenge (I would put more pictures but the sub only allows one) :
- Face buttons: we straight up took them out, as the plastic hitting the shell was the culprit, and replaced them with thin foam cylinders of equal sizes, resulting in a smooth and silent replacement
- Triggers : we put foam underneath them and between bith of them, same idea, to prevent plastic hitting plastic. Also deactivated the haptic function in the playstation settings menu
- Sticks : we taped the borders of the sticks with very thin foam tape, again to prevent plastic on plastic contact
- Misc : deactivate rumble functions and the controller speaker in the settings menu
And there you have it, a silent as possible controller to allow misophonia and gaming to coexist.
Hope this helps some of you, I dont have misophonia but I've learned a lot since livong with my partner, I truly wish you can find solutions to help with any specific triggers you might have, and the support you deserve.
