How is sex different in polyamorous vs monogamous relationships ?

in monogamous relationships there is the emotional and spiritual element of deeply connecting with someone. almost like a soul merging sort of event. this translates in sex where it almost feels like a converging of souls. it is so highly spiritual and transcendent - and a large part of that is both people have the capacity for emotional depth and make the conscious choice to engage in deep love with each other and feel safe in order to do so. like there is this extreme tenderness, care, trust, spiritual bonding and vulnerability/surrender that could not be exist if others were involved.

from what i can understand and have observed - polyamorous/“enm” relationships lack emotional depth and have a large amount of highly avoidant and emotionally stunted individuals who value autonomy. it almost feels like hookup culture in a sense where people involved really divorce themselves from feelings and emotions which i would assume leads to an inability to access the spiritual and transcendent qualities that sex can have which is why they often view it as like a drug or recreational activity (ie “play parties”) rather than something sacred.

i don’t even mean like sacred in like a puritanical way but im talking like sex can be a spiritual merging of souls and i would have to imagine this is inaccessible to people in poly/enm relationships?

my question is for those who have been in both poly and mono relationships- how does this translate in the sexual experiences of each relationship type? what has your experience been? how does it feel and what are the differences in each?

IUD causes acne, but pill causes breakthrough bleeding :(

seeking help/advice. long story short, i had an IUD for a brief period of time and loved not having a period and felt i had much higher energy levels and a better mood, HOWEVER my acne and hair loss on it was brutal :( (even with 100mg of spironolactone at the same time it didn’t help) so i had it removed

i’m currently taking sprintec which completely clears my skin and stops my hair from falling out except i get near constant breakthrough bleeding and feel a bit more anxious on it. also i feel my workouts and energy levels aren’t as good on sprintec as they were with an IUD

has anyone had to navigate this themselves and does anyone have any advice on how to have the best of both methods ?

how to tell the difference between my own attachment issues vs partner genuinely doing something that makes me feel insecure in the relationship?

sometimes i really struggle with differentiating between my own attachment anxieties causing insecurity in my relationship versus my partner doing something that is contributing my anxieties. how can i tell the difference when it’s just me making shit up in my head versus them contributing to it ?

fighting for my life - dramatic reaction to pausing birth control

sorry just need to vent for a sec. i’ve always suspected ive had PMDD but lowkey this confirms it for me.

long story short: im on sprintec birth control and i love everything about it, it helps my moods and has been GREAT for my skin. the only problem is i have been having breakthrough bleeding mid pack every month. i have a history of polyps which my gyno suspects to have returned and are the cause but to help give an answer she advised me to pause birth control for 2 weeks to sync up with when the breakthrough bleeding happens to see if that helps - and if it doesn’t that points more definitively to polyps as the cause.

i stopped taking my pills just 3 days ago and holy fuck i feel HORRIBLE. i am honestly shocked i feel so bad so quickly. now granted, i came off of placebo week last week so that means i have an additional week without active hormones, but i thought it would take longer to feel so bad and i genuinely feel horrendous. my head has been POUNDING every single day with crazy pressure behind my eyes, horrible brain fog, lowkey some derealization at certain points and my acne is coming back with a vengeance. these are all symptoms i feel during placebo week unfortunately but this feels amplified. im genuinely shocked im having this strong of a reaction especially as my doctor told me the birth control hormones are “a drop in the bucket” compared to what our bodies make.

to my understanding PMDD is higher than average sensitivity to hormonal shifts - and i feel like this is a clear example of that right? someone pls correct me if i’m wrong tho

i emailed my gyno who told me to try to stick it out if i can… and i agree but im fighting for my life holy shit like i am barely functioning

anyway, anytime i try to vent about any kind of life-impacting symptoms on the birth control subreddit im told that it’s impossible and my posts get removed so i wanted to just vent here and ask if anyone has any similar stories to share or guidance or support to help get me through this? thanks everyone!

hi all i’ve been taking sprintec for 6 months and every month i have been bleeding during the active pills. i also get PMS symptoms like it’s as if im having a real period with fatigue migraine mood swings, everything.

for reference i never skip placebos i always take them and bleed normally then, but it feels like im having 2 periods in one month.

i have a history of polyps and i previously had and IUD inserted to help mitigate future polyps and didn’t have bleeding issues but i got it removed due to my acne coming back and appetite issues.

any help or advice?? is an iud the only way to stop this? sprintec is great for my skin so ive enjoyed it but its just this bleeding that’s annoying and i worry its polyps returning.
