Singer Needed!

Calling all singers! Sympathy for the Circus is a four-piece band playing covers of classic rock, new wave, and even a few jazz fusion songs, and looking to expand into original material in the near future. Currently our bass player handles the vocals, but we believe having a dedicated singer would help us expand our sound and cover more ground musically. We practice every Tuesday evening in Clifton Park, and play out on 1-2 nights a week (Wednesday or Thursday, sometimes both if we all have time). We're all a bunch of mid-late 20s aged guys if that makes any difference.

Our setlist is approximately 2 hours long. Here are some of the songs we cover so you have an idea of the style/range needed:

Synchronicity 2-The Police

Walk Away-James Gang

Love Ain't for Keeping-The Who

Don't Let Me Down-The Beatles

SWLABR-Cream

Situation-Jeff Beck Group

If interested, either leave a comment or message me directly.

No Sound out of Subwoofer

Hey folks

I recently acquired a Denon AVR 1912 receiver and a Yamaha 5.1 surround sound system, and after hooking everything up and booting up my turntable, I can't get any sound out of the subwoofer (Yamaha YST-SW012), but I can get sound out of both of the tower speakers. But a lot of the bass on these records is missing, like it's trying to go through the subwoofer, but it isn't for some reason. Is there anything immediately obvious that I'm missing here? I have the subwoofer powered on, using an RCA cable to connect the sub into the Denon's subwoofer out connection. Picture 1 of the back of the receiver shows the setup with the sub plugged in, but I have one with nothing plugged in to show what the whole back looks like. Any help is appreciated.

I Hate What Summer Has Become

Living in upstate New York, which should be the frozen north. Today is July 2nd and it's going to be almost 100 fucking degrees today. Yesterday was almost just as bad, and tomorrow will also be the same. It's going to cool off for like a day and then return to the 90s next week again. Growing up, I never remember the summer being like this. There might be a few days here or there that were real hot, usually at the end of August, but not sustained weeks of high 80s-90s. It feels like I basically spend summer staring at the weather forecasts from my air conditioned room waiting for it to be cool enough to actually do anything fun. I can't go for a walk, play frisbee, or do anything outside for longer than 10 minutes without feeling absolutely miserable. Between that and the wildfire smoke from Canada (which luckily hasn't been bad this year so far but was awful the last two or three summers and I'm sure it'll return) it feels like a lost season. And to make it worse, I have a heart condition that means I can actually get hurt from spending too long in the heat or poor air quality.

I just don't understand how most people can acknowledge that it gets hotter and hotter every year and not see there's a problem.

IBS was gone for almost a year and decided to come back

(IBS-D) I was doing so well man, I thought I had my body figured out and everything was great. My job is really busy and stressful in the winter/spring months and my body handled it like a champ. When it was all done I scheduled a week off to rest up, and literally that Monday as I was ready to go to bed after a nice relaxing day I had to run to the John. Well I thought it was a one off, but today here I am again. I made it two bites into lunch before having to run to the bathroom. I've never had flares strike at me randomly like this, usually in the past it's been within an hour or two of eating but these last two have been completely out of thin air in random times. Someone please give me hope that this won't last this way, I was looking forward to having a nice summer and I hate that my body is trying to rob me of this. My GI doc's first open appointment is for the end of July 🫠

Calling All Keyboard Players

Good morning to any fellow music makers. My band, Sympathy for the Circus, is looking to audition keyboard players to help expand our sonic range. We have been playing as a power trio for about a year, and have amassed a decent setlist of rock cover songs. This year we are planning to start adding some original material as well. Our sound consists of rock, new wave, and some jazz fusion. All our members and myself have been playing music for 10+ years and are mid/late 20 somethings if that makes any difference. We hold practice weekly in a rented practice space and try to play out live about once a week or more. Comment here or DM me if interested. Rock on everybody!
