Queen of Softness

Queen of Softness

We took Toby to the park before her appointment and she got to nap in the grass one more time. One woman on the street called her the Queen of Softness last year and the name stuck. She was the softest girl. I miss her so much.

I miss her

Had to put down our 14 year old dog on Wednesday. She was the last pet from my childhood, we got her when I was in high school. We lost her sister last year and my 21 year old cat the year before. I miss them all so much. She was so sweet and soft. I know it was time. I just can't stop thinking about her. Everything is different without her.

This month has sucked a lot already. Losing her is my last straw. I can barely get out of bed.

Boyfriend thinks he's being stalked

It's been an issue on and off for a couple years but it's gotten worse. Thinks the people who live above us are threatening him and they're saying I'm involved.

He's on 20mg of abilify and it's not helping anymore. He's withdrawing and lying to me. I don't know what to do. I keep telling him to talk to his psychiatrist, he lies about contacting her. I told him to go to the ER and he said they only offered him Klonopin. I'm so fucking unhappy and scared. What is left to do?

We live together. He's not abusive. He is on methadone for opioid addiction and he smokes crystal meth. It seems to get worse when he's getting off of it, maybe from the withdrawal. He just lays in bed all day on the days he doesn't work.

I finished In Thrall (1982, reprinted 2024) last night and have Leash (2002) on order at my bookshop. Trigger warning for a sexual relationship between a 16 year old child and 37 year old woman. I believe it's based on DeLynn's life and is definitely romanticized rather than a warning, so proceed with caution.

It's hard to reconcile that with how much I enjoyed this book. The narrator, Lynn, is so obnoxious and unlikable, but much of what she says could have come from my own high school Tumblr #vent posts. She's desperate for anybody or anything to tell her she's okay, that she's normal (but still exceptional), and Maxfeld's push-and-pull is familiar and seductive. It's definitely more funny than grim. DeLynn is an incredible writer and I would highly recommend this book to anybody who is interested in lesbian literature.

Does anybody know if the app "AllGo" is still being worked on, or anything about Rebecca Alexander? I'm working on a paper for school about how fat people use technology and I was hoping to write about it, but the website hasn't updated since 2020 and the social media accounts are all gone...it seems to have totally disappeared.

edit: okay they actually did post on Instagram about two years ago and seem to have a Threads account, although I don't, so I can't access it...still, not much to go off of.
