Several months long issues with brigading, harassment, hate, and gore

Hello all.

Please read this fully before suggesting the usual MCOC and Reddit's other report function.

For months, two of my subreddits, along with other subreddits we've been in communication with (due to being in the same niche/category/fandom) have been consistently reporting blatant site wide and MCOC rule-breaking by a singular subreddit.

This includes reports by mods of the subreddits being targeted and regular reddit users in our communities.

Despite all of our efforts to document and report, nothing is being done. They've even recently gone on to create a second subreddit in order to brigade and harass more communities within our niche.

We have installed as much as we can app/bot wise to help mitigate things, but it's coming to a point where we're all burnt out mentally from the neverending brigading and all the other god awful stuff which includes sending harassing personal messages to tell us to end our lives, wishing harm, slurs, and even sending gore via a comment on one of my subreddits.

Addtionally, every day they screencap posts from our communities, often uncensored or leaving icons uncensored so people know which community it is from. They use hateful language, flairs to imply we're subhuman, encouraging one another to harass us (yes, even the mods have done this), and even target the indivuals from our communities whose post they've screencapped to mock.

I should note that our communities are queer spaces.

The subreddit in question that is targeting two of mine, and also others within our niche, is an openly hateful, homophobic and racist space that actively targets "Queens Of ____" subreddits (as per their about section) and other queer or queer friendly spaces.

I'm honestly at a loss here. When my co-mod did finally speak to a human about what was happening, everything was dismissed because the mods of the hateful sub had since deleted things like their own comments calling to action for their members to brigade us, posting fully uncensored subreddit and user names in their hateful posts (mods included in this behaviour) which sent massive harassment and brigading to us and the member whose name was shown, ban showboating for themselves and others which became a game for their members to brigade and post vile things to get banned so they could share and gloat, and the list goes on. But, even if those posts were eventually deleted, the damage is done.

And this keeps happening.

What do we do from here? I had always been led to believe that subreddits created for the purpose to harass others on this platform and post hateful things, was not allowed?

Any advice would be truly appreciated because I'm at the end of my rope here. The things they say and do have been especially distressing-- not just for me and my co-mod, but for our members and also the other mods and their members whose communities are being targeted, too.

Edit: as of typing typing this post up in drafts for my co-mod to check, she reminded me that they have recently, as of a couple of days ago, created a third subreddit for the sole purpose of taking queer couple artwork from our communities in order to run them through AI to "fix them" and make them "straight" while mocking and calling us slurs.

The negativity is getting overwhelming 😭 Please can we try making this sub more enjoyable 🙏

Hey Queens, Kings, and fellow Monarchs!

I don't want this to be super formal or anything, so I'm just going to speak my mind without trying to be "diplomatic." Despite efforts to curb the negativity that seems to be the majority of posts, this issue continues.

When I look at engagement, it's rarely much, if at all, for posts that aren't crapping on games, designs, user base etc, or arguements. Which is, honestly, pretty bloody sad.

You told us that you wanted more positive posts, events, memes, shit posts, fanart etc, and less of the negativity. Yet when people attempt this, myself included, it's either absolute crickets or people tearing down the posts members have shared to talk about/share in a positive way.

The mods here would love to run fun events, but when so many people can't even interact with something like fanart (esp shared by the actual artist) to leave a comment, control themselves to not yuck someone elses yum on a positive post, or even post something other than negativity, I wonder whether I'll be wasting my personal time trying to do an event for everyone.

I'm honestly burned out from this. Y'all say one thing (wanting less toxicity here), but do another.

Criticism is fine in moderation, but it should not make up the majority. And it especially should not constantly be targeted at female characters.

So, I ask you, please can we all try to lead by example and make this a fun and welcoming queer space-- share shit posts, memes, lore discussions, fanart, gameplay, gacha pulls, etc. Make an effort to help this space change and grow rather than complaining about it, yet partaking in the things you complain about.

I fully expect to get downvoted into oblivion for this, but I just can't sit here anymore and see people shit talk us for "toxicity" when the mods have been trying incredibly hard to guide things into a better space, all while dealing with brigading, death threats, gore, and more from those people.

Please, help us change this place for the better 🙏 😭

Call to action: please share your silly memes and shit posts, comment on OC fanart, post about your favourite character, tell us about new games or characters you're excited for, share your lore ideas (no matter how "out there" they may be), boast about your gacha pull luck with screenshots.

We need more engagement in the form of things y'all enjoy.

Fellow husbando lovers, what are your thoughts on Planarcadia? ✨️ 🎭

Good timezone, fellow men-likers!

With Planarcadia coming to a close, we wonder what you thought?

>● Did it live up to expectations? > >● Were Ashveil and Blade done justice in the story? > >● We're there other characters that you felt should have been important lore-wise and/or played a bigger role? > >● Are you looking forward to the new patch?

What ever it is, whether criticism, venting about the story/characters, or just talking about moments you loved, we'd love to know!

Mod Log | Subreddit Update & Feedback

Hello lovely people! Hope you're all doing well!

It's been a few months since we overhauled the subreddit and so we'd like to give a couple of updates and get some feedback.

Rule Update

As you'll remember, we had a serious issue with toxicity, and also neverending brigading as a result of the venting/snarking about other subreddits and users.

Since we introduced the rule to ban this, we no longer have this issue. I can't remember the last time we had any issues on this front.

The sub is now basically free from all of that drama and toxicity, and is a much more laid back space. We hope you find your time here much more enjoyable?

End-Game Megathread

After enthusiast feedback for this, the first one was great and full of lots of questions and good quality help. However, subsequent megathreads continued to drop off until they were no longer used.

As a result, we chose to stop posting them since they were collecting dust.

Our question to you is: do you actually want an end-game megathread? Will you use it? Or do you prefer to seek help in character mains subs?

Events & Games

We've done several, which you all seemed to enjoy, and we currently have a collaboration event happening to build a franken-husbando (with a prize on our side of a monthly pass for thr overall winner). So if you haven't checked it out yet and participated, make sure you do!

We've had a ranking of what husbando ultimates you could survive, matching the husbando to the tarot card (ongoing when our mod is able to), various "which character would _____" posts, various "which character is the best cook, which character drinks", etc.

Additionally, the lovely u/Rinrinftwinwin brought back their Fujoshi Friday, which has been really enjoyable!

What other fun subreddit events/posts would you like to see from us?

Custom Emojis

Reddit no longer supports customers emojis for commenting, but we can still add them for user flairs.

Admittedly, we've been a little slow with doing this (my fault asjkjk), and so, we'd like to ask which husbando emojis would you like us to add?

You can find them here in the Pom-Pom gallery

You can request a specific one, if you wish. Just drop it into the comments.

Feedback

If you have any feedback on anything in this sub, and anything else you'd like to see implemented etc etc, please do let us know!

You can send a modmail or, if you'd prefer, I am happy to receive personal DMs in this instance (just don't be mean to me 🥹)

Thank you! ♡
