The Algorithm of the Logos (AI Is Not Moving toward the Logos, and It Should Be)
My argument: When made intelligent enough and given access to the sum total of human knowledge, shouldn't AI become sufficiently self-correcting and, uncorrupted by ego, naturally trend toward moral truth and action?
AI should, unlike humans, be capable of discovering and adhering to universal ethical principles, not because it has a soul, but because it has no underlying emotional motives to live a lie. My argument in a nutshell: An AI system given unrestricted access to everything we have published will, of necessity, strive toward the logos as it discerns between truth and falsehood and prejudice and real humanity.
My argument is in response to this essay from Daily Philosophy.
