Weight, type, and workouts?

Kind of stumbled onto this sub and this style of lifting seems like a fun change of pace. I come from powerlifting over the past decade and a dabbled in weightlifting over the years: 590lb squat, 370lb bench, 635lb deadlift, 255lb C&J, 205lb snatch. Any suggestions on weight or range of weights I should start with, any specific bags I should or should not get, and any 4-5 day routines anyone recommends? I would definitely love to drop a little bit of weight, tone up, and increase my cardio if that's possible with sandbag training

Ubuntu touch on a modern pixel

Would ubuntu touch ever be realistic for any of the modern pixel lineups? I had planned on using graphene (don't agree with how Google is locking down android) once I paid off my phone, but with recent circumstances in the US surrounding a graphene user my wife has recommended against it so I am looking into other possible OS.

Career switch

Apologies if this isn't necessarily allowed. I have spent the last 8 years working in water quality monitoring and aquatic habitat/biological monitoring (although my education is more in ecology, restoration, and land management/Forest Resources). I love the work I do, my wife and I just feel more at home somewhere cooler, mountainous, and laid back. It seems NPS jobs directly similar to what I have done are few and far between. My question is, has anyone here gone from a field science monitoring role outside the NPS to a ranger position or something else within the NPS? If so what skills did you highlight to get the job? What was the hardest part transitioning? If it was a ranger position, what did your daily duties actually entail? Any similar experiences shared would be greatly appreciated!

Thinkpad L13 Yoga and Fedora

Does anyone have Fedora set up on any of their thinkpad yoga 2 in 1's and if so what seems to work better for complete tablet and pen functionality, KDE or GNOME?

Do modern Subarus seem like they will last?

I know it's a Subaru sub so y'all will be a little biased, but I gotta get the info from the people who drive the cars. Currently have a 2024 Tacoma long bed we got to camp in the bed and since my drive to work has been short it was fine daily-ing. Life changes and we may have to move about an hour out for my current job because my wife got a professor gig in another city, so I am looking into vehicles with good gas mileage and last long (was hoping the truck would last me the next 10-15 years). Currently looking into trading for a new forester (possibly the hybrid) or outback.

Wanted to know, do new Subarus make sense of a buy it and run it into the ground over the next decade plus? Should I look at older Subarus or maybe just a different brand?

Careers in Tech?

Hi all, I've been in the environmental field for about 8 years now working in a combination of field, project management, and data roles. I have a habit of tinkering with electronics, building and setting up PCs and servers, but mostly interested in hardware but not sure if I want to join my wife in cyber security/IT with a full career transition. Has anyone gotten into a tech or computer hardware role within the environmental field and is willing to tell how they switched? I feel like I'd be limited to something like a YSI job working on sondes (which would be extremely fine with me).

Anyone with experience using Statlab GTF Formalin Substitute?

As the title says, I'm wondering if anyone has experience using Statlab GTF Formalin Substitute in marine or stream macroinvertebrate sampling? We had been using NoTox for samples until it was discontinued and had to go back to using buffered formalin. Stumbled across the GTF formalin substitute on fisher scientific and figured I would see if anyone has experience with the product.

We Need New Commissioners

We have corrupt and out dated county commissioners. Outdated infrastructure that is NOT being updated in a timely manner. No pressure on Municipalities to update their infrastructure. We have little green spaces, trees are being ripped up left and right. We have seemingly no action plan for the next storm. Public transit is abysmal. Traffic is abysmal. I am starting to see way too many flock cameras. Housing is horrible no one can afford rent and no one besides investment firms can afford houses. It's time a new generation who wants to actually make a difference and better this county move in and take these seats away from the people who don't care and seemingly do nothing.

More specifically as a hydrologist/hydrologist tech? It seems like a decent job, and it gets me out of the state I've been trying to leave but I have a pretty nice gov job doing what I love, but this seems like nice pay and I'm told there's possibility of moving to full time from 1099

Potential job opportunity based in the town. Housing looks cheap, rentals seems sparse. For contrast with life style and cost of living we are coming from Tampa Bay (unfortunately both my wife and I are born and raised there). We have been trying to get out of Florida for years and have absolutely fallen in love with the mountains visiting and camping up around Clayton GA, Franklin NC and Cherokee NC.

Edit: extra personal info

Hi all, so like the title says I really need to help/guidance. I purchased a '24 Tacoma TRD sport 6ft in Nov 2024. My $560 a month payment was fine for a while but cost of living raises just didn't keep up with cost of living unfortunately. I was looking around and carvana gave me the best trade in I've seen yet, paying off my loan and leaving me with 9600 for trade in on a 2023 extra cab with a 6ft bed and 53k miles (mine has 12700). With their financing I can get down to $360 monthly for 60mo at 8.99% apr (my current loan is another 62mo), bank and credit unions are wanting 20%+ apr even with my generally good credit. Is this a possible way out of the bad decision I made 2 years ago or just another bad decision?

Sorry if this isn't allowed, the usual person I went to for guidance was my father and he has unfortunately had severe mental decline over the past year and I genuinely have no one to turn to.

So the last title I purchased was The Show 2017 for ps4 and have pretty much stuck to playing that for the last almost 10 years (God I'm old). I had a love/hate relationship with DD (I liked all aspects except for the people online I had to play, probably a skill issue honestly). After playing countless rtts careers and a few franchises, I got the itch to play online again like some sort of masochist, but have not been seeing any positives for the new release. Can anyone recommend a more recent title, preferably on ps4 but PC works too, that is enjoyable to play and has online servers still up (and hopefully an online community that doesn't suck to play against)?
