OptiPLUS radiofrequency device causing fat loss

I have been treating my dry eye for about a year now, with IPL. In January I started up with RF in addition to the IPL. This duel treatment works well for me, giving me total symptom relief for 3-4 months. Ive done it about three or four times.

Around June I started to notice the hollows under my eyes have become significantly worse.

My doctor uses the OptiPLUS device at a temperature of approximately 42 degrees celsius / 108 deg fahrenheit. He moves it rapidly around my eye and for only a few minutes each time.

Is this fat loss permanent?

Forced to choose between regrowing my hair on spironolactone and getting fatter on it

I've been on spironolactone and topical minoxidil for 5 years. Spiro started changing my body shape within the first year, and it's gotten progressively worse. More fat on my hips, thighs, inner thighs, back, arms, and stomach. Doesn't affect my appetite. It affects my hormones.

I'm on 50mg. It works well for my hair. If I stop spiro now, I think I'll be pretty fucked.

Im really looking to hear from other women with AGA who’ve been in this predicament. What did you do to keep your hair without continuing to gain body fat. Did you use topical spironolactone? topical finasteride? Birth control? Really looking for anecdotes here, because I don't want to keep getting fatter

Spironolactone making me fatter but it helps my hair

50mg spiro plus Yaz seemed to be good. Stopped Yaz and my hair loss became horrific. Two months ago went up to 100mg spiro. Shedding stopped. Hair looks fuller already. But oh my god am I getting fat.

Bigger thighs, saddlebags, hips, even my arms and upper back, everything looks swollen. I can’t deal with it. Don’t fit my clothes.

What have you guys done about this?

To those with AGA planning to have children in 2-3 years. Where do you stand on starting or restarting meds?

I've been on treatment (spiro and minox and Yaz birth control) since 2021. I'm 32 now and planning to start having kids in the next 2-3 years. My hair does best on 100mg spiro, rogaine, and Yaz birth control. I got off birth control last November, just to see how I am with out it. I lost probably 50% of my hair and i'm trying to regrow it now with a higher dose of spiro.

should I get back on Yaz until I'm ready to start trying to have kids? Or just stick with the spiro? What's going to give me the best chance of preserving my hair?

Knowing i have to stop everything 2-3 months before trying to conceive, what are other people dong?

First time chronic migraine with different features. plus a birth control question.

i have had episodic migraines my entire life, and they had been very well controlled this last year. I was on Yaz birth control for 5 years and they were minimal, a handful every couple months, that always responded to meds rapidly.

i stopped the Yaz in November. But I had zero headaches until April.

However: in April, I got cosmetic botox in my forehead, some kind of eyebrow lift thing. I got a migraine 4 hours later and they have been hell since. On June 1st, it turned chronic, and i've had a migraine nearly every day since then. I started Emgality two days ago, i'm on nurtec every other day until it kicks in.

This migraine is quite different from any other. My neck is incredibly sore, there's nasal congestion type component, my ears feel stuffy. My voice sounds different. I've never had a migraine like this. MY CT scan was clear .

Has anyone developed worse migraines after

a) cosmetic botox

b) like 7 months after stopping hormonal birth control?

Does anyone prefer In N out cold the next day?

I prefer In N out cold the next day. I always get two double doubles, eat one immediately and put the other in the fridge. Does anyone else prefer a cheeseburger cold after being refrigerated overnight?

edit to add: the flying dutchman in an onion wrap is delicious eaten cold the next day, and so is a double double protein style. both of these make fantastic breakfasts

In-N-Out is better cold the next day

In N Out, and also every other cheeseburger, tastes better the next day. In the fridge it solidifies so it is firm and less messy, the flavors meld together and become more cohesive, as well as more intense. I would go so far as to say nearly every food is better the next day, but cheeseburgers are especially great. And it makes a fantastic breakfast

edit to add: the flying dutchman onion wrapped is also sensational when cold

25 day long migraine. Terrified.

Long history of episodic migraines. Now here comes a 25 day migraine for the first time in my life. Goes away with triptans mostly then back the following day or two days later.

These headaches are new to me in the sense that they come with sore shoulders and neck.

Toradol aspirin Advil Aleve don’t touch it. I just had a toradol IV yesterday. It helped for a bit before it came back. Medrol pack didn’t work either.

Taking magnesium glynicate.

I am extremely terrified that this is brain tumor. Or that it will bee permanent and intractable.

Coincided with hormonal changes (stopping birth control, but I did this back in November) and getting cosmetic botox around the forehead. That was April. My head hurt on and off since then, and in June it went chronic.

Please advise. Im in LA.

Facial swelling after 1 dose of oral minoxidil hasn’t gone away in 2 days

I took .6 oral minoxidil the day before yesterday. My face has been puffy ever since. Very bad in the mornings and under my eyes. I tried Benadryl and it didn’t work. It doesn’t go away. Is this permanent?

Catastrophic shedding after stopping birth control. Diagnosed AGA 5 years ago.

For those who have AGA and discontinued birth control. When and how did the shedding stop? Did you need to resume birth control?

32 years old. I take 50mg spiro and just upped to 100mg. Topical rogaine for 5 years. Stopped Yaz in November, shedding severely since April.

EDIT: I UNDERSTAND it LOOKS like i have enormous amount of hair. I do not have an enormous amount of hair. I have decent density but i have significant loss and thinning

u/commonreactor111 — 2 months ago

People with AGA. How and when did you stop shedding after stopping BC?

I stopped Yaz in November and my hair is in hell. Shedding, incredible thinning. Do I need to just go back on.

Stopping Yaz birth control has destroyed my hair. Part widening, extreme miniaturization, plus shedding

I am on spiro50 and rogaine for five years now. And yet here we are. I stopped the Yaz in November. Ok the shed started in April. I upped the rogaine use in May. The Shed is completely massive now. Clumps.

Do I need to get back on Yaz to prevent further miniaturization? I am 32

EDIT: Please only respond if you have AGA and got through a birth control shed

Can spironolactone protect your hair when you get off birth control?

Stopped Yaz in November. Just went up to 100mg spiro and started oral minoxidil. I’ve been using the topical for 5 years good results.

I am dumping hair right now. Intense shedding. Part severely widened. Been going since April

Do I need to go back on

Anyone here not on birth control?

Has anyone here been able to get off birth control and stop their shedding?

Has anyone been able to treat AGA without going on birth control?

Getting off BIRTH CONTROL with AGA

Hello. I need to know how people with AGA got off birth control. I have AGA. I was on Yaz and 50mg spiro plus minox. I was on Yaz for like 4-5 years. I got off it in November. Well my hair is the thinnest it has ever been, and shedding for the last 2 months.

Please tell me how you guys got through this, what you did to help? Oral minoxidil? Higher dose spiro?

I need optimistic stories from people with AGA who quit birth control. How did you control it, and how did your hair recover?

I’ve been on birth control since like 22 and I’m 32 now, I quit the most recent one (yaz) 6 months ago, in November 2025.

Holy shit. The shed started two months ago and it’s not stopping. I’m shedding long hairs and shorter ones.

For background: Dx with AGA five years ago, it was triggered by Nuva ring.

I wanted to see who I was without hormonal birth control and that’s why I stopped. I really do not want to get back on. I went up to 100mg spiro and started low dose oral minoxidil last week. Do I need to get back on.

Please, please tell me stories with an optimistic outcome
